  1. There are no factory 4 door MJs. :brows:
  2. :hmm: How do you get anything done with so many things to play with Who says I ever get anything done? :D
  3. IS that an MG I see :D 1966 Lotus Elan S2 S/E. The blue one outside is a 65 S2.
  4. It's an off-road "skate-board" for downhill mountain bike trails, and not recommended for the faint of heart. :brows:
  5. Bike? You mean bikes, right? This one is still in pieces: And for some reason, I can't find a picture of the Bonnie. :dunno: As you might imagine, my garage is packed pretty tight:

    My MJ

Good for you for not trashing a Manche that should be saved!
  7. Reminds me of that circulating eMail about how to give your cat a pill. :rotf:
  8. Thanks Brent! Yeah, I was hoping to avoid a dealer charge, but I know they gotta eat too.
  9. Number 1 daughter got her purse stolen (again - sigh) and lost the key and the only remote for her Jeep. She had a spare key, but just locked herself out today (AAA to the rescue). I think I can figure out which model remote to get as a replacement, but I've gotten mixed advice as to whether she can program the replacement herself without a working remote. Anyone know for sure? And yes, the idea of getting a replacement daughter HAS occurred to me. :D
  10. Mine is an 87 as well. Is this the support you mean (only pic I could find with the hood open)? And yes, the hood is pretty heavy, cause there are no lifting spring in the hinges or any counterbalance mechanism, but the latch springs pop mine up just fine.
  11. The guards I got require that you remove the lamp mounting surround, and install the clips underneath. That's why the surrounds get bent out of shape upon reinstallation. Next time, I'll just RTV them onto the lamp itself. I wasn't smart enough to think of that the first time around.
  12. I fitted them on my rig because most of my off-road travel is in Baja, and often in mixed convoys of 4WDs and bikes while we move to a remote location to set up, so rocks are always getting thrown around as we drive.
  13. Got mine on eBay as well. @$7 shipped. Fitting the clips was a big PITA for me (they bend the headlamp surround all out of shape). Someone (Eagle, Pete M?) suggested just mounting them on the lamp with RTV. That's what I'll do next time.
  14. Perhaps, but I understand that Fiat has earned a much better reputation in Europe over the past decade. Only time will tell if it's a smart play by Fiat, and Chrysler probably doesn't have a long list of suitors waiting in the wings.
  15. Thanks. I didn't know that. Do they have consumer trucks in addition to commercial?
  16. Makes good sense. Fiat makes economical cars but no trucks or 4WDs (AFAIK), wants back in to the US market, and needs a dealer/distribution network. Chrysler has some good trucks and 4WDs, but nada for cars (and I've owned a couple, so I know). Marriage made in heaven.
  17. I'm looking to cover the entire rig. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. It's easy to find covers for the truck alone, or for the camper alone (like this) But no one seems to make covers for the truck and camper combo.
  18. Just thought I'd resurrect this thread, and say that, due to the added width of the camper, hornbrod's cover didn't work out and more conventional truck/SUV covers aren't looking to be a real option. So I'm currently looking for a Class B motorhome cover that I can modify (i.e. shorten) to make an acceptable fit. Any good sources for such covers?
  19. But that would be un-American. :smart: We're all about moral outrage!
  20. Where does it say it's a manual? I must have missed that.
  21. When I got my rig, it had been lifted ~4 inches, and the steering wheel was 180 degrees off. I actualy like it that way, but I didn't like the fact that the turning radius was affected. After readjusting, I thought of pulling the wheel and putting it back "desert style" but I've heard that pulling a Comanche wheel is a big PITA. Basically, I'm just too lazy.
  22. Been about two years for me as well (I won't know until I can see my post :D ). A lot of great folks on this site!
  23. I would expect he'd have to wait for court ordered restitution. After all, who else should pay? BTW Good news!!!
  24. Chains and turnbuckles to eye bolts mounted inside the bed.
  25. Hmmm . . . I've actually found the brakes to be surprisingly good. Had some @##$%^^ down in Ensenada pull out in front of me while she was rolling a red light, then slam on her brakes about ten meters later. I threw out the anchors, and stopped just fine, and that's with a brake booster diaphragm that has a hole in it. Narrow track is another issue, but with wider rims and tires I haven't experienced any instability in cross winds.
