  1. Speaking of a stretched willy's, My buddy was the July '05 or '06 Cover of JP Magazine. He did it right with a 6" door and 6" rear wheel well stretch. His frame was built on his garage floor, and he has a nice Chevy 350 I believe as the powerhouse. Painted Olive Drab Green. Has a 9 inch rear, and I think a 44 front.
  2. Who likes the color, who doesn't? Who has it, and Who wants it? That 86 rust bucket in my buddy's JY has one, and I honestly can't stand the color.
  3. Depending where the rust is, will make your price fluctuate. Offer him 1750, and work it to about 2250 for the price. That's my opinion.
  4. That would be perfect, but I take it such a find would be rare? So maybe a toyota then. Thanks! If your not in California, or NY, then your chances will improve greatly.

    Ga. Jeep??

Try not to be too rough on an old guy. I've been dragged into this technological age feet first, kicking and screaming> :hateputers: I'm never rough on any old guys... But those younger (18-23) girls are another story! :D

    Ga. Jeep??

My guess: http://www.jasperjeep.com/en_US/ Don't ask me how I found them. :D
  9. Why not replace those, and make it a really nice show truck? Never will you find another MJ with a rust free floor like that!
  10. Your an @$$ for getting such a nice truck. :D It must be nice working on a clean rig...
  11. :???: What did you strip down?? it looks like a half of Xj in the background there??? Also, I believe this topic was started by the OP as "options on engine replacement" ATTN: Mods Please split this topic It is definately a little off topic now... Wildman, I decided 46's on a MJ would require too much "trimming" to remotely resemble a MJ. That plan was over with before I even got the tires. That XJ wasnt finished of being strippied in that picture. I already had all the interior, mechanical, and everything else out of it. I even cut the door jams off, as well as rear quarters and more!
  12. Well, under that grey tarp is the 92 yj I just scrapped for my sister's project. She wants to build a full out toy, so We got a good frame and tub for a YJ, and took the good off that one. The tires... I knew someone would ask... Hmm.... Umm... .... OK! The several (maybe 3-5???) year plan is to do a PSC Bruiser Chassis, with a Jeep 4.7L Engine under the hood, backed by a 545RE tranny, and followed by a Advance Adaptors Atlas 4spd with the 10:1 low range option. Axles will be a set of front and rear steer rockwells. The engine will be seeing some nice changes, including a port and polish, a little head shaving, and intake and exhaust will be as custom as I can get them. Oh, and the specs on those tires are 395/85R20 or 46/15.5R20
  13. Claytons, I have yet to hear bad about. They are also great with customer service. They also didnt have a ZJ kit in stock for my buddy, and they rushed to get the thing built, boxed and shipped by the end of the week, and he ordered on a wednesday, it shipped friday, and he had it monday.
  14. maybe anodized, or possibly powdercoated? Like the idea, just don't want something that will chip or wear easily.
  15. Using the 98 tank in the spare tire location of the XJ. The fuel neck will come out by the driver rear of the bed, instead of the driver front. No single piece of 88 wiring, sensors, or anything will be left when I'm done. Now, Charles, why would you say something like that :???: Rocky......you better have saved Every Thing, even the door post switches, and every wire, and don't call me, Charles has cleaned me out :D Didnt miss a single thing!Got the damn hood support, latches, even the tcase shifter crap for the body mount side of it. Even the heat shield for the exhaust. There was not a single thing left on that MJ, just check this picture out: (tilt your head 90* ) And it wasnt even done being stripped yet!!!
  16. Oh, it would be sealed off. But now that I think of it, diamond plate aluminum is very shiny, and would really suck going to work with, and it would reflect all the light into my eyes... Need some ideas for other options... I'd do the shaggin' wagon thing (long shaggy carpet ,from the 60's/70's) except the Jeep isn't a wagon. So it wouldn't go very well.
  17. Congrats!
  18. Maybe a Link ECU. it hooks to a laptop and you can run real time dynos just doing your daily routine, and record the info onto the laptop live, or download it later. Its a kick @$$ setup, and they are always improving it. I think it runs kinda pricey though, but can be adapted to just about any engine out there thats fuel injected, even some diesels!
  19. Try a junk yard out in ohio called Davey's Jeep Parts. http://daveysjeeps.com/index.html He's a great guy to work with, and has over 350 Jeeps that he's parting. I know for a fact he has probably 10+ MJ's, so He should have a decent variety of parts, and I find his prices to be pretty good, and little need to negotiate. He's a jeep guy and not an a$$hat
  20. air body saw. I find they work best, when used with a fine metal cutting blade, but I don't have one anymore. Need to go get another.
  21. it's because he's from :Canadaflag: ;)
  22. My buddy's mj doesnt have the headliner, or anything on the backwall. Mine has everything, but I'm thinking of getting rid of a lot of it, and doing the duramat or whatever it's called, and then get some rubber sprayed over that to keep everything completely sealed. As for interior trim, I may just follow that up the sides, and just cover any holes with some diamond plate aluminum. come to think of it, maybe I'll make some custom diamond plate aluminum to trim the cab with. Give it a cool look, but still rugged looking.
  23. The only spot i know is rotted in my mj is the outer half of the driver floor pan, and it's only straight sheet metal. Beyond that, it's pretty clean, but I gotta do something about the passenger rear lower corner of the cab, apparently, the PO hit something and bent the corner a little, after I knocked a ton of body filler out, and found about 15-16 drilled out holes for the filler to adhere to better. It will be new sheet metal there when I'm done.
  24. What have I missed that will need to be swapped out? I even have the brackets that bolt the engine mounts to the "frame" rails. the 98 stuff is going into an 88 MJ, But I don't really see much difference between the firewalls, or anything that needs to get mounted. The only things from the comanche being re-used is the unibody itself, the glass, a few trim pieces, and the doors for now... I did not miss a single bracket, nut bolt or washer or anything from the XJ when I took it apart.
