Can Spell Comanche (2/11)

  1. Yeah, there was somebody else on the board here who recently swapped out the 2.8 for a 4.0 in their 1986. They said it was only the "tab" on the exhaust manifold and they needed to bend the firewall only a little bit to make it fit. I'm still leaning to the 3.4L for my 86 but only b/c I just bought new intake manifold and carb ($600) for my 2.8 that should swap in just fine. Otherwise picking up a 4.0 is far easier there's a bagillion of 'em out there. "bagillion" being a technical term of course! Nice looking truck.
  2. Thanks. The tailgate is a transplant, not sure what happened to the original. The hood is primer, by the way. The paint was oxidized and faded anyway. No decision on future colors either. I'll cross that bridge later.
  3. I bought this from a guy off Craig's List who had it in his family since new. They took great care of her and I'm continuing the love. 1986 Custom with matching hardtop. Got the 2.8L which will be a 3.4L soon. Wrangler wheels. Original bench seat, orangy/tan interior (yuck, will be black), everything works. Gauges, etc, except of course for the courtesy lights. You can see the make-shift hood thingie I made to clear the air filter: Replacement tailgate looks ok: Here's the 2-piece Edelbrock intake manifold with 390CFM Holley 4bbl. Add a pair of headers and free-flow exhaust and that 3.4L will really scoot: Anyway, full compression on all cylinders at 147k miles + more every day. Hope you like.

  6. Yeah, guys, considering how much eBay is screwing over sellers with these changes you might consider reducing your eBay action and looking elsewhere. Bidville.com has about a million listings (vs. about 12 million for eBay) and as a seller, it's a much better fee structure. There's eCrater.com that's nearly free and uses GoogleCheckout. (Also a lot better deal than Paypal) So while eBay may be the only place you can find certain stuff I'd encourage you to spread your business around. The more competition, the better for all of us! Hasta! Scott
  7. Can we track those freakin' jerks down and kneecap 'em? And thanks you guys for running this board. You
  8. I love those bumpers Matt! Where did you get them? What brand are they? Would you mind sharing what they cost? I've got a daily driver and haven't found any aftermarket bumpers that I really like. Scott
  9. I love P&T but I gotta agree with Mr. Pete on this one. As for paper, if the Feds would lift their ridiculous ban on hemp we'd be cutting down far fewer trees - farmed or not. I'm a tree hugger. :-) We've got a 96 gal recycle bin we fill up every 2 weeks and only a 32 gal trash can. Without recycling we'd be throwing away a LOT of stuff.

Yo JeeperJ, yeah I'm impressed with him but realistic too. There is no way he'll get elected and your comments about the "system" are right on the money. Ironic, because that's what the system is all about now: money. I've said it a hundred times: "I'm so sick of voting for the lesser of two evils." And if Hillary is elected I might just have to go to :Canadaflag: Argh! :headpop:
  11. Don't forget the Jeepster Commando. C101 (1966 - 71) and C104 (72-73). I had a '67 hardtop with the Dauntless V6 in High School and love those suckers!
  12. You'd be surprised my friend. I also live in WA & was pulled over Sunday for speeding in the minivan. (sigh, I know but I got a bunch of kids) The cop could've cited me for pulling over to the left (I was in the left turn lane for gawd's sake!) and for my daughter in front seat. There are so many nanny-state laws in WA you never know what you might be violating. And if you've got power hungry cops where you are I'd be looking for change in the couch cusions. Don't forget they can nail you for seatbelt and cell phones too. All they need is that one little probably cause and you're nailed. There should be a law that says if they want to add a law to the books they gotta take one off the books. Of course I lean libertarian so I'm just a tad biased. :chillin:

I'm a total Ron Paul supporter too. The only candidate with an ounce of integrity. Here's my favorite Paul quote when he left Congress in 1984 (he returned in 1996) "Special interests have replaced the concern that the Founders had for general welfare. Vote trading is seen as good politics. The errand-boy mentality is ordinary, the defender of liberty is seen as bizarre. It's difficult for one who loves true liberty and utterly detests the power of the state to come to Washington for a period of time and not leave a true cynic." Some interesting factoids: He's never voted for an unbalanced budget He's never voted for a tax increase He's declines the congressional pension He's voted against every congressional pay raise He's never gone on a lobbyist paid junket He wants to eliminate the federal income tax and the IRS He wants a constitutional sized government that can be supported without the income tax He believes in a non-interventionist foreign policy. He voted against authorizing the Iraq war (only congress can declare war) He supports our constitutional rights against those who would use national security as justification for taking away our rights. Now he's not perfect but he's damn sight better than any of the others. My opinion, of course.
  14. Pat, sorry for the delay... life got busy. Yeah, I understand just the cowl part, not the full hood. It's still a bargain. When you finish one for the other guys, would you post a picture? If it looks like it'll work for me we can arrange payment and shipping. And I'm serious about respecting your time. I'm a complete stranger and don't expect any favors, ya know? Thanks very much! Oh, and sorry about those Packers. I was really hoping the team that embarrassed my beloved Seahawks at least would get to the big game. Although my wife gets all hot over Favre every time he's on TV so maybe it's a good thing?
