  1. Worked out great for me. Hope you have the same luck. Nope. Don't think I'll be finding one anytime soon seeing how they stop making them. Who knows, I might get lucky. :brows:
  2. Looks good Pat. Was the pinion seal leaking or you just replacing it while it's out? I should have pulled my knuckles off. I'll probable kick myself later. :D
  3. Thanks for the link. That's the best price I've seen. What style and color did you go with?
  4. Oh yeah, this brings back some memories. I've been to 4 out of the 6. Lot of good times. Wait a minute, I remember now, I got liquer poisoning from too much rum. No wait, that was Jamaica. Maybe drinking too much isn't always a good thing. :D Have a great time and be safe.
  5. Well after the 3rd or 4th one it gets easier. It also helps if you drop the steering column and if you just happen to have the windshield out as well. :brows: I've learn that a good flex shaft screw driver is the best investment for getting at the screws on the upper dash. I can get one out in about 20 minutes and put it back in about the same time now. If you drop the steering column, hook the bottom hooks on the sides, and then just lift it up while your tucking wires as you go, they seem to go right in without a lot of trouble. Just tips for the next time. Did you get the carpet from the guy on ebay? Post some pics once it's in.
  6. Well between the yardwork and a drop of rain now and again, I managed to get the front axle painted today. Also finished putting primer on the leaf packs. Hope to have them finish in the next day or so.
  7. :agree: Wish I could have talked the son into the 97+ conversion. Maybe next project.
  8. I can't say it enough, thanks for all the comments and feedback.   The weather has been screwing up all my plans for like the last 3 weeks. It's either been raining, too cold, or the days it was nice, I was stuck at work. But anyway, I picked up a front axle a couple of weeks back out of an 89 XJ. At first I thought it had been swapped into the 89 as it was non-disco and had the bigger u-joints. Then after looking underneath I saw the reason, it had a 242 t-case which came with that axle setup. After degreasing Son earning his dinner. He learned real quick that shorts was not the best thing to wear will using the wire wheel. :brows: After the wire wheel Quick primer than back into the garage because the rain is on it's way again. You can see the 4.0 under the axle that will be rebuilt. I'm hoping to get another coat of primer and then paint this weekend. I ordered the bushing for the UCA mounts only to have them backordered. :headpop: I also thought about changing the wheel bearing and u-joints however I think I'll wait to see if I need too. Plus it will be easier to do them with the axle under the truck. I'll be putting either blanks or other switches there. However, the small crack in the dash pad was more than I could stand so I pulled that dash and put in dash number 2. It was from a 94 XJ and in much better shape. Hope to post up more progress soon.
  9. They site I had that use to sell them was close to $400. I'd be interested, especially if we could get a good discount. :brows:

    Fog Lights?

:agree: I've got a set to go on mine. There the older style which I like better than the smooth ones. I'll be mounting them to whatever brush gaurd we put on.
  11. I would have then responded in a very calm voice; So, are you telling me that your closed? If more ranting came from him, I'd wait till he's finished to ask, So, when will you be open? There's nothing better to piss someone off even more than to be calm and annoying. :brows: Anyway, I think if you did do the decking, make it so you could remove and install it in one piece. That way if you ever do get a regular bed, you could change them back and forth without much trouble.
  12. Looks good. Don't ditch that bench. Black is too hard to come by. After over a year of hitting the JY I've only come across two XJ's with black interior, no MJ's.
  13. Happy B-day Pat. Just remember, No drinking and driving. It's not worth it.
  14. Here's a pic from the parts manual showing the different canisters. I doesn't list the long one with only one hole, however I saw one today at the JY on a 94 xj w/o cruise. Here is also a thread from JF talking about this subject. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=520080
  15. The original equipment MJ sliders were three pane. Electric sliders were never offered by the factory as an option, they were aftermarket and used to be sold by CR Lawrence, part number EPS700. CRL don't make the electric anymore... Sucks cause I'd like to have one... I was planning on getting one. Their website still has them listed. CR Laurence You can't buy them from them unless you are a authorized dealer, however I did look up the site I knew sold them and they are not listed anymore. Just as well, may have just saved $400 on the build.
  16. Not to be a stick in the mud, but you may want to look a your panel and see how many scuff marks are on it. For me, I know my foot kicks that panel alot. Hhmmm, is that why they call it a kick panel. Anyway just food for though before you waste any money.
  17. Until 07, all rubi axles were air lockers. Two pumps, one for each axle mounted on the t-case skid unless they moved them which is a popular mod for rubi owners. Jeepsareus has them a little cheaper than the dealer. Wiring them is pretty easy and there are a couple of write-ups on JF. The rubi's D44's do have a known leaking axle seal problem. As me how I know? :headpop: Oh, and if you can get it for $250, jump on it. If anything you can turn around and sell it for a lot more. Just check the prices they go for on ebay.
  18. I'm not a fan of it either, I just have seen on other forums people comment on the limited production of that color. Maybe the next MJ I do will have the 97+ conversion, that is if I ever finish my two jeeps I have now. A 2dr XJ is in the future project list. Hopefully I can find one cheap. :brows:
  19. Nice find. What's up with the donor. It looks real nice and has the limited teal color that is hard to find.
  20. See I knew someone would correct me. :dunce: However I could have sworn the yj wms to wms was just a bit shorter. In fact I think someone on here told me that. Oh well live and learn.
  21. Yep, peanut butter works great. The donor XJ became host to some varments. Put the trap in the battery tray. First night caught one, then three more over a weeks time. Got those heavy duty plastic spring traps from lowes. They worked almost too good as the underside of the hood looked like a horror film setting with blood splatters.
  22. Here's what I look for when I go, MJ parts. If I'm lucky enough to find an MJ, Anything that is MJ specific (interior pieces, rear fender flares, tailgate, tail lights, rear bumper, side rear vents, driveshaft for 4x4, headliner as long as the headliner form is ok, dome lights, cargo light, rollbar, metric ton leaf packs) XJ parts. 2dr buckets because they fold forward. XJ/MJ parts Black interior pieces because they are very hard to find. D44's tow hooks I don't need most of this, however I like to get things to help others out here and locally. Which reminds me, I need to clean out the garage again of extra parts. :brows:
  23. The 87 that I pulled my 242 from had not your standard full time part time on it. Freaked me out at first because I pulled it before I saw the shift plate and thought I had pulled a 231. Tag has 242 plus if you shift it through the positions you have an extra one compared to the 231. Far as putting the XJ axle in the YJ, the YJ axles are shorter than the XJ/MJ ones by a little bit. I think around a inch in a half or so. Someone correct me. I know the YJ is shorter because that is what is in my MJ right now and the wheels don't stick out as far as the fronts do. If you can convince him the YJ will look funny with the rear tires sticking out more than the front, you could end up with the D44. :brows:
  24. Well, I've been fighting this awful FLU for over a week now. Crap just won't let me go. Haven't been able to do hardly anything without feeling totally drained. Hope the rest of ya can avoid this one. *cough hack*
  25. This deal was flying around on JF for awhile. Here's the link with some installs and pro's and con's. Sitting in the Cheap seats
