  1. pull all the chrome around the windshield, and remove/save as many of the trim clips off that aren't stuck in glue as you can...they don't supply new ones usually. the new windshield will be a rubber gasket style. it will pop right in, but to keep original you'll need to have him do the install and have the chrome clean and ready before he gets there because they have to reinstall it after the job is done in order to make sure of fitment. If you do that, save the rubber gasket for me. I always like having spares.
  2. Eh. Some of us think extreme views are normal. Political posts just get those of us who are like that in trouble

    What To Do?

Contact the local P.D. And ask for the police chief, let him know the purpose, and ask him what you can do if you can't contact the owners. I did that once, they ran the vin, and basically gave me written permission to take the vehicle for salvage only, and informed the neighbors.
  4. If you remove the 2.5 core support, a 4.0 rad will bolt in. you'd need to extend your hoses and do electric fans, and it may cool too well so you may have to block off a bit of it. I did this once for a friend with a single electric fan no mechanical with the fan turned on via a stock dummy light temp sensor mounted to an h.o. tstat housing. Never over heated again, had heat in winter and never ran too cold.
  5. What has failed on yours? or are you doing a 4x4 swap? Either way, I have good output shaft cluster gear and gear assemblies with a good 4x4 output housing and everything needed to build a 4x4 trans out of a 2wd or rebuild one.
  6. You guys are picky. I'll take anything.
  7. Renaults have a VERY specific timing service requirement. Being that the service history is an unknown, and the amount of play in the video....replace it. Only thing worse than an interference motor with a blown timing belt is one you can't get parts for
  8. ain't taking mine from me. I can and will use them to protect my rights.
  9. redrill the holes for the shackle angle. and the front control arms are too short...crazy bends in your springs when they should be straight vertical
  10. I'd pull the head off and clean it off the motor. of course, if that looks like that, the rest of the motor does, too. a head gasket job... $59 for the upper gasket set includes... valve seals head gasket intake/exhaust gasket injector o-rings throttle body gasket. thermostat gasket you can rent a valve spring compressor, and lap the valves yourself by buying a hand lapping tool and lapping paste. new 97+ head bolts would be a requirement in my book. they don't sell the older ones at parts stores anymore, and they're only $40 for a complete set doing it this way, you can properly clean the head, inspect your cylinder walls, and decide whether or not your rings are really that bad to cause that much blow-by. for tools you will need; 11mm for valve cover bolts (you obviously got that covered) 1/2" drive tools; 16 or 17mm for driver/s side head bolts 12pt short well 1/2" for driver's rear head bolt 12pt deep well for passenger side head bolts 3/8" drive tools; ratchet 1/2" for t-stat bolts 9/16" short well for intake/exhaust manifold bolts a 6" and 4" extension 8mm for fuel rail 13mm for fuel rail and valve rockers as well as a couple of harness tie-downs 10mm for throttle body if H.O. also for fuel line bracket T45/T50 for throttle body if renix 15mm for power steering bracket wrenches; 9/16", preferably ratcheting, for some intake/exhaust bolts, and the a/c bracket to head bolts. 13mm, preferably ratcheting, for power steering brackets specialty; ft-lbs torque wrench, 1/2" drive, that goes at least to 110 ft/lbs but as low as 17 ft/lbs scrapers 90 degree die grinder with a gasket removing atachment (not a MUST but definitely preferable) plenty of rags to shove in the lifter holes when cleaning off the deck vacuum to vacuum out the cylinders after cleaning, rather than trying to blow it all out with an air gun wire wheel for random cleaning here and there. think that about covers everything you'd need. it takes a couple days of a few hours a day for your average at-home mechanic, but you'll have the knowledge that you've seen the inside of the motor and what it looks like, so you'll know what to expect. there's no real worries doing this...you pretty much can't screw it up if you follow the book. Remember to loc-tite the #11 head bolt as it goes directly into the water jacket behind the water pump. if you don't, it WILL leak.
  11. yes. the dual diaphragm is far superior to the factory single diaphragm setup. added assistance in braking power means you don't have to exert as much force on the pedal to get the desired braking effect....and no, it doesn't make such a drastic difference that light pressure means immediate lockup. just is a better aide for braking power, with better pressure proportioning in the master itself. only down-side...common reservoir means that if you have a leak in one brake, you lose all brakes eventually, as opposed to at least having seperate front and rear brakes with the old style master.
  12.
  13. It's a go for using Kevin's car lift for the swap. 2 days max that each phase of the project can be on the lift. we can bring the MT out there and get it stripped whenever you'd like, he just needs a heads up so he can work other things around the schedule. it would be ideal to yank the engine/trans etc. one day and the rest the next just in case something random needs to go up on the lift. I've got a scrap bin to put the remnants of the truck in...it will be going straight to the crusher after we're done and have saved everything that we can. wouldn't be a horrible idea to start taking things off where it sits...interior, etc. before it goes to the shop.
  14. I'm in. Steve may be. Aaron had said he wouldn't mind going. Jake would probably be interested in coming, too...I'll ask.

    Floor Jacks

Jack stands need to be strong. Floor jack just gets you high enough to put them under it. Harbor freight for 3 years with zero issues. Light, quick, strong.
  16. lower track bar bolt, and tighten up anything that has to do with steering that was recently replaced.
  17. no offense, but every aspect of this truck screams "bail out" to me. first thing came to mind was "yuck". I'm glad you've got things working, though.
  18. Auto or stick? I have a computer I will sell you for $50. have both auto and manual. You should do this work yourself. it's not hard, the computer is 3 8mm bolts and a couple plugs after removing 7 screws to take the knee board off the dash. the CPS is two bolts in a somewhat hard but not impossible place to access, and one connector. My bet is that they installed the CPS and didn't make sure it wasn't laying on the exhaust manifold.
  19. why would you want those wheels? that chrome trim ring pops right off. they're regular steel wheels.
  20. Nice m91/30
  21. Perhaps my view on that is a little skewed, and my not how things are. I'd state, however, that my opinion is how things SHOULD be. I'm not an economist. I just see that corn is cheaper where it's made than other places, that I can get meat cheaper from the butcher than I can from the grocery store...and better quality, too. Regardless, when you have a resource, the refusal to utilize it and reclaim our foreign dependency is ridiculous.
  22. products sold where the least amount of shipment costs are will ALWAYS be cheaper than having products shipped in. drilling for oil HERE will get the costs down long enough that when they come up with a VIABLE alternative fuel source, we will actually have the money to afford it. these electric cars have batteries that take thousands of years to biodegrade, and still use oil or silicon based products for lubrication. and actually cost more rare metals to produce. There is nothing about them that is "economical" in the long term, and their long term carbon footprint is actually higher than most cars and some trucks. gas and diesel motors are tried and true, and can be made economical. I fully support the search for alternative fuels. But until something reliable and affordable comes around, there is absolutely zero reason whatsoever to deny us the resources that will allow us to get by until that search is complete. As far as my comment on race. I worked for Coca-Cola during the elections. During that time, I was doing alot of service in chicago, milwaukee, and madison inner-cities. All of the African Americans were saying "Obama this" and "Obama that" and full-fledgedly supported him. When I (very very obviously caucasian) asked them why they supported him, the only intelligable response they could give me was "Because he's black". This wasn't just one or two in a store, but every single one of them. and they were all very very clearly uneducated with no hopes for any future but welfare stamps, and claiming child support...or being court ordered to pay it. I am also fluent in spanish. Of the hispanics I spoke to during this time, they generally shared that opinion. I'm forced to conclude by that that the majority of minorities supported Obama for the election, with little actual thought gone into anything but the color of the man's skin...and statistics show that the cumulative combined total of all minorities does indeed top the quantity of the "majority" race. There were people of all races who voted differently than my experiences show. I agree with that. some people are actually intelligent, of that there is no doubt. I'd point out, though, that the majority of people who voted for Obama were free-loaders and people that will never be anything that resembles a succesful human being, much less a decent one. Having a black president is great. absolutely the best thing to happen for African Americans in the history of this country...It's just a shame that it had to be one of the worst possible candidates for that role. If you think that Obama won the election through anything but his racial background, you're kidding yourself. He's not intelligent enough for anything but.
  23. wonder if my renault 2.1 will detonate on biodisel?
  24. taxes should be equal across the board. you pay, I pay. certain things have different percentages, but it should still be equal across the board. And as far as your quoting my Walker isn't the king deal.... here's the problem. We all know that Obama can't just wave his hand and make it so. However, he can strongly suggest things and have a 50/50 shot (roughly) of it passing. That's how the system is set up to work. Consequently, when you get a majority of the house and senate being of the same party as the president, the president's "suggestions" will not be vetoed. The problem with that lies in the fact that Obama hasn't got anything good to suggest, so all the crappy ideas he has that get passed turn into crappy laws, crappy bills, and crappy programs. Outspending the cumulative combined total of every prior president in the history of the U.S. with less than 1/4 of the monetary gains/benefits of even the most successful president in our history sure as heck isn't winning me over, nor should it be winning any of you over. That's absurd. the whole "you have to spend money to make money" idea actually does work. that doesn't mean that you can go blow your life savings (and then some) on a really sweet sports car, home audio, house, etc. and expect it to somehow magically net return profit without you doing anything. Obama is working off the theory that he CAN blow all the money he can get his hands on and that that money will somehow make it's way back home like Milo and Otis. It just does not work that way. And...as if that all weren't enough, how about the whole "get an economical car" deal going on right now? WE HAVE OIL. all we have to do is drill for it in such a way as to keep the environmental effects to a minimal negative. 20mpg is reasonable. 20mpg gets you a sound sturdy vehicle that isn't going to be the death of you. Who the hell is he to tell me otherwise? Obama only got in office because the majority of minorities were too little educated to look past the racial aspect of the election at the man underneath the skin.
  25. I've got a nice waterproof equipment box in the back of my xj that houses my tow straps, d rings, reciever/balls, jumper cables (multiple in case I need to jump that car waaaay over there), fire extinguisher, and enough fluids to fill everything in my jeep as well as a trail recovery set in case I need to randomly drain something. craftsman 400pc tool set in another tool box with necessary tools added, and always carry a spare t-stat.
