  1. I learned to throw when I was 23. I'm 25. My hand eye coordination is about that of a person plagued by parkinson's.
  2. What are your reasons for needing dimensions? swb is 6' bed, lwb is 7' bed. the wheelbase of an swb is about 6" less than a lwb, tho I cannot recall exact wheelbase.
  3. I've yet to see a DD friendly XJ with over 4.5" of lift. even 6.5" is pushing the DD friendly button too far. My 87 with 6.5" of lift, damn near new motor bored .030 with a torquer cam in it, aw4, 35" tires, and 4.10 gears on d30/d44 could pull 22mpg highway....if I was very, very, very light on the pedal. so light that I'd be in people's way. 55-60 was fuel friendly. higher was not. in town was OK if I didn't let it go into overdrive. Same lift and 33's, I could pull a solid 19mpg highway doing 75-80, and higher if I actually did the speed limit. around town was about 17mpg Still not DD friendly IMHO. You should be able to get in and go at a normal pace and pull those MPGs. anything else, hopefully you've got plenty of time to get there, or a deep wallet.
  4. I can understand your point on that, Don. We still run a ballast resistor on my bro's '88....but keep a factory bypass jumper in the glovebox, because we trust the resistor about as far as we can throw it. What did they do to counteract the lack of balast resistor in late 91+?
  5. I suppose I'd be interested if they matched specs to Metric Ton rear springs. Those give an MJ 2" of lift over stock anyways. I need load capacity more than lift.
  6. Sorry to hear that. The reserve is reasonable, though higher than that. Finding one is like a needle in a haystack. have any mjs you're looking to sell?
  7. Oh. Then I'll dig one up for you
  8. Huck, the bench is worn bad. I literally can walk outside to check out this truck.
  9. Yup
  10. ill keep my eyes peeled
  11. The renix and early H.O. aw4's didn't have the extra sensors that the 97+ do. connectors changed in 96 and I believe again in the newest models. The bolt pattern for torque converter to flex plate also changed at least 3 times in the lifespan of the jeep. once around 91-92, once in 94 or 95, and maybe again in the finaly body style. You really would be far better off to get the proper np242. I'll see what I can do about finding one for you...I know there are 3 or 4 97+ in the local junkyard, at least one had an np242. if I get that, you'd also have the adjusted shift linkage and shifter handle with the proper shiftgate. even if you drop $200 on a newer one, the fact that you then avoid having to get really involved in the "conversion" of early to late aw4 is worth it.
  12. It will likely have a taper on the crank and use clutches like a snowmobile If it's anything like the refer units I've worked on.
  13. It's not nice. It's got nice parts. It's worth less than 1/3 of what's invested. He is better off parting it. The main problem....people with that kind if toy money ate going to buy something that actually looks nice (think buggy), and the guys that like it either don't have the coin, or would rather build their own so they can take pride in it.
  14. I don't like the black rims anymore. too much like high school vehicles. so. doing them one at a time at a couple days each so that I can continue driving while doing this.
  15. I'm wholly against adding more subforums and such for something that will not get much interest. Heck, I don't even check "popular threads" because I don't feel like clicking into one more sub-catagory.
  16. Sam, If you're interested in the truck, I will offer it to you for for a good price. I don't have any way to get it to you, but this thing is right up your alley. It still runs and drives, needs brakes, an alternator (they ARE available), and a new tachometer...rob has ours. You could probably fix this truck, but would be better off with another rust free 86 chassis and some unmentionable solutions to registration (in WI, they will let me do a "cab swap" and use the cab title"). The rockers and cab corners are shot, floor is bad. frame rails seem good still. bed is shot, doors are shot, header panel has a crack, and there is a baseball dent in the hood. windshield is cracked as well. The head is cracked on the truck, but it still runs and has been ran this way for quite awhile (if you didn't get the boost above 5, the crack would hold pressure. it has been repaired ones, but the repair obviously didn't hold. it's in one of the precup chambers). You can drive the truck as it sits, save for the bad rear brakes. Comes with spare engine and head. No spare turbo, and it does not have a good spare injection pump, but the one on the truck works flawlessly. Rob has the injectors out of the spare motor. the spare engine is apart inasmuch as that the head has been removed from the block. We have a new spare timing belt, and a remanufactured spare starter. AMC20 rear, 4.11 gears all around. needs tires, too. Also comes with all of the manuals, spare glow plug relays, and the original window sticker. I would have pm'd this to you, but it says you cannot recieve any messages. -Pat -Pat
  17. how about 2100. if you're asking 12k, it should be the rarest possible mj out there. that thing is the same as every other trail rig. I'm talking under 5000 miles, MINT, late 92, eliminator, metric ton, 4x4, with PERFECT paint and everything. this guy is absolutely insane.
  18. No thanks. we have enough subforums already. post it to "the pub", and if it gets enough support, it can go into popular threads as a sticky.
  19. Prophets and the paranoid hardly ever are proven correct. get over yourself.
  20. Jeep driver, go @#$% yourself, and get lost. I don't want my rights infringed upon any more than you do. But it's been made clear you are not wanted. Bo, can you please just delete this, and ban him from the pub?
  21. Thanks for the plug! While truck comes with, for the right price.
  22. Rob, it can sit here all winter for all it matters. And, all the parts would fit in a shed....you could get another one... Either way, let me know today....the new head is going on ebay otherwise...
  23. K. rob, it's yours if you want to talk it out. I'd rather see you get it.
  24. It will be for sale if rob declines.
  25. we heat the shop with wood....don't ever have to split much though since we luck out with the properties we buy having seasoned wood already stacked. when we run low, we will run whatever is laying around. but we don't heat hot enough to take off our sweatshirts. whats the point...comfortable either way.
