  1. like the title says, 87 shortbed sport truck....payed $200. it's an aw4, 4x4. black with maroon bucket interior, and a TERRIBLE engine knock. but hey, can i beat 200 bucks for something with only 1 rust hole on the floor, and a bit of rust over the rear fender flairs? i think not. what should i do with it? it's got BRAND NEW exhaust from the manifold on back, shifts well, has the power option on the tranny, a visor thing over the windshield, some visor things over the side windows, a 4 pane aftermarket split rear window, a decent bed, new front right fender, nice chrome front end, new front bumper, easily repaired floors, and nice maroon bucket interior. now power windows or locks. oh, and it's a column shift auto. but that darn engine knock...it sounds like it's dying. should I part it out? put a junkyard motor in it? you'll see pics of it tomorrow. edit: pics
  2. ba10 is for the 4.0 the manual trans options for the 2.8 and the 2.5 were the ax5 (5 speed manual), the T5 (similar 5 speed manual...resorted to because of a shortage in ax5's), the ax4 (4 speed manual identical to the ax5 minus 5th gear), and the t4 (4 speed manual, same reason as the t5) if you have a 5 speed you most likely have an ax5 but could possibly have a t5. if it's a 4 speed then it's a ax4 or possibly a t4.
  3. haven't gotten mine back yet...but i did send them in. only like 300 bucks back tho... :(
  4. honesly I think it should mount right up. are you using the tranny crossmember FOR the aw4 or are you using the one for the peugot? and do you have the rubber mount that's FOR the aw4 or did you mount the peugot one? edit: I just went out and measured the difference between my friend's aw4 cherokee and my ax5 comanche and my bro's ax15 comanche and they are all the same...so i don't know what you're on :chillin:  but something isn't right there....unless the puke-goat is COMPLETELY different. but these cars were produced on an assembly line...which stands to say that they would make everything as interchangeable as possible. it SHOULD bolt right up. go back and trace your steps, and figure out if you used everything from the aw4, if you got that tranny mount backwards etc...
  5. got 'em. love 'em, i'll post pics up. thanks for the magnets too! i owe ya more i think...maybe I'll order some of your larger ones and send a few extra. thanks Pete!
  6. that was the world's best ad. i don't know ANYONE who could have restisted buying it simply to meet the guy who owned it lol
  7. I'm so sorry, i didn't mean to sound like a jerk man, sorry.
  8. ok i get that. but he's already got a manual trans (ax5) so he's got the manual shifter and clutter there anyways...
  9. lol, tjbilley, he said 8.8, not 88. an 8.8 is a ford 8.8" rear end that's similar if not better than a dana 44.
  10. nice twisty. are we gonna see a 4x4 conversion with a 3.4 motor swap? i'll help with wiring diagrams if ya want!
  11. I don't think you can. to take them off you need to pull from the bottom and sorta angle the bottom up and out and it should pop right off...just apply even pressure and if you need to use a screwdriver go ahead, just remember to space out the pressure and not pry too much in 1 place.
  12. freerock, wish i were in the area...I'd buy a set of front and rear for sure. sadly I'm not. I'm CERTAIN that you will be able to make a profit off of them, just inspect them, tell what the results of the inspection were, and that you don't know their history. people will bid regardless because a dana 60 is ideal for wheeling...
  13. he has a manual not an automatic...so all that stuff about the column shift auto cherokee means nil to this particular thread. the center console for the manual tranny is easy enough to find if you don't have it...and i seriously doubt that you don't have it
  14. oooooooh i'm JEALOUS of that interior.....
  15. Still waiting on my stickers Pete...did you send them?
  16. you got me...but at least it's partially owned by DC. I would hope that I can see one at some point, and possibly go comanche 2500 on one (perhaps on my 3800?) just to change things up a bit
  17. here ya go. lengthen it out a couple inches and maybe alter the height as needed. I think It would be just what you need as a base to make your skid plate...it will be much stronger than the cheapo ones jeep put on the longbeds
  18. the center divider and triangle glass come right out...there's 2 screws on the top side of the door you'll notice when you open it, and there's 1 halfway down the door on the inside near the window crank. so those are older ones, and yup they're clean...i want them :D
  19. freerock, you should be goin down there and ebayin them axles...i guarantee you'd make 300 in profit (at least) per axle if you did that
  20. put a fuel addative in it...injector cleaner or anything really. then run it basically dry and add new fuel, preferably high octane. it sounds like you've buttoned up the mechanical issues and now you simply need to get that old gunky gas outta the thing.
  21. we don't need another car section on comancheclub.com; it's called comancheclub for a reason! ...and a cheromanche is NOT a comanche. it's cool as sh*t but not a comanche. ya wanna talk about other stuff...use the pub and keep the site simple so we can actually navigate it...I have been using naxja lately and it's simply TOO MUCH...i mean, honestly, i just want to see exactly what we have here and be able to comprehend it.
  22. If the t-case is rotated up, there may be clearance issues...but if you're handy with a big hammer or welding that shouldn't be an issue. also you may need to change the 4x4 shift linkages? but an np231 is the way to go for sure.
  23. It's not too long. You have to swap out the bottom of the heaterbox to the one that's meant for the console, or trim the front edges and keep the comanche one. I GUARANTEE it will fit if you have a cherokee heaterbox bottom, they only ever made the small center console or the full one, no variations unless yours is not out of a cherokee xj at all or is from a newer cherokee.
