  1. remove the prop valve altogether...it's a PITA. put a cherokee style one up front and you're good. I'm sure other members here can fill you in on the details.
  2. good stuff. ask your local parts store when you go to pick it up. I don't use synthetic on transmissions as the AW4 trannys tend to have problems with synthetic...so as a rule of thumb, I don't use synthetic fluid on any of my trannys or t-cases. but I DO use synthetic on my axles.
  3. so does that mean you'll be selling your adj. control arms? :D let me know :D
  4. just the two screws. pull it back and see how bad it is...hopefully it's just mild corrosion that you can clean up.
  5. the answer is, what's a good welder worth? then plus some...
  6. I'm pretty sure it's an LT1...the LS1, as I'm informed by the chevy dealer in town, is the 3800 buick that was in camaros etc. I've got a 3800 in my comanche...
  7. yea master cylinder. pull the fuse box back and look how corroded it is...you may need a new one, or you may need to pull every connection and clean it...but if your fuses were corroded then that's 90% of your problem.
  8. general rule of thumb, get it done any way you can without hurting yourself (much) and without wrecking your truck. I personally use a plasma cutter...my grandpa operates a construction business and has 3 so I borrow one when I can. I don't do oxy/acedaline because it's not a clean enough cut for me and I don't want all the clean up work. cutting wheels and sawsalls are great, but you can't get into some tight spaces with them and often have to cut a large piece out by dividing it into several smaller pieces. is time more valuable to you or is having a bad@$$ MJ and ZJ more important?
  9. I'm running a 3" rough country lift with 31" tires on my truck and my brother's truck. it's fine as I don't beat on it and all it sees is street use and minor off-roading, but I wouldn't DARE take it into anything hardcore...it's just not a great axle to begin with and add the tires and such, it's GONNA blow on me sooner or later. I'm looking for an 8.8 to put in mine...that's probably the best bet.
  10. If it's a 5 speed, is your slave cylinder leaking? common problem with those is they leak and the fluid gets into the fuse box and corrodes it.
  11. automatic transmission fluid, not oil.
  12. check the flasher thing on your fusebox too...make sure it's not corroded or junk. matter of fact...is your truck stick or auto?
  13. first, to switch to 4wd, you will need the front axle (obviously), front driveshaft, 4wd tranny (easier and more effective than converting 2wd tranny to 4wd), the 4wd selector, and linkages. now, on the front axles, I believe you are very correct, except that some non-CAD axles had CV joints as well. stay away from those. get the non-CAD front axle, it eliminates the sometimes-faulty vacuum system. then DEFINITELY get a 4wd tranny and t-case (you need the ax15 with your engine option i believe.). the best bet is to simply convert it at first, and opt to change out to fulltime at a later date. I believe you can fulltime it with little mods...but don't quote me on that. any input on specific tcase advantages and disadvantages from anyone else?
  14. for him is there any way to "rehab" that circuit? or is it strictly a replacement issue?
  15. all of the AWD/full time XJ/ZJ/WJ had solid axles, but I would just slide the vacuum collar over and lock it permanently. I think Mjeff posted up some phtos somewhere. an AWD street MJ would be kick @$$, I'm sure you can agree with me on that one. lol, i don't get all wheel drive...it's really not necessary all the time lol.
  16. eagle any input on mine? they flat out don't work on HI. when I got it they worked once in a blue moon...but didn't have the load problem. So I figure the switch on top of the column. sorry to steal the thread...but this may help ya too
  17. did you cross the lines when you put it in? or does it leak?
  18. it is either behind the left tail light or underneath the bed in the middle. just trail the wiring and you can locate it easy enough.
  19. hi/low beam switch on top of your stearing colum is bad. my new 87 has the same problem
  20. check the ground for your tail lights...that's probably the problem
  21. ooh! can I wheel the street truck too!? lol, that sounds like a pretty good idea. does a grand have a CAD front end? this truck does...so I need a tcase with vacuum crap or I need to go non-CAD or put that selec-trac switch in it to control the CAD
  22. that thing is clean man, I'm real glad I got to see it...you wouldn't happen to have all the specs on your lift would you? and sources? maybe I can take a closer look at your lift next time I see it cause that's about what I'm doin with the new shortbed. and whick cherokee did you get the rear fender replacement pieces from again? I need to do some replacement work on this one...
  23. how much was the cargo light? let us know how it looks and turns out...this may be my OEM depot from now on :D
  24. check if the cable popped off the back of the gauges...you can reach right up under the dash w/ your hands and do that. then do the other stuff.
