Project Tetanus - H4s & Herculiner

1st, carb cleaner wouldn't cut through that by spraying...it would have to be concentrate in a bucket. second, don't EVER spray something like that in the engine. you'd have to drain the crap outta it before you could ever run it again...carb cleaner or other things like that are un-forgiving on oil and engine -

good 6.5" lift...ideas for a bolton kit?
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
it's already got an mj dana 44. i flat out don't want SOA, it's too much hassle....and if i can't get 6.5" rear springs, i'm getting some rusty's 4.5" rear springs, and a 6.5" front lift from RE. i don't want SOA, i don't want to deal with it, my insurance doesn't want to deal with customized stuff (this is the only insurance company that will currently take me...3 tickets in 1 year. sucks cause i don't usually speed), and i just want the simplicity of bolt-on -

:P tell my insurance company that...maybe they'll listen to you? jerks won't insure anything unless it's proven aftermarket parts made in a factory. they don't insure wheel spaced vehicles either...so i can't even put an 8.8 in my truck really...(they'll never know though ;) -
hehe, wrong question...how does it NOT wheel?

good 6.5" lift...ideas for a bolton kit?
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
a few reasons.. i don't want to weld and have my perch angles and pinion angle screwed up. SOA doesn't really offer much more ground clearance...just on the outside of the axle as the pumpkin still hangs down bolt-on is easier my insurance won't cover it when I wheel it unless it's a bolt-on part (they don't trust my welding :( ) stock springs generally suck too...but i want these springs for my 86 3800 comanche to replace the 2wd rear springs with the AAL in it (1.5" shackle on it will bring it overall to 3" lift) -
fiscus are you selling your grey comanche on ebay? it looks like yours and i was just wondering what happened to the deal?

good 6.5" lift...ideas for a bolton kit?
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
33's, but I want alot of space in the wheel wells...i don't want them hugged up tight and rubbing. i know a 4.5" lift would work for that...but a 6.5 will allow for bigger tires in the future. -
what's a good 6.5" lift for a comanche? I'm lookin for one for the 89 that I'm getting, and would honestly like to NOT go SOA if i can avoid it. any kits out there with rear springs? this thing has a stock dana 44 rear end and already has 4.10 gears and a 5 speed, cruise, tilt, vent windows, split rear, bench seat, external slave, np231 tcase, skid plate package, and tow hitch package. so basically all I feel it needs is a 6.5" lift (i don't want to trim anything...but if i do it will be a rusty's 4.5" rear spring setup and RE front with 4 tj rear flares)

it's just an optical illusion... don't act like you're not impressed hehe, wow

it's the sentimentality factor for me...I have into it what I would want out of it, but add that it was my first father/son project with me and my dad (no i don't have a kid ;)) and you get a HUGE sentimentality that would make me NEVER want to sell it. if i totalled it, I'd buy another one and put whatever parts off of my truck that survived onto it. even if it didn't need those parts...I would do it.

the wiring won't be hard...just cut out the wires that lead to the back doors, they splice in. tape/shrink tube over where you cut, and you're golden.
-
I agree. but you WILL run into problems with a weak crossmember...you hit a small incline fast enough and it's gonna tear your longarms right up. I say drive it, figure out the kinks, and use your fab skills to upgrade your crossmember in the meantime. trust us, that crossmember is thin and not gonna hold the push of the entire front axle in the long run. for now, you're golden. just play nice

I'm on that thread...and they're quick to hate and not quick to understand

uh...check the math there, that makes no sense  higher city mileage than highway?

I flame people who talk crap about owning stock wranglers unlimited and then show me a video of them "offroading". I laugh, talk crap about they're shoddy rig and the fact that for a mere $7000, I can do twice that and have more fun doing it (seeing as scratching my vehicle won't void the warranty and won't give me a heart attack). don't get me wrong, i like them. but people talking smack about "who's rig is better" when they can't do anything impressive themselves, and just have a big pocket-book or a fleeting fancy at "owning a REAL jeep" (I use "real" fleetingly)....really irritate me

nice. holy sh*t batman, even I've never had that much off an mj at one time...and i've stripped 4 and built 3 besides, with 3 more in the near future between my new toy, dad's TD, and one i'm working on for a guy. make sure you put in the power doors and such! and drain the oil on the xj first.. ;)

they're !#)@(%Y*(@^$ )*@$ #%)*#@^%)(* #)%(*^#@()*&$#@@#%@#*%^@#)($& that's some swear words I picked up on my computer...all strung together. naxja sucks, it's too complicated to search. to find a post I posted on, i have to search my sn in advanced search to see my comments

I have 2 shortbed beds local to me, one is MINE as it has a set of brand new OEM replacement bedsides on it, the other is spoken for i think (grismj86 wants it but he's disappeared of late). I'm paying $350 for the pair, the one with the new bedsides has had the bedsides riveted onto it so i will rectify that, the other has a small ding or two and surface rust, but NO rot over the fender flares. just wanted to taunt all of you...and if alex doesn't end up wanting it then i'll post the second one up, although I have a few shortbed guys local to me who need them. ha, i know that cause i sold them the trucks ;)
