GM 173 V6 swap for AMC 258 I6
JeepcoMJ replied to tkgibbs27's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
there are but they weren't supposed to go to the public, and there are only 2 or 3...I"ve seen one. -
yeah, whatcha need some of us either have it, or can get it, in most cases.
-
a t5 will work, some jeeps were equipped with that...not many, but they were so when jeep ran short of ax5's. you'll need to run a np207 t-case or something of the sort (231, 242, etc) but it must be driver's side drop. you'll need to track down the correct mounts or alter yours to work (should be close anyways), and driveshaft length will be different.

move your alternator ?????
JeepcoMJ replied to Rokhound's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think I'm gonna toy with this idea...and just add a 4.0 alternator where my a/c system is, or do some mods to get it near the p/s pump (wanting to set up OBA...). does anyone have pics of the 2.5 bracket mod? -
where would one get said turbo kit? :brows: and yes, I love that color too!

sweet! how was the window conversion? I would like to do the same thing....
-
just because of that name, I will never source from them. I don't like that name. lol. but I would like to see a thread on building this...I'm wanting a snorkel but have a serious lack of $$$ to do the project.
-
I want to join! ha you'd think though...if you got to that point where it was just gettin deeper and deeper, and you had that thing sunk that far....maybe it's time to rethink your situation a little bit instead of driving into deeper water. or add some pontoons...

check the link I put in there... I haven't put a 3.4 into any of my jeeps, just researched it very carefully. then a buick 3800 fell in my lap...and it has the same bellhousing too, but was alot more work. I know there's a few guys with 3.4 swaps on here, or there were. and I will look for info on wiring...I already have 90% of the wiring diagrams saved on the computer.

GM 173 V6 swap for AMC 258 I6

that 2.5 isn't the iron duke 2.5. -
what Dirty said. here's just the main reason for the 3.4 swap. get ready for it... oh the suspense... it's easy. it bolts up to the tranny, so you don't need custom mounts and custom driveshafts, you can use stock manifolds and motor mounts. other than a bit of wiring, it's basically drop-in. the 350 is a GREAT idea that I support whole-heartedly. but I've done a custom swap on one of these. had to have custom mounts, swap 4.0 radiator support and rad. in (didn't want to do that which is why I didn't drop a 4.0 in... ), custom exhaust, and I think that's alot of work for the average joe and I didn't even have to swap to trannies or drivetrain things. IDK, I have all the tools, and definitely the space, and just am hesitant to do it because swapping custom drivetrain in isn't exactly fun.

I like the stock outside idea, it's unique but a tribute. *applaud

now that I have. pm me regarding the seat belts. Tim, I think you will have to resort to the old style...the cherokee ones are longer and won't roll up far enough when they're in the comanche b-pillar (the ratchet mechanism is halfway up ont he comanche, but it's on the floor pretty much in the cherokee), not to mention they're different in design. so, if you're going tan, you'll need them. if you're going grey, you won't. your decision.

...this was me a matter of a month ago... since then the 89 (red built up one) went to TNT, the white one "above" it was scrapped, and I tore the engine out of the other red one for my 86 cherokee...so soon as I get parts off it for some guys, it goes too. gotta love stockpiling parts though :D
-
I'm gonna go look at them.. and probably get them once money permits. if they're still there.

pure sex. pics of your steering/firewall etc.?

so general consensus is bfg A/T over good year? I'm thinking of just grabbing a new set so I don't have to worry about failure...and grabbign a 5th at the same time. I found a tire rack, and since I have 8 canyons I can get a spare fullsize 30x9.5 or 29x9.5 (or 10.5 on the 29) is what I'm looking at getting, in BFG radial A/t's unless someone things the goodyears are better...
-
BAHAHAHA schweet. I think I need to wreck my 90 xj now...
-
not a new one, but I may have a set of them if TNT doesn't take them with the rest of the interior.
-
please do. and yes, that's the spotter's fault. he told the driver where to go. driver went where spotter wanted. spotter realized he f*d up right away, and changed instructions...well, driver couldn't see them in that split second, and it cost them the vehicle.

1986 cherokee 2.5 FS $1500 OBO
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
alright so today I... fixed the clutch. the pedal was bent, it didn't need a bleed. it was bent where the master cylinder hooks to it, making it so that the clutch pedal didn't seem to come up all the way. put a crescent wrench on it with a cheater bar, and pryed and straightened the thing out, now she runs and drives like a dream...sorta. need to clean all electrical connections and probably swap a few TB sensors as it doesn't idle the best...but that's no big deal. installed chrome mirrors...had to splice there cause the connectors changed in 87. replaced driver's side window motor, just have to do passenger door now. repaired all lights so they work properly. and I had an oil leak from a small round-ish plate on the passenger side of the motor...suffice to say that it had a clip for the starter wire on it before, and I forgot to tighten it back down after I reinstalled it. that's done. so she's workin good. and put TNT's small roof rack on. it will get his offroad tail lights and his air tank rear bumper...the bumper will be altered to follow the contours of the body on the corners, and offer some protection.
