a big rock, a hammer, a chisel, screwdriver.. hell, anything could have flown up into it from the vehicle in front if it

oh, I would. BUT I would stand there and watch them work on it. there is only 1 shop that I don't look over their shoulders, and that's because the guy who runs it/works there is the one who tells me all the tech I need to know about things like the 3800 swap (plus he's a family friend). when I had my truck aligned, I stood there and watched. they opened the hood once and started to reach in, but I yelled at them because they do not need to do that to align the front end.

H.O. head swap questions
JeepcoMJ replied to offroader461's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Pat, where in wisconsin are you located? I'm southeast wisconsin along with 89eliminator and TNT -
I would tell them NO, I don't. and blame it on them. does the hole look like a puncture or a corrosion? if it looks like a puncture, then it's something that theyve done to it most likely

XJ overhead console in a MJ
JeepcoMJ replied to eacomanche88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Depending on the year chevy yukon??? console you installed, most of the functions (except the lights and perhaps the temp if you have the sensor) will not work because your MJ is not OBD2. But it's a nice looking ornament though the camaro engine from 96 and IS OBD II last I checked... regardless, that thing has no functions other than the lights. I didnt want any, because I don't need anything telling me what direction I'm going (my experience is that these are faulty sensors), or the outside temperature. cold is cold, warm is warm, and I have an impeccable sense of direction (usually). I will be installing something else up there. but that's my little secret until it's complete. it does serve as storage for sunglasses, garage door opener, and a storage unit in the back section, plus map lights. it's handy, and the amount of storage is nice inside that MJ. too bad it's out of action right now. -
it's raining here in SE wisconsin. ghey

Can I put an 2003 TJ 4.0 into my 1989 MJ?
JeepcoMJ replied to JL's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
no, 87 through 89 86 was not a 4.0 and if you got the TJ engine, you could get a high output wiring harness from a cherokee and just replace yours with that, no problem just making the TJ harness work would be a b*@$£ -
XJ overhead console in a MJ

I put in newer style cherokee short visors (using my original clips) and a (chevy yukon???) OHC in my comanche. didn't hook the lights up yet and there are no other electronics to speak of...but it looks GREAT! I'll recover it and the headliner in black when I finish the interior resore sorry for the dark pictures. you need to use short visors with your project -
Can I put an 2003 TJ 4.0 into my 1989 MJ?
JeepcoMJ replied to JL's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
agreed. if you have a 4.2 in your comanche, it's been f*d with. ...you can put the newer 4.0 in, no big deal. you will either need to adapt it to the renix injection (probably the hardest part of it, and a waste of time IMHO), or you can pull the harness from the TJ as well and use it. you would need it's interior and engine bay harness, and you will have to do some rewiring either way. -
lmao. I love messin with them tell the man at the counter you want front ujoints for an 87 comanche 4 cyl 4wd, throwout bearing/clutch for an 86 comanche 2.8, rear main & exhaust manifold gaskets for a 96 3.8 camaro, spark plug wires from a 98 pontiac bonneville 3.8, and he says "wow, you got alot of projects" :P let me tell you what, I left him scratchin his head when I said, nope, that's that white truck out front. left it at that, walked away with my parts :D

HAHAHA that's as good a reason as any. make sure you tell her what you went through to see her... 8)

Cherokee seats in an MJ
JeepcoMJ replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
lol I have a succinct ability to find seats cheap. mfpdm found me both sets of my near mint black seats and most of my black interior. I had to dye the rear trim and door panels, and the main dash. everything else was OEM black. I have 3 full sets of grey bucket seats, one mint set, and 2 sets with 2 small cracks on the dr/side lower. only one set is from a 2 door, and I'm keeping that set. they're all grey. so..I don't need any contacts on the seats lol -
um...point is to save myself on shipping. I said sell plus ship the tires for $550 total. if I had to drive to milwaukee to ship them at $21 a tire, that means that I get $412 just for the tires. if I ship UPS, then at $60 per tire, I only get $250 for the tires. so you see the dilemma. anyways, doesn't matter now, he was a flake.

Cherokee seats in an MJ
JeepcoMJ replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
just cause you can't flip them forward. to get stuff behind them then, you have to get in the truck and slide them in from the middle. at least try to find one 2 door seat. you'll want it eventually. -
Cherokee seats in an MJ
JeepcoMJ replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yes you can adjust them, but I don't like the 4 door seats in there. -
Jeez, you mean the bellhousing bolts? I'm 0 for 2. Hard to believe that someone was dumb enough to leave 2 of those out. not really...my 87 comanche had a "Knock" that was because 3 of the 4 blelhousing bolts were missing, the torqe converter bolts were loose, and the bellhousing cover was missing. the "engine knock" is why I got it for $200. one new flexplate and some new bolts later, I got $1350 for it :D
-
not sure, but you need a new flexplate for sure. don't try to drive it with that one....it will give you problems.
-
the 90 cherokee I have did the same thing. so did my parts comanche. to fix, I just unbolted the inside door handle, and wiggled around the connecting rods until it unlocked. the no-open was caused by a sticky lock mechanism. if that doesn't work, you will have to wrestle with your interior door panel after taking off the handle and the armrest, and get the panel off. from there you can open it from inside the door.

vinyl dye and my new black interior
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
from the grave but... I haven't finished the dash install, though it will take place soon. the 3800 is off insurance and parked right now due to the cracked frame. that's about 95% finished right now so it won't take much more to do. once that's done, I'll be doing the dash swap with steering column swap, and single key ignition/door lock cylinders. it will also get the a/c box at this time, and everything needed for the a/c except the final adapter for the compressor. that will about sum up the work on the 3800, other than repairing the bedside. at that point...will be getting rockers redone and new paint on the entire bedside (dr/s), plus black paint on the bottom edge all round. -
well, I have mine as spares then :D
