I have an ax15 off of a '93 xj, and one off of a '95 yj. I have both clutches and both flywheels plus complete hydraulic systems that are already bled out. I'm wondering if I can use the high output clutch and pressure plate on the renix flywheel? I'd think that I should be able to... This is just a random question. I don't have a renix flywheel so I can't compare them Thanks, Pat

my 1988 jeep comanche "ole rusty"
JeepcoMJ replied to freakjeep93's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
ugh. worst rust ever. -
Thanks guys, Dirtear, I'm actually contemplating a complete 97+ front end on it...just because the fenders are already cut perfect for the bumper, and I already have most of the parts in "wheeling" condition. They are TNT customs boomerangs, which are now discontinued. I got them used from TNT (the club member) here.

Jakeman's Progression **SOLD**
JeepcoMJ replied to Jakeman17's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
very nice choice in tires...they'll last you :D positive note...I gave Rob that 2001 valve cover (with bolts for it in case they're different) as well as a headlight switch and connector with a decent amount of pigtails today, so whenever you make it over there you've got those :D. The valve cover needs one PCV grommet and tube thingy...my friend Aaron and I are going down to a junk yard by Rob called LKQ on sunday next weekend and I'll either grab one for ya, or you can come with if you have time. -Pat -
 I was freaking out thinking somehow wiring harnesses could have gotten mixed up or screwed you up or something on my end. ...karma lol. I'm glad that you have it running, and not so glad that it took so long. -Pat

you're brave... :hmm: -
....the 87 is actually all 95 parts so it's closer to that year.

fuel delivery issue. replace the filter. run some sort of injector cleaner through the tank. be prepared to replace the fuel pump. It could be the CPS...but that's not very likely in the event of a long crank/no start. my 87 does this if I don't let the fuel pump prime long enough.

you knew this was comin... :needpics:

cherokee rear leaves are shorter than comanche ones. so they just plain won't work...your axle won't be centered in the wheel wells. if you use them. the spring perches are different widths between being cherokee and comanche, on top of being SOA vs. SUA, so to use that rear axle you'd have to have spring perches welded in the right spot, with the pinion angle set correctly

Lets have your first comanche experience... I was 12 or so when I had mine. We've always been a jeep truck family...I can't remember a time when there wasn't a J-truck @ my house, as my dad's daily driver. I actually learned to drive stick (3 speed) on my dad's old '74 j2000 plow truck when I was 6 or 7...we affectionately called her "Black Betty"...later in life I learned that she was named that just to spite my grandma (on my mom's side) who's name is actually Betty :rotf: :clapping: :clapping: :rotfl2: Anyways, when I was around 12...just going into 7th or 8th grade I think, my mom had us take her to a farm to get her some goats to put in the pasture, as that makes it taxed significantly less being zoned agricultural and all. There was this (ugly, I thought) blue pickup there with an absolutely horrible light blue interior. The guy with the farm bought it new, and it blew a timing belt (yes, belt) and apparently broke something inside the motor. little did I know it was the beginning to an addiction. My dad ended up buying it for $200. it was a (then) rust free 1986 jeep comanche metric tonne with a 2.1 renault turbo diesel, 5 speed (ax5), 4x4 (np207), d30 front, amc20 rear, 4.10 gears, and only around 97,000 miles on it. It was the first diesel I learned to work on, and the first comanche as well. we ended up having to get a new timing belt and make a timing tool for it, then replace all of the valve rockers. all in all, it ended up costing around $700 to get road worthy. after that, my dad retired his last J-truck (a 79 j10 with a plow) and selling it, and it's been comanches ever since. to this day he hasn't invested more than $1500 all told in that truck. in fall 2004 we found my first comanche in the weeds behind a barn, the only thing visible from the road being the top of the cab and the cab vents. it was a 2wd 2.8 liter v6 longbed...1986. it cost me $300 virtually rust free, it later became the 3800. it was my first restore, first motor swap, first trans rebuild, first lift kit, first axle swap, first 4x4 conversion, first interior made, and first engine blown. any other good stories?

I originally signed up as jeepcom1 on Fri May 19, 2006 10:27 pm, then didn't post for about 6 months, while viewing it... then went back to school and forgot about comancheclub until I signed back up as JeepcoMJ after I forgot my password on Fri Feb 09, 2007 10:57 pm....so I've been here almost a year longer than what my screen name actually says. I actually was emailing Pete for about a year before I joined, trying to grasp tech on an upgrade for a 2.8 liter in what later became MJ 3800

just use the old bolt and a washer on the dakota line. done, finished. also, I ALWAYS turn the dakota brake line to sit on the axle tube the way it was meant to...it has a little indent on the T section that allows it to sit flush. year is 93-95

topics I'd hit are... "how will this directly effect me in my every day life" and, "Does this class even really matter?" ...I took alot of AP classes and tests in high school. they were still too boring so I got C's and B's no A's...tests turned out well though :D but seriously, why would you need to know about globalization? We need LESS of it...

I vote to be mean. holiday seasons aren't a get out of jail free card.

Yah, thats what I meant but in a polite way... As long as you've got the stuff I want I'm all for doing this on Sunday. I don't want to drive over there, give you the complete new style slip and come back without the rest of the parts to complete my old style clip... if you don't have the stuff I need ready then we can wait until you do. we will wait. the passenger fender, front clip, and front bumper on the 3800 are all OEM. I have a tan, rust and dent-free OEM driver's fender. it's just that I can't quite get to the front of the 3800 right now

I'll try and make something work for sunday if you will be around. it's not that you specifically are not welcome here....it's that jeeps are not welcome here any more because my mom is, for lack of better description, a @$#%.

The third and fourth pics are not the hi-beam switch, they are the ignition switch. This is where the rod comes from the key down the column to engage the starter and send 12v out to where it needs to be. I didn't look close enough. I don't think that that nob connects to anything. if you have a spare, swap it out. if not, I'll ship one out to you on friday. you *should* have a spare coil that came with the harness as well. did you try swapping the connectors around on the coil?

no. the parts he needs are on the 3800, which can't go 1' under it's own power much less to your place. Party at Pats place again! Yaaaayyyy! Rob L. nope. I don't need to hear my mom bitching anymore. when I move in to a new place then sure.
-
that light switch is probably not the issue. that connector is for cruise control..

may have some problems when it comes to this weekend Brent... I don't have the room to pull the 3800 out of where it's at right now, which is inaccessible. I won't have time to pull the front end off of it by then...and that's the only decent front end I have right now. saturday is going to be busy...I've gotta go up to green bay at some point with my boss to get my company van, and the time is really up to him, which he hasn't told me yet. also have dinner and a movie planned with a group of friends that evening. sunday I don't know about yet...I need to swap axles out of automan's xj and toss some 3.55 geared ones in it so I can get it sold and gain the space in my garage again, because I'm going to be buying a smaller jeep for d/d duty. the other thing...apparently it's not a good idea to have a "get-together" at my house this weekend. not my choice.

last week... installed some boomerang shackles in the rear today... with boomerang installed with stock on difference in length swapping the pass. side in how it sits now net gain, about 1.75"....giving the truck the proper rake, and now the back is just high enough to where it won't be low as heck with all of my trail gear. took about 15 minutes to install, man I LOVE rust free vehicles...the bolts came right out. edit: added bonus...my driveshaft angles were completely unaffected by the swap. still have two degrees positive travel for the pinion, perfect to put it in line with my driveshaft under forward motion

another one from when I was in socal working for the past 2 months... picked up a currie d30 johnny joint kit for $100 out here in socal. since i'm running a disco axle, i don't need the reinforcement brace...and since the joint is actually welded to the brace, I can't use it on my front axle. that said, for another $100 I can pick up two more joints, make that bracket, and throw two of the joints up front and then use the mounts as the upper mounts for a rear 4 link...and since i already have 4 RE superflex 2.5" joints...and a bunch of bushings and collars, I have every joint I need for a 4 link setup front and rear...though I could do a triangulated 3 link in the rear and save some money too.
