  1. It would be quite a thing to see a Liberty turned into a truck, but I'd probably never see one in my driveway - feel free to disagree with me but I don't think a Liberty pickup would live up to the Comanche/Gladiator/etc. name. A JK pickup, on the other hand, I'd love to see.
  2. Site looks great!
  3. As I said, it's not surging anymore - the new o2 sensor cleared that right up. As for the TPS I don't think it was adjusted but it seems to work and test fine. Plugs and wires were replaced about two weeks ago. Rotor and cap, not sure. The truck is running fine now.

$3.69/g for 87 this afternoon at Shell.
  5. About 3 days after I made this thread I ordered a new O2 sensor which almost completely fixed the problem. Thanks for responding anyway!
  6. I would start with the oxygen sensor. My 4.0 was having a similar problem and a new o2 sensor took care of it. Ain't got a clue about the TBI engines but I would look at the injector. Good luck!
  7. :rotfl2: This thing is fantastic. I wish my old PW Jeep was this tricked out! That's one lucky kid. Keep up the good work!
  8. Just got done going out for a test drive after changing the old O2 sensor. It runs fantastic now!
  9. As far as I know it's not too bad in Nashville - it's just a nox test unless something's changed. Ordered my new oxygen sensor to fix some misses and my horrid gas mileage (11 mpg last tank... my foot isn't THAT heavy!) :wrench:
  10. Prettied her up and made some pictures! And I noticed some small spots of fading paint on the roof :(
  11. Saw a kind of dark silver looking one Thursday on Tom Hitch Pkwy. in Columbia, TN. I didn't get a good look but I think it's a long bed. Wasn't in too bad of shape.
  12. Some digging tells me that '91-'96 will fit right in. I have no idea what the differences between the other years are, sorry. P.S: The technical term is 'header panel'.
  13. Hello fellow Jeepers, I have been driving my MJ around recently and for the most part it has been running beautifully, but for one problem: there seems to be a 'dead spot' on the throttle immediately after I press the accelerator pedal. It is more noticeable if I press the pedal harder, but if I hold the pedal in this specific spot the truck's RPM feels like it drops (can't be certain because I have a dummy cluster) and the truck bucks and misses constantly but does not stop running. It only surges at speed, but if I tap the throttle, it also seems to drop in RPM very quickly when it's parked. The fuel pump was replaced in April. The throttle position sensor was replaced earlier this week, and replacing it seems to have eliminated a seperate (possibly related) surging issue that happened at cruise speed. I've done a little bit of digging and it seems that it could either be an issue with the ignition system, an oxygen sensor or a MAP sensor. Could anyone possibly help me here? Recent work done: New fuel tank - it's been doing this since before the tank was replaced New transmission fluid and filter New throttle position sensor Refurbished tailgate handle - Anything's possible I guess :???: Thanks in advance for any help.
  14. A problem with the EGR valve seems plausible to me. Pretty much the same problem my father's Buick had til the EGR was replaced.
  15. 1: Isn't the CPS supposed to show open resistance (at the pigtail harness near the intake manifold, anyway) when ohmed out? If my brain is working today ( :dunno: ) that would indicate it's a bad unit to begin with. Mine tests open cold and warm. 2: I'll have a look real quick. Thanks! Cheers. P.S. My problem with random stalling (at least until after I write this post  ) seems to have mysteriously ceased. Since I started this thread I've put about 15 miles on the jeep and while the hopping and bumping which I believe is the TPS persists, it hasn't stalled. The day I started this thread it stalled 3 times in only a few miles. Just because I had one on hand, I replaced my ignition coil. What's the probability that I accidentally fixed my stalling problem?
  16. Checked the CPS wires and they weren't rubbing against the manifold. I believe I have all my recent problems pinned down to my throttle position sensor. Is the proper way to test it simply moving the throttle linkage and reading the voltage with a meter? Thanks!
  17. This heat is awful. Especially without working A/C on the MJ. :ack: I think it's going to be 94 today which isn't nearly as bad as last week. The humidity down here is what makes it terrible.
  18. 1. Stalled the first time at 45 mph, second time in a parking lot, third time at home. So both at speed and not moving, I would say. 2. Gas tank was about 3/8 full at the time. 3. Mid April. The truck's been driven about 125 miles since then. @Pete: I have yet to try that. New problem: Since replacing the ignition coil (spare one I have), I'm feeling what seems like a hard miss (sort of a bucking or hesitation) at about 35 MPH or so. It feels like the transmission is going back and forth between gears. These seem like symptoms of a throttle position sensor. Would I be correct in this assumption? Thanks for the quick responses!
  19. My 91 has been having a strange issue recently. Yesterday, I drove it approximately 5 miles during which time it stalled three times. There isn't any noises or drama when it cuts out, the engine just stops running. When I try to start it again, it starts fine and runs as normal. I'm thinking it's probably an issue with a grounding somewhere. Would I be correct in this assumption? The truck recently got a new crank position sensor which seems to test fine, but could it be involved? Thanks.
  20. Not going to spoil where it is but it's not a bad looking truck. Wonder if it belongs to a member here? :dunno:
  21. This is the ID plate on my firewall. On the writeup I saw, the color code is supposed to be the second group of letters in the third row. Plugging this code into google gave me the color of Silver Star Metallic. P.S. How do I remove the tailgate handle? Are the 3 Torx bolts on the back of the tailgate all that attaches it? Thanks a whole bunch.
  22. The paint code on the ID plate is PAC. My limited research has led me to believe the color is Silver Star Metallic. Also, the ID plate doesn't match the pattern you posted. I took a picture of my plate a while back and I'll post it as soon as I get to my computer. Thanks a whole lot for the comments, everyone!
  23. Yeah, killer deal there. Good looking truck, too.
  24. Everything is crammed together and the rear valve cover is right under the windshield wipers. Front wheel drive vehicles tend to have really cramped engine bays in my (limited) experience.

Thanks, I quite like it too! Your MJs are quite impressive themselves, and I especially love your Walker Evans truck.
