  1. Not a dodge. It was made by Steve from SMS headliners, who goes by a1500ram on this forum.
  2. Glad you appreciate it. Agreed but the ethanol gas runs quite a bit higher around here and at the time I needed to save as much money as possible. Soon it'll be back on real gas. These pictures were taken 2 years apart. As it appeared April 29, 2012 As it appears April 29, 2014. The past couple weeks haven't been terribly kind to this truck: - The ignition was improperly setup from a previous attempt to adjust the timing (please don't do this), resulting in a 3-day ordeal of trying to get it right. The harmonic balancer is bad, so its timing mark was useless to me when trying to fix it. It's now back to normal. The new HB is sitting on the floor of my garage waiting to be replaced. - The tire shop completely broke one of my center caps and damaged the screw holes on two others when they put my tires on. One was replaced for free, another one is barely hanging on, and the other two are fine. Funny that every time I removed them and put them back on, it went fine. Time to find a new center cap, I guess. I'm more angry that they seemed to think it was perfectly fine to have a center cap hanging from a wheel by only one screw. - My parents borrowed the MJ for the past couple days while I was at school to move some stuff into the new house. Today, among other things they moved a lawnmower. The front wall of my bed is now bent out from the lawnmower smacking into it. - I drove the truck on the interstate today and discovered a pretty substantial vibration at 65+ mph that seems quite a bit like a tire out of balance to me. Several front suspension components are in need of replacement and it badly needs an alignment (among other things, the caster angle is completely off) so I won't jump to any conclusions yet. The above combination of events have had me more angry than I've ever been in a very long time. I'm typically fairly calm but the past couple of weeks have been ridiculous and it reminds me of why I trust nobody else to so much as touch my truck. There is some good news, however. I got some light reading. Pics can't truly show how enormous the full FSM is. It's easily the largest book I have ever seen. Not pictured is an owner's manual. Also not pictured is the huge pile of parts sitting in my garage: - Shocks - Driveshaft U-Joints - Lower Control Arms - Harmonic Balancer & Puller - Parts to rebuild all 4 brakes - Wheel bearings More to come soon.
  3. Are those the 57 series lights? Let me/us know how you like them. I plan on grabbing some KC lights sometime in the future. That chrome bumper looks slick - I came about a heartbeat and a half from grabbing one when I was at the junkyard last time.
  4. FYI - the wiper linkages themselves swap over between all years, just not the motors. I used a 99 linkage with my old motor and new bushings and it works well.
  5. Big 2: April 2014 I promised a real update, and it's time to deliver. Two years ago to this day, I began working on what would eventually become my pride and joy. It's been a long road, and it's all starting to fall into place now. Here's how she sits tonight. The new tires, Cooper Discoverer A/T3s in 235/75/15 were installed today. It finally looks like a real truck! It rides like it's brand new again and sits noticeably taller. They don't rub, either. You can't go wrong with white letters out  If you stare intently at the previous pic, you may notice something else has disappeared... My anti-theft device, a badly cracked windshield, was removed yesterday. I was very glad to be able to see once again. Almost $1,000 in parts have arrived (including the parts necessary to completely rebuild all four brakes, a factory service manual, and various parts to put the truck in more or less mechanically perfect condition) so I'll have plenty to do soon. I need the truck operational to move houses, but I might be able to fit in shocks and a tune-up tomorrow. I've been very busy recently but hopefully I will be able to start work on the truck again. Total Expenditures since January 2014: $2,102.07  Junkyard: $105 total Oil filter adapter stuff: $8 Upper radiator hose: $15 Headlights: $30 eBay: $15 Tires: $675 Windshield: $210 Online orders: $985 Junkyard Parts: Door panels: 1988 Jeep Cherokee Limited Front bumper guards: 1992 Jeep Cherokee Sport Windshield wiper motor: 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport Tailgate handle: 1989 Jeep Comanche Mud flaps: 1987 Jeep Comanche Maintenance Status: Last oil change: 6qt generic 10W-30, 150,580, next change will be Rotella T6 or similar Had to go back to ethanol gas due to lack of funds. 6. Totally missing the point, but that is a really nice color on the KL.
  7. I'd push my MJ off a cliff before I did that to my headlights, but there are a lot of mods people routinely make to Jeeps that in my opinion deserve far more hate, although I'm usually not the kind of person to call people out on the (subjective) looks of their vehicle. It's their vehicle - they should be able to do whatever they want to do to it as long as it doesn't endanger others. But while we're here, I consider angry eyes on XJs and MJs pretty funny, but I'll never be scared of an XJ's front end.
  8. I think we can all identify with that
  9. 99.999% chance that the dually stuff has been out of production for almost 20 years. Edit: Woops. had this post ready to submit for hours and got beat by a few minutes with a better answer
  10. As strokermjcomanche said, they never came from the factory like that. The parts came from a JC Whitney catalog.
  11. Empty Post
  12. I bet it's one of them inline V6 engines.
  13. I'll bet the odo rolled over and it has a million miles on it.
  14. That's a gorgeous interior.
  15. Yup. Sold in October of 91. Got pics of your 89? Indeed... the MJ outshines my photography skills ;) Trust me, yours is d@%n fine, too. Also, I remembered tonight that the MJ is officially 23 years old today! According to the build papers, it rolled out of Toledo North at 12:55 on April 17, 1991. . :MJ 1: . Real updates will be coming soon.
  16. Neat. I've been on reddit off and on for a while, been wondering if something like this existed.
  17. Here's my retro interperetation of what the Golden Eagle may have looked like on an MJ. Personally, I think this would look good on an MJ. Quick and dirty, especially with the text. I might do some more later. FYI: That's the 1990 that sold at Barrett-Jackson for $11,500 in 2013. Can't help but notice it's a 2WD.
  18. I might take my shot at photoshopping me some MJ paint schemes. Will report results later. (and yeah, that golden eagle job would look sick on an MJ)
  19. Yes; the wiring for the doors run behind the kick panel through a small rubber nub. Easy to get to, and it was made a lot better when I installed the flex tubes(?) that the wiring fit inside. Also, the "chrome" is just silver touch up paint. I actually got the idea for it from RockMJ and his very sharp looking Toxic Orange MJ he had. In any case, thanks for the kind words! Oooh, the silver paint looks nice. I don't need any more stuff to do eventually! Glad to see wiring up the door speakers isn't going to be all that difficult. I think mine was a radio delete, so it didn't have anything in the doors.
  20. Tried my hand at throwing together an edited poser shot. Tell me what you think. it's now painfully obvious that I cut off the very end of the bumper when I took the shot and maybe I should take my parking placard off the mirror next time.
  21. Love the upholstery. If I didn't know better I would say the door panels were stock. Very nice interior overall. Is the trim on your dash bezel chrome or the dark blue that I seem to see on most of the older ones? Is wiring the door speakers (correctly) as easy as I think it is? Does the wire just go through the kick panel? Either way, I love how the build is progressing and I like the idea of doing video updates. I may just take that idea for myself. Oh, and I approve of your taste in music
  22. I'll have to get more, then! You would actually be surprised at how much your truck is actually worth. With the work you have already done to it, it is a very clean vehicle, and up north you could probably ask and sell it for more than your budget. I know a lot of guys would disagree with me on the price thing, but they are cheap asses :D I like what you have done so far. Great attention to detail, and excellent job turning her into a good driver again. Thanks for commenting. If I moved up north, I figure I could get a pretty penny for a rust free MJ, although I would be 100% certain it didn't leak from anywhere and would be sure to get proper undercoating first. It's not my biggest concern but keeping the value of this one up is a high priority. Although that's not a problem since I'm never selling it! We ought to set something up eventually. It still needs a few things for me to be comfortable on long drives with it but I'm getting there soon! In the next week or two, this build is gonna start getting fast paced. I'll soon be ordering lots of parts so my next update will probably be then. Stay tuned!
  23. Pics? Condition is everything. With a 4.0 HO 5 speed 4wd truck you have one of the best configurations.
  24. This won't be any consolation, but at least you weren't driving the diesel when this happened. I'm not going to comment on the state of the XJ since I don't know enough to make that decision, but I think I speak for everyone here when I say that we're all glad that you're doing alright. Even if the XJ is done for, it's only a vehicle, even if it is one particularly special to you. Good luck in your recovery.
  25. The NSS can cause a no crank condition. It's free to clean so you may want to look there also.
