  1. Stroker= good power, decent mileage (or $#!&ty, heard both) and a common mod. 4BT= great power, killer mileage, and a very rare mod. Only heard of one Comanche with a 4BT. Lowest mileage I've heard of is mid 20s with a good 4BT.

    Oil Rigs

Out in UT, its 16 hour shifts, 2 weeks on, 2 off, rig hands starting at $28/hr. Seems worth it to me? If you can handle the 16 hour shifts, absolutely! Let's do some math: 7x16= 112 hours 40x28= $1,120 (regular time) 72x42= $3,024 (overtime) =$4,144/WEEK. So, $8,000 before taxes in 2 weeks, and then you have two weeks to blow it. You could build your manche, buy another as trail rig, buy a tow rig and a trailer, and well  EDIT: Excuse me if my math is off. Been a while. Graveyard and living off minimal sleep doesn't help. :rotf:
  3. I vote 4BT in the wrangler.

    Oil Rigs

I've been tossing around the idea of doing it, and still might. From my dad talking to people out in Montana, youre looking at about 10 years worth of work. Start out at $27/hr and the cap is WAY higher. 12 hour shifts, 2 weeks on- 2 weeks off... ~4000-5000/month. Worth a shot
  5. They were $100, which from looking a little more at the new stuff, doesn't seem worth the risk. Was wondering if there was a noticeable difference. I'll just get some from a trusted source.
  6. Might hit up a guy on CL with 3" AAL springs for a Comanche. But being that it's CL and I've never done a lift or even taking off the springs on my truck (this is my first 4x4)... how do I make sure they're legit? EDIT: And if I get the leafs, should I just get 2" spacers in front, or get 3" coils?
  7. I will one day have one of these sitting in my driveway. I love bugs (and just about every VW... they're my non-American obsession) what are the plans with it?
  8. I agree! Maybe have separate sub-sections i.e. DIY stuff (custom cool things you build around the house), cars/trucks, bikes, etc.?
  9. May or may not have let out a slight moan when I saw that. Can you feel my jealousy radiating across the big pond?
  10. Somebody save this beauty and sell me the interior. ;) I would if I had that kinda cash laying around http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/cto/3793897003.html

    Bad Night...

Rough on the Heep. Glad you're okay.
  12. I went to leave my sister's house this morning, and noticed a HUGE puddle underneath my truck, most of which was fresh. By huge, I mean about 18 in. in diameter. Can't figure out exactly where she's leaking from. About 2 months ago I put a new felpro valve cover gasket on and did cruiser's valve cover mod. So that should rule out valve cover. Thinking rear main/oil pan, and have no clue where/why the axles are leaking. I just topped-off the gear oil in the axles and wonder if I over-filled them, or if they were just low enough to not leak anymore. I let the gear oil drain until just a trickle and then put the bolt back in. Which leads me to believe they are NOT overfilled. EDIT: This is passenger's side. Soon as I filled up the front axle, she started leaking right here. This is driver's side, just inside the u-joints. More leakage. I've already known that my rear axle seals were leaking slightly, and are now leaking heavily- which I will get to on payday. And the drivers side was barely leaking from around the u-joint. Could I have blown the inner axle seals? :dunno: Is it worth the money to repair the axles (machine shop pressing off the old seals) or just upgrade to D44s? Thanks for any input.
  13. Awesome! Might have to make a weekend out of it, and head up towards Baker to go wheeling (once I get my truck all prettied up, of course).
  14. As far as 4bt, Isuzu 4bd1's are also a great option. I was reading a swap thread on jeepforum (I believe) where the guy had a Mercedes 300SD and then went to a 4bt and said there was no comparison. Gas mileage is also usually exceptionally good in little trucks like ours with those. Heard upwards of 30s. But the swap is more for the awesomeness of having a diesel and the rarity. Personally, maybe it's because I work for a freight company, I LOVE the smell and sound of a diesel early in the morning. Ahhhh
  15. Love it! Would be awesome mounting on the back of my (future) toolbox. Stealing your idea :)
  16. I clear 31s no problem  ....and then I saw you're 2WD. So that might be a little more difficult
  17. How'd you mount the fishing poles? Just tubes?
  18. Would an XJ rear be a direct (well mostly...) swap over into an MJ. Got an offer for a free rear axle. Swap over the inners and it's mine. Would be a lot nicer and easier than flipping the perches on mine. Would that work?
  19. I'd take the snow or sun over 40-50 and overcast. Looks like Montana, where I'll be headed in 2 weeks.
  20. Heard it's amazing and planning on hitting it up for the day. Anyone else thinking of going? March 10, Puyallup fair, 9-4 http://www.moonshinersjeepclub.com/swapmeet/
  21. Will do! Considering buying some other CC stuff, so I'll order those at the same time
  22. Pete, I'm sad to say I didn't have a card to give. Or a scrap of paper to write on. Cody, tax returns! Hopefully I'll have enough to scrap together a lift and tires. Can't wait to watch my 4'11" girlfriend try and climb in then. HAHAHAHA
  23. Spotted this beautiful thing in Bonney Lake, Washington at Shari's (well, whoever drives it spotted me and parked in front of me). I rarely see Comanches, especially lifted ones, so I had to take a pic of it. Just wondering if said driver is on here. Makes mine on 31s look stock lol
  24. Like the lightbar idea. As far as helping out on the road, I say go for it. Let the cops work out all the legal BS (if there are any)
  25. Heard cibie e-codes are the best, but that's up to you if you wanna run "illegal" headlights. As others have said, proper adjustment, new harness, glass housings and some nice H4s will make a world of difference.
