  1. Today I had just a couple hours to mess with the truck. I got the bed sat into place and it doesn't look bad at all. I need to lower the suspension 2" but other than that I think I'm leaving it as it sits. I thought the 2" difference in wheelbase would stick out like a sore thumb but honestly I can't tell the difference.
  2. My daughter just blew up her 4.0 in the 99. It was so hot that 4 hours later it was still 190°! Needless to say it killed the lifters and bearings. I had a parts rig and yanked to motor and trans. She cooked the torque converter also. Then I put it in her 99. I drove the donor to where I pulled it and the oil pressure was perfect. After I installed it the Jeep had no oil pressure? Easy, the sensor went bad. Swapped sensor still no oil pressure. Drive Jeep around for about 20 minutes and all seems fine. No ticks, knocks or rattles. Must be a wiring issue. Had to of pinched the harness when installing the engine and transmission. She drives it the next day (Friday) 86 miles round-trip to work and back. Still runs great. Saturday morning I wake up and go buy a mechanical gauge just to ease my mind. Hook it up and start the Jeep. NO OIL PRESSURE! None! Pull the pan and find the pump is broke right between the mounting holes. I pulled the pump out of the junker and toss it in. Button it up and now it has oil pressure. She drives it every day and has put 2000 miles on it since I swapped the engines. To say a 4.0 is a tough dude is an understatement. They are amazingly well built engines!
  3. I will blow it back apart to clean, detail and paint all of it. It's just in mock up right now. I have to assemble it to figure out where the cab is best on the frame. We're keeping the original dash and interior stock appearing. The body will be stock also. Just modern running gear underneath to make a nice driver.
  4. Thanks John! It will have heat/sound deadening all over the floor, roof and doors. Then I will lay down carpet and install a headliner.
  5. I got the offending floor cut out to clear the transmission and transfer case. This allowed the body to set down a solid 4". The bed is next to be mocked up. Once everything is in place I will start the process of mounting everything to the frame.
  6. It's got a "smooth" firewall overlay that's got about 300 rivets holding it on. It stays, lol.
  7. I got the cab off the 48 frame and mocked into place on the 99 chassis. I will be chopping the trans tunnel to get the cab about 4" lower on the frame.
  8. We pulled the front wrap off the 48. Tomorrow I hope to get the running boards and cab unbolted. If I get lucky hopefully the cab is sitting on the donor chassis.
  9. I don't know if someone here runs them or not but my God what a disaster they are! I was a member of "All things Jeep Comanche" for less than three hours before I removed myself. The incorrect information and just plain stupidity on there is mind blowing! Some of the things that drove me away... The 90 Street MJ, the having to modify your cab for a after market rear window and it's fine to tow a 5k trailer with no sway bars! Holy crap! I will remain here and other real Jeep forums and let the idiots have FB. I don't have the patience to deal with that crap.
  10. It is a fun project. I can't wait to have it running. The engine will be in the stock Explorer location. The front fenders will be perfectly centered over the wheels with no firewall mods. The front frame horns will need to be cut to let the front apron fit. The wheel base is only 2" shorter from the F1's length. I had Tom at Alcan make me custom main leafs that will kick the rear axle back the 2". This will keep my rear axle centered in the wheel wells. I will have to move the cross member behind the rear axle back 2" to keep the shocks and sway bar happy. That's as simple as drilling 2 new holes and bolting it down. There should be plenty of length in the brake lines to accommodate the stretch. For the driveshaft, I will have one built to handle the 450 horse we are expecting the truck to put down with the super charger.
  11. I got the exploder stripped to where I can start the body swap. I'll be sending the ECU and the harness off to be converted to stand alone. It's getting there, just slowly.
  12. That axle in the first pic looks like a 8.25 to me. It has the pinion snubber bosses on the snout.
  13. Explain why you feel drop brackets are not any good? I have been using them for a long, long time and have had zero issues, ever getting hung up on them.
  14. Fellas, there is such a thing as minor death wobble. If you have been around these turds long enough you can feel the DW coming on. It will start as a pretty decent shake in the steering wheel. Not a shimmy, a pronounced shake. If you are fast enough you can stab the brakes to stop it and take the vehicle out of the vibration zone that is bringing on the wobble. Yes it can strike with little to no warning. With my LJ and WJ I could tell when it was coming. I fought them for so long I just learned not to induce it totally. Mike has probably nursed his rig home from the desert 1000X trying to avoid the DW. I know I have driven from the Hammers to 29 Palms several times at 46 MPH to keep the shimmy shakes away. I could keep my XJ just on the edge of full blown DW. It would shake the hell out of the steering wheel but not go into full on DW. With that said, to say there isn't such a thing as minor DW is just not correct. There is a difference.
  15. Quick video of the J10
  16. I plan on using a "GM" column so it has the collapsible feature. I also plan to add 3 point seat belts. To lift the cab I will use a engine hoist through the door and put eye bolts in the floor to lift it evenly.
  17. No it has a 327 SBC in it. It runs great but the entire suspension, brake and steering systems are down right dangerous. We are chassis swapping it onto a 99 Explorer. That way it will be all Ford.
  18. I'm building her a super charged 5.0, AWD 48 Ford F1.
  19. I have an S10 hard cover on mine. It fits pretty good.
  20. We got the J10 home last night. I spent the morning adjusting the IAC, TPS and timing. She runs great now. I also washed and waxed it. It has been sitting for about 2 years outside untouched. She looks amazing now!
  21. Yes it is. I have the center hoop but need the bed rail hoop
  22. $4000 for this one a few months ago. I'll buy the roll bar of it's not all rusted out.
  23. Problem with a lot of the newbs in this thread are they have been drug here from FaceSpace and Intsatard. They want their stuff instantly posted. Look at how many only have 3-5 posts. Sadly, social media is going to be the death of forums and message boards.
  24. I wonder why they swapped in the porno red interior?
  25. RLJPTRK If you didn't know already. Just seeing "Manche" drives me insane. I don't know why it irritates me but it sure as hell does. It is really that much harder to say the extra syllable?
