Does this make my @$$ look fat?
shelbyluvv replied to shelbyluvv's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
We took the boat to the Colorado River this weekend to break in the motor and get to know it. The wife did great loading and unloading it in the wind. We went up river from the Blue Water Casino where we put in and stopped at Buckskin Mountain State Park to let the dogs play Steph loves her new boat. It is very comfortable and I have made it my own. Steph thought my grill idea was redneck but I assured her it would be awesome. I was right. Nothing like a hot meal on the water. I have $50 total into something that Tracker wanted $325 for. We beached across from the Pirates Den to have lunch and play in the water with the dogs. We made a trip up to the Parker Dam before heading back home. Meg did great towing it. We were going to use the Trailhawk but it was really windy that morning so we decided the big girl would be a safer bet. -

I will be putting an Easy Troller on the outboard and possibly a 55# trolling motor on the front for smoother lakes. The Colorado River is 2 hours from here and we spend a lot of time there. -
I went to Bass Pro this weekend and picked up a new play toy. We settled on a Sun Tracker Fishin' Barge 20 DLX. This boat has two live wells and a bunch of storage. With my neck issues and my career winding down we decided a pontoon was the way to go. The WK2 Trailhawk pulls it like a champ. Having a 360 horse Hemi helps as well. The air suspension had no problem keeping the Jeep level. We are taking the boat to the river Saturday to make sure all is well and to gently break in the motor before it gets too cold.

Front stabilizer bushing failure
shelbyluvv replied to thejum57's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have and I have been messing with MJs and XJs for over 20 years. I saw first had what can happen by not running a sway bar on a 2" lifted XJ. My buddy rolled it on the street trying to avoid a car that pulled out in front of him. They are not "very stable" you handle like crap without the sway bar. I drove my 89 for 2 weeks without a sway bar and quickly found a way to put new links on it. I used to give the same bad advice you did. Until it almost killed one of my friends. A $20 part is not worth being killed over. I don't care if it is a week or an hour. Running a vehicle without a front sway bar is both dangerous and stupid. -

This is terrible advice! Please do NOT listen to this. Replace them. If you should be involved in a incident that you need to swerve you can potentially roll your truck. They are cheap and easy to replace. Don't be a hack and remove a much needed part. Dzimm, please refrain from giving this type of advice in the future. -

I got the CJ running pretty good so I took it out into the desert for a shake down run. It performed beautifully! This this is a beast off road. Just point the wheels and she'll eat! That is until you blow a power steering o ring and high tail it back to the house and things go from bad to worse. Lost a front wheel at 40 mph. Thank God I was out in the desert and not on the highway. All four wheels had worked loose. I ordered new lugs with a longer shank so hopefully this doesn't happen again. With the wheels coming off and this thing only having a stock roll bar I started looking for windshield bars or a better cage. Just so happens the guy I bought my EFI setup hit me up and asked me if I wanted to buy his old cage and sliders. We struck a deal for $200! Well, ok, I guess! -

I spent the last two days redoing my dash. A prior owner butchered it! Those three gauges are not supposed to be there. I removed the whole dash panel. Then cut out a square and welded new metal in. This is my first time welding sheet metal. I learned a lot. I then stripped, painted and installed all my new parts. I installed new gauges, lights, face plate and speakers. The gauge cluster is from Intellitronix and it is awesome! It was a ton of work but we'll worth it. -

I dig it. Pretty much the same thing I am going for with my 5er. Clean but functional. I can't wait to get mine back on the road. Wheelin' season is just starting out here in 29 Palms!!! -
Nope, just a bike that had the Comanche name on it. There is also a 29" mountian bike version

Now that the Jeep is fuel injected I needed a check engine light. I will be using this as my check engine light. I needed a way to let other people know what that glowing red ring means. I decided to rip apart my new fan switch and make something different. I drew this up on Microsoft Paint, attached it to a Word Doc, adjusted the size until I liked it, printed it and then I laminated it. I then trimmed it to fit into the fan switch housing. I also replaced the bulbs with blue LEDs. Not bad at all. It puts a unique spin on a boring check engine light! -

A lot of people think that is what it was for. It is actually a carry over from when the fuel filler was there. -

While I am waiting for Brandon to finish all the cool CJ stuff I decided to tackle the passenger side frame rail. I first cut off the remaining pieces of the stock cross member and pinned the crack. I then cleaned up the crack and ground out the center of it. I welded it shut, ground it smooth and hit it with some primer. I needed a way to keep the frame from trying to tear itself apart so I chopped up the stock bumper and made a stubby bumper/cross member. This should keep it together until the new stuff makes it in. -

This weekend I decided to replace the cracked steering box mounts with a MORE HD mount. Simple enough you would think. Nothing ever goes to plan. As I got into removing the stock stuff things took a turn for the worst. This is what scared me the most. So I busted out the cardboard and made a template of the newest Krustyballer cross member/winch mount. -

Look at another company. cRusty is a crook and his $#!& is garbage. Cavfab has a nice long arm upgrade. If you do go with that cRusty junk don't come back here bitching about it when the joints fail in 3 months. Iron Rock is up there with them as well.

I spent some time welding all the non factory holes shut in the firewall. I had some paint sitting on the shelf and wanted to see what it would look like on the Jeep. Well, I now know what color it will be painted. -
