  1. Spoke with seller. He will be posting multiple hi res pictures on a public site. He is aware of ComancheClub. For someone looking for a very nice Comanche this looks damn good. I don't like the bench seat no hitch and no metric ton package. Also think it is a short bed. Otherwise a damn nice truck for somebody here with the money. Yes GREAT weekend truck.
  2. No the PW/PL are not stock. Quote: "so I did just that with an OEM wiring harness out of another jeep and brand new Dorman window regulators and brand new lock solenoids...a very NICE upgrade." Doubt bidding will meet his reserve price. He seems to be testing the market in this listing. Quote: While I am not giving this truck away, I feel I have this truck priced very fairly based on recent sales, but I need your unbiased and honest bids in the event my reserve is not met as an indicator of its value should I decide to re-list.
  3. Saw this listed in the Sacramento area: http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/4033593913.html Even looks like it has the factory trailer hitch.
  4. So what is your guess for final price? My guess is $5699
  5. I did this swap a couple of years ago when the truck was getting some body work. I used a mirror switch/control from an Isuzu Rodeo for the power windows. Mounted it in the dash on the left side of the steering wheel - looks good. Hornbrod's diagram for the cross body harness and later added the power door locks, If I was to do it again, I would use the 97 + doors for the one piece window.
  6. The key is what condition is your bumper. Here in California we do not have the rust problems many others have. Do you know what the trailer weighs and what the loaded tongue weight is? You are correct about the mounting points of both the bumper and the receiver hitch. But the receiver hitch has 2 inch square tubing between the mounting points. Not so with the bumper, it is just thin mild steel that can twist and rust. Hit the bumper with a hammer and you will see metal damage. Hit the receiver hitch and you will see paint damage.
  7. Those early 60's (61-62) aluminum blocks did not last in production or in real life. I have never seen either the slant 6 block or the AMC block in a scrap yard. But you are correct about the hyper-pak power.
  8. Is this the same diesel MJ I saw on Arizona Craigslist about 6 weeks ago? Fellow advertising it said it needed work but the interior and body were really sweet. Think price was about $2K
  9. The engine in the picture is NOT an OM617 which is a 5 cylinder. It is a 6 cylinder from a 99, read the ad again.
  10. http://bakersfield.craigslist.org/cto/4010122409.html Anybody have a new "Cadillac converter" for this truck?
  11. Jim, he wants 97 or later.
  12. OK, that makes sense now! Let me see what I find next time I am at the pick n pull.
  13. Why not start with real Comanche rear flares??
  14. What are you going do about a color match??? Guess you could have your friend make the end caps for the seat back lever also??
  15. The M-B diesel has a lot of potential power. More important, it has torque, and it is fantastically reliable. Parts can be had all over the place.
  16. You do not want that engine. I had an 81 Chevy Impala wagon in 82 to 85. Slow but ran fine on the highway, 27 mpg if I remember right. But the head bolts were a problem, the injection pump was a problem. I blew two heads 6 weeks apart. one on the left side, then the one on the right side.
  17. Very little cab space?? You should try to fit yourself into a VW Rabbit Pickup, aka "Caddy".
  18. Price was right - $1150 Long Bed SnugTop shell Big Ton Package Lots of documentation since Day 1, including original window sticker No rust or body damage Cheap parts from XJ all over the place Great occasional work truck Comanche Club support
  19. Front main seal and maybe other places. Trans leaking from seal on tail shaft (again) less than 15K miles on a NOS seal I got several years ago from Don. Something must be wrong in trans. Seal should have lasted much longer. Original owner installed used engine at 98K miles, now 240K miles on truck but it does start easy and run smooth. So maybe cheaper to just get the engine oil leaks fixed properly is the way to go. Still leaves the trans leak as a problem. Stroker long block is gone from CL, asking price was $800 2001 Grand Cherokee engine still there for $450, supposedly 150K miles.
  20. My thoughts exactly. Why pay for crap built OR unknown. Hesco wants $6K for a long block + freight OUCH. My current engine and transmission are hemoraging oil and cost to fix will be high. Thinking might be a good time to rebuild, to to find a good shop takes a bunch of leg work. Exacerly Brett. That's why I asked for the year. In a perfect world Pete, that's cool. But a wanna-be DIY engine builder using a stroker recipe he found on the web, built one himself or farmed it out to a local machine shop, and it actually ran (for a while), that's pretty common on the stroker forums. While I admire the DIY attitude, it can end up costing a lot more in the end than buying a built crate from a reputable supplier. And sketchy paperwork at best.
  21. A fellow not too far away from me is advertising a 4.7 long block with "23,000" miles. He is parting out a Wrangler. What seems like a reasonale price and what should I look for? I am looking at spending some money to get the current engine, but with 240,000 or so miles. Maybe it is time to look at a Stroker for replacement? My truck is a 91 with AW 4 two wheel drive. There is another fellow with a 2001 engine out of a wrecked Grand Cherokee for $450 that may be interesting. Any thoughts appreciated.
  22. Don, Contrats to the new Lt. and her proud papa!
  23. With a battery, you are paying for two things: 1) The warranty. Sombody has to pay more $$ for a longer "free" replacement. 2) Cold Cranking Amps/Amp hours. Find the biggest size case that will fit the truck - usually extra CCA for the same $$. Then, decide how much you want to pay for the various warranty terms.

    Time Capsule

Recall when in second gradel my class made a "time capsule" and planted it under a new tree on Arbor Day. Often wonder what happend to the capsule. The school was still there even 4-5 years ago. Went back, but never could figure out where the tree was planted 50/60 years ago in 1956 Time capsules are supposed to keep treasures from the past, to educate the future. You guys are thinking of a coffin. Bury it once and forget about it after a generation.
