  1. the XJ shaft with the auto is about 1.5" longer then the 4.0 5 speed MJ shaft. That's fully compressed. I will get en exact measurmentfor you this week. I also may have one I can sell to you. I believe I have 4 or 5 of them laying around. Just let me find one with a good CV and slip yoke
  2. Well I finally got a little more work done on the Chief. Installed new upper and lower ball joints, Replaces the smaller shafts with TJ 297 joint shafts and new spicer joints, wheel bearings (just waiting on one to finish the driver side) Installed the new Tera Cross over steering knuckle and SS front brake lines, Trussed the Dana 30 and relocated the track bar mount and built a new track bar and regeared the Dana 30 to 4.10's for now to match the 8.8 rear. Once my Currie HD tie rod ends get here I can finish the steering all up. On the rear I got all new roters, calipers and pads. ran all new brake line fron the new 96 booster and master to the rear. Also got the Tera SYE installed and got the Tom woods drive shaft ordered up in friday and should have it this the middle of the week. Trussed 30 and track bar mount SYE installed Tera knuckle pushed the axle forward a little and clear back side of the fenders with the 35's with no trimmimg
  3. I can get that measurment for you Friday if you still need it. Just let me know
  4. I believe the Chain is about $85 to $100. I think that's about what I paid for the 231. Chain and the rebuild kit with all the bearings, seals and the plastic sliders for the shift forks is about another $80 to $90
  5. I ended up parting out what was left of the J truck. To many projects and not enough time. I may end up getting another one somewhere down the road.
  6. That would be mine Thanks, Glad your diggin it. She still looks excatly the same. I haven't been working on it much. Trying to get the Chief that I'm working on done so I have something to wheel for the winter. I didn't do any kind of detailed write up on the bed bob. I just took a 7" section out between the tail lightt's and the wheel well and pieced it back together and notched the lower section under the tail gate so I could still use the tail gate. If you would like I can take a couple pictures for ya if it would help. Brian
  7. the 4 banger mounts are way diferent then the 6 cylinder. the 4.0 mounts are set forward a little more then the 2.5 but they bolt in the exact same location on the frame
  8. I had a hard time mking up my mind also but ended up going the long arm route
  9. for some reason those TJ flares don't look right on there.
  10. If you call SLOOOOW a rate. This is taking me so much longer then I thought it would. It's just one thing after another after another after another
  11. DO IT! These things were ment to be on 35's
  12. How are the road manners with that much lift? Does it wonder? Get alot of bump steer?
  13. Not really fond of the flame job but the paint and body work itself looks great.
  14. Started mocking up my long arms this past weekend. I got a Tomken XJ long arm crossmember for free that my cousin had laying around so I just used that to save me some fab time. I have polly bushing at the frame side and Johnny joints at the axel side and 2"x.25 DOM for the lower arms and picked up a set of cheep RE adjustable upper arns and just used them for the top arm, Got the 8.8 all mounted in with Ruffstuff antiwrap spring perched,u-bolts and upper spring plates. U can also see where I made the fuel tank mount independent from the bed so if I decide to put a bed back on it it can be removed with ease. Here she is sitting ion all 4 35x12.50 BFG muds and 15x8 soft 8's with one wheelin trip on them for $400 and a set of new TJ 7.5" coil springs. Coint to fab up the track bar next and picked up a tera knuckle and going to make my one trag link with 1.25 chromo tubing. Still alot of stuff to do but she's getting there.
  15. she's gettin there. Finally getting ready to throw the brush guard on?
  16. What's wrong with wheelin an Amigo. I had one and it was the $#!&.
  17. kbb shows that it is worth around $3500 for a 2wd in good condition. The guy is asking $3000. I am thinking of offering him $2600 cash because of the AC issue. I need a new daily driver. My comanche is going in the shop and I sold my rubicon last monday.[/quote If you do buy it I have an AC compressor for ya. Make ya a nice deal on it
  18. Nice truck.. Verry clean job you have done
  19. That's what happened to the 4.0 in my old 90 cherokee. I used a little tape to hold the hose into the PCV and the tape melted and pluged it up. Before I knew it there was a huge cloud of smoke behind me and the oil psi droped to 0 and she locked up on me. Blew out the reear main
  20. I would ditch the off road lights. Looks a little cluttered up front but that's just my opinion. Other then that it's comming along real nice
  21. Rustys makes complete bed sides for the MJ? Does any one else make glass bed sides for them that you know of??
  22. Got some more work done on the chief this weekend. Got the 8.8 in it and the spring over done with the Ruffstuff antiwrap pearches, spring plates,u-bolts and shock mounts. Ordered all new brakes and claipers and roters today. Hoping to have the HD SYE here soon so I can get a rear drive shaft ordered and I'll be all set with the rear suspension. Then I can get started on the front long arms. I'll post some new pictures up on Sunday.
  23. cleen lookin truck ya got there
  24. Yep. They bolted right up Would the newer doors bolt up? No. I believe the hinges are the same, but the striker and latch systems are completely different. Eventually, My doors will get upgraded to complete the look of a 98 MJ. Not sure if Brian is going to upgrade his doors or not though. I just got a set of 99 doors and will be swaping them real soon but just as everyone else has said it is not a direct bolt on. Yes the 88 hinges will bolt to the 99 door but the striker in the door jam on the 88 has to be changed to the 99 style.
