Comanche Pu Missing,blowing smoke
BLHTAZ replied to p3m3o3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just because you replaced it doesn't mean that it can't be bad  . It has happened many times. The fuel injected engines don't have a choke ;) Could be a timing issue as the 2.5L (unlike the 4.0L) has a tensioner on the timing chain that does go bad and allow the timing to get way out of wack. -
If you can find an instrument cluster from a comparable year with the full guages, it is a pretty easy swap. You will need to change the temp switch to a sender for the guage and the oil pressure switch to a sender for the guage. A cluster from a 4.0L engine truck can be made to work, but it get's a little more involved. OH...BTW...Welcome to the Club  A big SALUTE & thank you for your service :USAflag: :clapping:

A couple new shots to revive this thread...

Still very hard to say without pictures on something like this, but cutting buckets off and moving them is definitely not the answer. Something about the axle is not oriented correctly...we/you just need to figure out what that is. Please post some pictures (as requested) so we can try to give you better advice if possible

Excellent...now let's see if they can make an MJ  (you know someone had to say it)

Gods speed and safe travels...

They are not easy to find anywhere. Why don't you buy that one since you have already found it?

Ya'll are asking questions that there really is no straight answer to. The cost of building a stroker is going to have many variables such as what parts you need vs. what you have, what brand of parts you use, how much work you can do vs. what you have to pay to have done etc, etc... I have seen strokers built for $1500 - $1800 and I have seen them go over $4000... If you really want to get in to all the detailed info on what you need and costs, the better place for that is here... http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/

Out of your two choices...the 3.55 is the way to go, but if you are going to go with 33's, you will really want a little lower gear...my preference would be 4.10.

:agree: It is the vacuum line to the purge canister

Ignition and Clutch Issues
BLHTAZ replied to Bansheemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes...that is what happens to a hydraulic clutch. With the older style cable actuated clutch, you could feel it getting weak and adjust it, but with hydraulic...it just wears down and all of the sudden quits in most cases. Mine did exactly that on the YJ as we were driving home from a trail ride one day and we had to call a tow truck to take it to the shop that I worked at then...4 Wheel Parts - Orlando. As Pete said, it is possible for the master or slave to fail internally and just not be able to hold pressure without leaking and I have had this happen to me too. -
Ignition and Clutch Issues
BLHTAZ replied to Bansheemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If you have no fluid loss, then it seems likely that it may be the clutch. The unfortunate part is...the only way to tell that for sure is to take the tranny out. The clutch kits for these trucks come with a new slave cylinder if you buy aftermarket, but I don't recommend using the slave from them. Get one from the dealer...you'll be glad you did in the long run...as I found out  -
While I do agree that the welding is the way to do it...the bolt on kit is tested and proven as a good alternative for those that don't have access to welding.

I did the welded perches with these... http://www.rubiconexpress.com/Products. ... ECEB366106

The wife & I gave up on buying stuff for each other years ago. We sometimes think of something we need or want and just get that as a "gift to us" type thing. We are in need of a new TV right now as our 12 year old 27" is about to give out on us so we are contemplating a 42" or 47" VIZIO for this years gift, but have made no decisions yet... :D . Kinda hard to think about spending $1000 on a TV with me still unemployed... So...let's see what those that are still in to it made out with... :clapping:

Comanche Pu Missing,blowing smoke
BLHTAZ replied to p3m3o3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Black smoke is indicative of a fuel problem...as in way too much fuel being delivered. May be a bad injector... -
Those are hilarious. I wish they would speak english though... ;)
-
Look at this thread... viewtopic.php?f=2&t=13581 About half way down I posted pictures of the different tranny's. ;)

Got your PM. I'll work on them and see what I can find for you.

Chopping sound under hard acceleration.

If the cat is going bad, the loss of power is not in your head. It will get worse and eventually the truck will not even run when the cat clogs up completely. The meduim inside is breaking loose little by little and it will get blocked sooner or later...again...IF the cat is going bad. Sounds like a good possibility to me from your descriptions though. -
You are right...the stock fuel injectors suck. This is the way to go... Replacement Fuel Injectors. If you use ' JEEP ' as the discount code at check out you will get 10% off ;) .
