That's pretty much the way we intend to do it...a little at a time so we don't go overboard. Cutting is definitely the first thing though.

OK...so that would be between 2-3 hours SE of where we are looking at. Blue Ridge is not dry, but just up the road in the next county is. We have vacationed there 3 times in the last two years now and we are going back again in October. The last time we were there, we went to Tellico (only 40 minutes away :D ) and on the way back I tried to get beer at a gas station about 5 miles North of Blue Ridge, but no...dry county  .

 That's my kinda deal. Keep the build post updated. The name for it will come to you as they all seem to "earn" their name ;) .

When I did my conversion...I bought one from these guys... Radiator Express Nice radiator, cools very well and never goes over about 200...even in 90+ degree temps with the AC on.

That's awesome Pete. What p[art of Georgia are they in? We are looking at property in the Blue Ridge area right now. Hope to have someting and be able to move up there within the next 2-3 years.

They definitely have the right equipment

Yes...they are good. You are correct in the fact that they are the Mopar Performance upgrade plug as well. I run them in both of my 4.0L Jeeps as well as in my 2002 Ram 4.7L. I have come across some 4.0L engines that don't like Platinums at all for some reason, but that has only been maybe two or three times in 20 years. ;)

You are...a POS that was a real PITA ;) . It's a good thing to be missing :D . -
Just remember that you get what you pay for when you are looking for new ones again in a year or so. ;) I have used nothing but ProComp ES9000 shocks for about 5 years now. They are not expensive at around $40 each, but are far better quality than most in that range.

Seems to be a common problem. When I bought my truck it didn't have the bottom on it either. I replaced it when I did the cooling system conversion. They are not expensive...even at the dealership.

My job sucks right now. I work at a Jeep dealerrship in the Parts Deptartment on commission. With things the way they are right now my income has dropped by $800 a month compared to last year. The price of gas...and everything else is taking it's toll. We have been in our house for 23 years and refinanced it twice in the last ten for lower rates. We also cut up all of our credit cards about 7-8 years ago, paid them all off and made a commitment to not own any credit cards again. Don't mean to be off topic here, but this is how we are dealing with the "INSANE" gas prices instead of going to a little car ;) .

We talked about that too, but not sure if we like it or not yet. ;)

The pic below kind of shows it all. There would normally be a heater control valve in the area of the yellow circle, but in this pic the heater hoses go directly to the heater core with no control valve as shown by the red circle. It also shows where the overflow bottlwe mounts, but on your Jeep there is some electrical stuff there, including the ignition coil, that would hve to be relocated. Mine has the same set up so I chose a generic bottle from Discount Auto Parts and mounted it on the firewall where the old pressure bottle used to be. This is a typical set up with a heater control valve... -

A new water pump is not required, but mine had a very small drip coming out the bottom so I chose to do it at the same time. If you are going to go through with it, you will need... - '91 & up Radiator - '91 & up heater hoses - '91 & up heater control valve - Some kind of overflow bottle (I chose a generic one from the autoparts store) - Some hose to run to the overflow You could also do away with the heater control valve by going with the '97+ style heater hoses that run directly to the heater core. -

:hmm: I have not seen one without and electric fan. Do you have AC...maybe the ones with no AC are without a fan?? Anyway...I know there are easy ways to make the fan work with a manual switch, but I wanted it to work the way it was designed so it was a real pain to figure out and definitley not worth the effort. -
OK...I did what I could to make choice #3. I actually kind of like that myself too. Damnitman...I thought I was finally settled on what to do :headpop: :D

...and use the KY Jelly with the "warming sensation"...

I have a couple ditfferent threads on here about the change. I will tell you that had I known what a PITA it was going to be, I would not have done it this way. Here is my thread about the biggest PITA of the change... the electric fan operation... http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopi ... conversion Here is my thread on the conversion itself... http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopi ... conversion Replace your radiator with the same style and then look here for a very detailed write-up about using a Moroso Expansion tank to achieve the same effect without all of the other issues I went through... http://www.markashurst.com/Jeeps/Moroso/ -
Yea...it definitely needs to be cut, but we just think there is too much Blue so we are trying to balance it out a little better. I think the real thing will look much better than what that picture does because of my limited photo"chopping" skills.

After adding the bumper to the front, many of you brought up the fact that the air dam under the front needed to go. I agreed, but was not sure exactly how I wanted to do it. Tina and I have been playing with the picture on the computer and have decided that we like this version. It is pretty much the cut that everyone does, but we had to decide if we wanted to paint the flares and what other changes to make. We decided on... (computer moc-up shown...forgive my lack of skill) - Cut the front - Paint the flares to match bumpers & bar - Paint the cab side vents to match silver Before After

I thank and salute all who have given some...and some who have given all.
