So I changed my Valve Cover Gasket
BLHTAZ replied to Ben-88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Glad it worked out for you. I have to do mine soon too as mine is still the silicone only. The cover has been off a couple times at the dealership, but a gasket was never used...only silicone just like it comes from the factory. I am going with the Felpro cork on it though as I have always had good luck with them. -
Yea...I forgot about the smoking thing. My Ram didn't smoke at all, the YJ did a little and the MJ smoked a fair amount, but not terrible.

Sea Foam works great for upper intake cleaning too. With the engine running, you take the vacuum hose from the power brake booster and stick it in the can of Sea Foam and let it suck it in while using one hand to keep the idle speed up and not stall the engine :brows: . If it seems the it's going to stall even with the RPM's up, simply pull the hose out of the can and let it catch up. I believe the can actually has these instructions on it too.

Vacuum actuator on 1991 front axle
BLHTAZ replied to broythomas's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yea...you can achieve your goal of having 2L by using a cable actuator as well. Right now I have the Posi-Loc, but you can make your own from a bycycle shift cable and just lock and unlock it manually. Cost about $20 for all you need. ;) -
It may just be shocks. Whast do you have on it now...stock suspension or lifted? The stock suspension is the softest you will find so if you are stock, then shocks are the only thing to really play with.

Project: The Duke - 56K warning - NEW PARTS 8/04
BLHTAZ replied to Phoenix of Fury's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
 Nice work. The rear does look a little far forward, but remember that it moves backward when compressed. -
8) Cool... Update us with what she thinks when she tries it. Here is a shot of my "drink fridge"... Yes, I have one deicated to drinks  Tina has Wine & Margaritas in the kitchen fridge ;)

It is REAL Limey? The Wife doesn't really care for Beer much... likes the Apple Brews and stuff, but Haven't found a beer that she cares for. When we went to Germany a few years ago she would drink the Beer that was 1/2 Beer (Light Brew) and 1/2 "Lemon aid", although I suspect it might have been something carbonated like 7-Up/Sprite, but not sure... Yea...it has a little more lime than I would normally put in my beer, but it's not over powering. If it's the "beer" taste that she doesn't like, then she might do OK with this. I like it a lot (as I sit here drinking one), but I don't think I could drink more than 2 or 3 in a night. Kind of like real sweet candy...there is only so much you can take at one time. I know...we are breaking a Man Law here ... "Don't Fruit The Beer" ... but, it's good. Never cared for Zima though... ;)

If you are going to be anywhere near the Orlando area, shoot me a message and we can try to get together. Would be cool to go wheelin' if we can, but maybe just to meet and have a beer or something.

I have seen that happen with people switching to AMSOIL inan older vehicle too. They think the oil did some damage to the engine, but in reality it cleans it up and takes away the junk that was plugging the problem areas that should have been fixed long ago. I have never used Sea Foam in the crank case...only the gas. All of my vehicles run Synthetic oil, so I have no need to put anything in the oil.

Belt squealing ... finally found the problem
BLHTAZ replied to BLHTAZ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I did this last night and the sqealing stopped again so we'll see what happens in a few days. I did have the pulley pushed on too far as it was about 1/8" in past being flush with the end of the shaft and it is supposed to be flush. -
Vacuum actuator on 1991 front axle
BLHTAZ replied to broythomas's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The axle shaft change is the way to go. Yukon sells a kit for about $40 with a block off plate and the needed seal and then all you need is a one piece axle shaft. Get the axle out of a '96 or later Jeep so you get the stronger u-joint. -
That's a real purdy sensor there Chico... ;) :D
-
Personally...I would not bother with a used compressor or bearing changing. You can get "NEW" (not rebuilt) compressors in the aftermarket for $200 or a little less. I just did it on our YJ and the MJ is going to need one soon too. When new stuff is that cheap...why mess with junk yard junk?
-
A guy at work tried the Clamato stuff and said it sucked. He also tried the Chill and said the same, but he likes the BL Lime too. It really tastes like Beer with lime.
-
It has that too... ;)

Would like to see pics, but from the description I would say not more than $1800. My son bought a '96 a couple months ago that is stock, but in pristine showroom condition inside & out with only 59K on it for $3500.

...the new Bud Light Lime yet?? Both Tina & I really like it
-
The one from the '88 would not likely work as that is from a Renix and you have OBD1 in yours. There is a very good chance that the one from the '92 will work, but definitely not the Chevy.

MUD FLAPS...?? Why would you be forced to do such a thing to your truck? I guess we really are spoiled living in Florida when we drive stuff like this on the road and don't get bothered... :D (2.5 tons, 49" IROKs)

That is odd...BUT, what I find even more intriguing is the fact that you can find enough MJ's in salvage to duplicate the issue. When I was looking for seats for mine, I found one MJ in salvage out of at least 8 phone calls to yards around here.

I have seen Seafoam in several different auto parts stores so it should not be hard to find. Looks like this...
-
OK...but do you have the machine to pull the correct vacuum on the system before trying to charge it? You can not charge an AC system without the system having a vacuum in it to start with. When the system has been open and voided, there is no way to recharge it without an AC machine.
