Not a picture, but definetly Comanche

"this one actually starts and creates forward motion" What more can you possibly ask for? :dunno: :rotf: :clapping:

Will the rims/tires out of a comanche fit on a1950ish willys pickup? Friend of mine just called me, he need a set of wheels to roll his willys out of the garage, and i have a set somewhere out there buried under 1.5meters of snow... I know both are 5 lug but thats about it :dunno:

Yes, the water level in the river had drop during the winter leaving up to half a meter of air between the ice and the water. Kinda scary when you fool around minding your own buissness, and CRACK-BANG, the ground just opens up underneath you and try to swallow you rig! :hmm: :help: Nothing dangerous about it thou, I didnt even get a scratch from that incident on my rig. And most of the times we followed the "safe" trail when driving on the river.

Why do you do that? Cold starting is the worst thing you can do to any engine. don't start it unless your going to drive it, you might actually use more battery power cranking and starting the engine than the alternator can recharge at 5minutes of idling, not to mention the lack of lubrication and excessive engine wear before the oil reaches operating temperature. But i can't tell you why it stopped :dunno: ...

Got a little bored so i figured i might as well post some pictures from this weekends winter meeting. Its one of the last good old fashion meetings over here where you can drive whatever you want as long as it got a roll bar or a roof. Personaly i put the diesel MJ on a trailer and gave it its first offroad run. This is just a little taste, more pictures on the scandinavian pirate4x4 forum, link here: http://pirate4x4.no/forum/showthread.php?t=22762

Found this today: A friend of told me about them, and off course i had to check it out! They were MJ bedliners for shure, 5 long and one short! I also asked around a litte and got in touch with the owner. Turned out he owns the super clean black MJ i see around in town every now and then! The bedliners are never used and was bought from the local jeep/crysler dealer cause they only collected dust there. He also had 2 unused factory rollbars. All of this was for sale for a decent prize! I got his phonenumber and promised to give him a call, but I'm not shure about the bedliner? Will dirt and moisture get trapped under it and cause the bed to rust faster? Will my factory rollbar cause issues?

 TNT Are your jeeps stick or auto? Stock or stroked? I like drifting in the snow, but I'm not quite confident with the auto. it just doesnt shift down when i want it to and when it does i usualy get a little suprised...No way i would drift it like you do! Not that it matters that much, i satisify my drifting needs in my 4wd VW van.... best car i have ever driven on snow and ice

Got stuck in the snow and had to dig myself out. My parents and brother and i was going to our cabin to remove the snow from the roof. They brought theyr skies but i was just big mouthed and said "no way, skies are for pu$$ies, ill just air down the tires and drive that last kilometer in the snow" I have driven to the front door of the cabin several times in deep snow, but this time i only got 100meters before i had to call my dad and kindly ask him to retun back with my brothers skies...

Broke a banjo bolt on my bosch ve diesel pump!
Joop replied to Joop's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No NAPA here. But it shouldnt be a problem to get a new bolt with the proper sized orifice (if that is important, according to jeepcomj it probably is) The renault 2.1 is widely used in several common cars around here. -
Broke a banjo bolt on my bosch ve diesel pump!
Joop replied to Joop's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
At everyday driving and higway speeds, youre probably right abut that. But not when crawling around in 1th low and youre running more boost and fuel than stock. I might even look for a bigger intercooler at the junkyard if it doesn cool down the intake temp just by moving it. -
Broke a banjo bolt on my bosch ve diesel pump!
Joop replied to Joop's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanx for the quick reply! Guess there won't be any test driving this weekend... Moving on to the next step instead, how to get the intercooler in front of the radiator where it might actually do what its supposed to do! -
Ok, i know theres not many here with the 2.1 diesel MJ, but the bosch ve pump was used in everything from small VW's to big dodge's so maybe some of you can help me out... Thing is i broke the banjo bolt on the return line at the rear of the pump. Anyone know if i would blow up something i i replace that bolt with a solid one?? The excess diesel still has free flow back to the fuel thank, it just won't be any flow between the return line and the pump. I'm almost ready to fire it up again and i can't get a replacement bolt untill monday, and then i won't be back here wrenching untill next friday :fs1:

Pulled out the diesepump unit from the 2.1. Now thats a pain in the ... engine to wrench on!! I have reason to believe the main seal is leaking, making it suck air instead of diesel and that again makes it unbeleavable hard to start. Hope it can be fixed cheap and easy... And between my battles with the french diesel I did some mandatory snow crawling with the 4.0L About 1m of fresh white powder here right now but the jeep does just fine

Plugged out a few vital sensors on the 4.0 before i headed home to my parents. don't trust my neighbours in the city enough to leave a car with "keyless entry" and "keyless ignition" all by itself troughout christmas. Who knows, some :dunce: might want to drive home from the pub... First i did when i arrived at my parents farm was to dig out the diesel from the snow, pull it out of the driveway and into the garage. Nice to have something to wrench on when I'm here :clapping:

Got this "click-n-ship" notification from usps 5days ago, but when i try the online tracking link it shows no action at all :( Should i be worried? :dunno:

Sorry for asking, but what do you need that for? :dunno:

What exactly do you mean with "carb heater"?? The electicaly heated automatic choke or the flap in the airfilter box that sucks hot air from around the exhaust manifoild at when air temperature drops?? Neither way, i think i know what your problem is: The auto choke recives 12V power and slowly starts to turn itself off as soon as you turn on the ignition. After a while it will be completely off, and at the same time the engine temp should have risen enough for it to run and idle well unchoked. You say your engine is running cold. This means that after, lets say 5min of driving, the chocke would be turned off, but your engine temp is still to low. Wich result in rough idle and/or engine stalling. On hot days this problably won't be a problem. I would suggest that you investigate your low engine temperature further, any good running engine should reach running temp in less than 25 minutes, even in cold weather. Yor brand new thermostat might have a fail or not the required opening temperature. Time to get another one?? Or even better...do as 86fubar says! Thrust me, its worth it!!

heater blower motor resistor were its located?
Joop replied to trapperbb's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Under the glove compartment, just above where you passenger would have his/hers right foot. Let me guess: you blower only works on max speed? -
Thats one bad @ss diesel engine! Several of my wheeling buddys have nissan patrols with the sd33turbo. Properly adjusted, 3"exhaust and bigger intercooler they almost outrun my 4.0L..... I know for shure that there is an XJ running with that engine somewhere here in norway, but i have never seen any pictures of it. Be shure to post many pictures when you do the swap
