I tried to get used to the SoCal board but I just couldn't. Among other things, it struck me as a small tight group that wasn't open to outsiders. Even the classifieds were a joke. A handful of locals lurk to snatch anything close to a good deal so they can sell it on Ebay. Sometimes they don't even take new pics, they just re-use the NAXJA ones. In short: Not anything that I would pay to be a part of.

My $.02 : 1. This is going to be one heavy trailer. 2. It's going to be a little tricky attaching the tongue and having it be strong enough- without looking like something from a Jeff Foxworthy routine.

I sure had good luck with the Isuzu diesel in their small truck several years ago. The company I worked for had 5 of them. Acceleration was slow, but it didn't matter if the truck was empty or at max load. 45 MPG too.

Death wobble and alignment issue
Tracker replied to JOMJ87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've done a couple track bars like this: >Steering dead-ahead straight and wheels off. >Tape a weighted piece of string to your flare or fender, with the string centered to the axle. This assumes both sides of the truck are semi straight or at least not caved in. >Measure the distance from the string to the axle on both sides and adjust the track bar until they are equal. If you know the thread count on the track bar you can do a little math and stick it with the first adjustment. -
[/img] I go dry from time to time. Here's a couple of horny toads in the reef with native decor,

I have kind of a unique opportunity with job related (Game Warden) situations. I often have to store evidence critters until a case clears, which means in my personal tank. Piranhas, snakeheads, african clawed frogs, and a lot of tame but interesting things get to temporarily live in my tank. My house gets pretty popular with the neighborhood kids when I have a tank full of nasties.

I have a 70 gallon reef system that's morphed many times in the 20 years I've had it. The reef / saltwater thing got a lot harder to do when I moved away from the coast. Nothing like free saltwater to keep the maintenence cost down.

DoH! Wrong forum? (My Chipmunk with a K&B 6.5 did the same thing.)

Here's a rollbar from a '95 Chevy S-10 put in an '87 MJ shortbed [/img] The fit was pretty good. A couple bolts on the driver's side were kind of tough to get to but nothing the right tool couldn't handle. On the wheel well mounts I made a couple wedges out of square tubing to go under the holes that were on the curve of the wheel well. [/img] $100 bucks on craigslist, and it came with the 2 KC marshmallow roasters on top

The line from the top of the load sensing valve goes to a "T"; one side which goes to the rear axle and the other side goes forward.

Maybe we're just lucky to have one that works right, and to live in the land of no rust. 8) When we went SOA, our kit (also not forum approved) had a bracket to relocate the valve linkage. It all still works great. Recently, we had a bit of a par-tay and had to haul 600 pounds of ice in the MJ. It made a noticeable difference in braking.
-
Watch- This forum tends to hate that valve. They'll tell you to junk it and do everything but fix it right. Our MJ isn't here right now or I'd go look at how the lines are ran. Our rear brakes work great.

If they lurk on MJ forums they may now want to take the fun out of everything. :brows:

Some of the U-Hauls out here won't let just anyone rent a tow dolly and drive away with it. I had to bring in the vehicle that would be doing the towing, tell them what was going to be towed, then the tow vehicle got inspected and the ratings were checked. PITA, but I had a snapped ball joint and not many options.

I guess losing a finger is no biggy but who wants to stink? Out here in Ca., we have to ship snappers back to where they might have come from when we find one, (Game Warden here). There's actually turtle rescue groups that pay for this too. I really ruined their day once when I told them of commercial market harvesting. Some people think that only things in stores with a price tag can be eaten.

To all that share the love - hate Jeep relationship!!
Tracker replied to Wags's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This was one symptom of a gremlin that about drove me nucking futz. It turned out that the PO had crammed a single element bulb into the 2 element (1157) socket in the rear. The single contact would sometimes short the running light circuit to the turn / brake / hazard circuit, and, sometimes not. :headpop: -
Driveshaft lenghts - 2wd and 4wd SWB MJ
Tracker replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just happen to have one laying in my garage. From u-joint center to u-joint center it is 58.5 inches. This is from an '89 2wd, 2.5L, AX4, D35. I saved it because it is one of those that is encased in a rubber lined tube. It may get cut down to work on the lifted 4wd. -
To you younger folks that have yet to find your path in life: Consider a job that gives you toys (like the ones mentioned and more) then pays you to go out and play with them. I've been a California Game Warden for many years and I still can't believe I'm paid to do what I do. Yeah, there is the part that makes it "work", but the rewards (and the toys) more than make up for it.

I was hoping the color was not what my screen shows it as. What I'm looking at is "Forest Service" green. :ack: Even so, I'd drive it.

Here's the California view on the subject; maybe a little oversimplified; It's not legal to drive faster than it is safe. ( Ca. Vehicle Code, section 22350) Forget the signs unless we're talking about certain specified maximums like freeways or school zones. The signs are otherwise suggestions, based on traffic engineering studies for the "normal" conditions found on a particular stretch of road. It's not necessarily illegal to go faster than the posted speed limit- but if you do and someone challenges you on it, be prepared to explain why your speed was not unsafe at the particular time and place. It could be tough but not impossible. The easier way to live is to drive close to the suggested posted speed limit. Now remember I'm talking about California law. Yes, I am a cop.

I tried my hand at it once. It was fun. I blew up some bottles and even made some that was drinkable. Wine making was interesting too. With both I found that if it didn't taste real good just drink some more and tell yourself that your creation is "an acquired taste". :D

Is this ceramic piece important?
Tracker replied to JohnQ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The value is cast into the ceramic heat sink. It looks like 1.1 ohms to me. I'd check another MJ of the same year or a schematic to see if that is the correct value. -
This is a big one- and so is its effect on motorcycle cops. It's a close second to flicking a cigarette out the sunroof and having it bounce off the cop's chest.
