  1. Find yourself as many toilet paper and paper towel tubes for making angle templates at your tube intersections. Way easier to screw up those and throw them away rather than a pile of expensive tube. I'd use DOM for at least your main hoops/overhead pieces and HREW for everything else. Again, all in the interest of saving some cash while still keeping things safer.
  2. ... you have another one as well.
  3. Jim, I sent you a PM about your '86 on the 27th. Did you receive it?
  4. People of Comanche Club!... Today I am delighted to spread the word of one of the real staples of this community. Think back about how long you've been around here as a member? Few years?... Maybe more?... Do you remember the old CC forums?... the yahoo group? This month is all for a guy that's always there and always has an answer or suggestion. Tell Us Your Best MJ Story ● I bought it used from the second or third owner in 1999 and finally got it on the road in 2001. I had been wheeling my original '88 XJ, but that was my daily driver and I didn't want to wreck it. I wheeled the MJ with NAXJA NAC for three or four seasons on the Trailmaster lift, then put the truck back to stock height after we lost most of the places where we could wheel legally. The kid from whom I bought it had butchered a lot, and it has been a slow process of trying to incrementally undo the damage he did. Original cost was $500, I've put about $4000 into it, and it still looks like a $500 truck. ●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●● Eagle, thank you so much for being a part of Comanche Club. I disagree with your "$500 truck" comment though and it's not because I'm from the rust belt. I think it has so much character that it's just about dripping from it! It's nice to finally see the truck behind the man. Congratulations, Eagle. Well worth the recognition. -Ben This post has been promoted to an article
  5. In the build thread the guy said that he got it with an extra engine. :dunno:
  6. Here we go again! Got a day trip planned for the 12th down to Appleton.
  7. Real nice, Bo.
  8. No... they only get people in trouble. :shake:
  9. Eek... facebook strikes again in the form of dead picture links. :fs2: I'm still picking at this thing from time to time. Got the bug to do something with it this weekend in the form of a front bumper.
  10. Made a few more helping hands this weekend while working on my dune buggy. The tube bender wasn't cooperating... mostly a gravity issue. The fix... And then this little guy came in hand when copying angles...
  11. Poor thing. :(
  12. You know you're the first one I'm calling when I'm in the neighborhood. . :MJ 1: .
  13.
  14. That's funny... I need a good wheeling trip again too. :D
  15. Ah... but Chipotle originated in Denver. Pretty sure a good burrito trumps a taco any day.
  16. Sure hope you have a genuine CO Comanche available for purchase when I get out there, Jim!... crooked fog lights or not... I'm not too picky on that. :D Getting back to the idea of finding a fun job out there, I came to the conclusion that it might be fun join a local 4x4 forum. Sure hope it doesn't interfere with spending a proper amount to time here. :shake:
  17. Funny thing is that this is one of the biggest problems I have with where we are now is actually a lack of people... well, people in my age demographic. I'm in a retirement community. Some (Rob) might argue that this is the perfect place for me what with my lack of interest in most modern things. It was just a couple weeks ago that I finally gave in and got myself a smart phone! Don't get me wrong, I like hangin' with the older crowd... for the most part. But when it comes to really spending time with others and trying to make friends, this place has sure been lonely. Out in CO? Sure... I know that there is probably an older crowd as well. Tell you one thing though, I can think of at least one stand-up type of elderly gentleman that I'd like to make myself closer friends with! :D
  18. Getting back to thinking about things. Wifey has nine months of school left and then... :dunno:
  19. Fixed again. Ready for more.
  20. Few more pictures... ... ugh... text over pictures. :shake:
  21. I hear big tires are good for that! :laughin:
  22. Off topic but... holy crap! Been a while since we've seen you around, MrSimon! :waving:
  23. Looks awfully comfy. Another nice one, Jay! Way to go!
  24. Absolutely! The group I was with is planning on Dresser in early October. Maybe looking into another event around Backus in late September? I might even be going down to Appleton this coming weekend. Just can't get enough lately, I guess. :D
