Nice.

Wow! Following.

It’s pretty basic as far as fuel injection goes... which I love. Base timing is 8* btdc and then the computer takes over. No additional info from the computer.

It does. Kevin at Performance Injection burns his chips based on old GM stuff. You can still put a paper clip in the ALDL port for codes. All I’ve gotten is “random misfire”.

I can again but I must’ve gone over it at least a dozen times. What tells me the firing order is good is how well it idles and accelerates. For the most part, it runs great! If you rev it, it’ll stop for a bit. Then the pops will sneak up again.

My uncle has a 1974 Ford F100 with a 360 FE in it. I recently did a fuel injection swap on it using a similar kit I used on my CJ. It came from Performance Fuel Injection out of Michigan. It’s basically Howell components and an HEI distributor. Basic easy setup. It’s mostly done but I’ve got a backfire I’m trying to figure out. Runs great!... annoying backfire through the tailpipe though. 48BCA782-39A3-4D43-ADBF-3D62B09FE3F0.MOV Thoughts?

There’s a bunch of scary looking driveways around my town!... kind of a mountain thing. Some even have switchbacks! As stated already, plowing and keeping things clear is key. Some people even have heated driveways!

Technically not a driveway yet, but it’ll be going up this hill. My new shop is quite a bit lower than my house. You can just about see the elevation change from the retaining wall going up the hill. I guess I'm due for a new build thread so I guess I’ll start one soon on my new “home”.

It was me that was in contact with the Archers a few years ago and it’s true that they still had a few incomplete sets of skirts on the shelves at that time. I bought as close to a full set that I could, a fiberglass hood, a full race suspension, and their last original front valance. After a couple years of keeping in contact with them and hearing the same “haven’t found it yet” I gave up and sold my skirts to someone doing a restoration on their Street Comanche. The Archer valances were all made from fiberglass. Bobby Archer was the one in the shop that made them from their mold. It was damaged long ago, however. Mine is pretty thin but theirs weren’t meant to last more than one race.

Nothing has changed on this little rig. Guy at work bought himself a “1970” but it’s pretty cut up. Had to drive in today just to park them next to each other. ... bookends. -

1986 97+ trans crossmember mounts.

Depending on when you’re ‘86 was built, there are a few goofy early ‘86 anomalies that you might run into. The firewall might be a slightly different shape that won’t allow enough clearance for the 4.0. The frame rail under the firewall might not have the hole on the outside to get to the upper control arm hardware making you take the bolts out from underneath... which can be a pain depending on if the drivetrain is in or not. Then there’s the crossmember where it bolts to the frame. Yours might not be in the right spot. Easy enough to drill holes where they need to be and weld a nut in or use riv-nuts or nutserts (or whatever the world is calling them these days). Good luck!- 7 replies

Nice to see this back at the top.

Wow. I’m very impressed with this build! So much of it is so close to what I had in mind with one of my past projects that I sold off. VERY NICE!!

Did you sell the 3800?

The body line didn’t look near as bad as that, but I recall my old ‘88 I got years ago in a mad scramble to figure out a cheap winter beater. There was TONS of rust all covered up with bondo! I had it and then I sold it to Austin (xjrev10). He was filling it with gas, the tank got filled enough that the weight ripped the straps out of the frame, so it got a ratchet strap all the way around the bed! I think he then drove it home to empty the tank followed by driving it across the scales. I’m sure it’s pots and pans by now.
