A long, long time ago when I did mine I remember cutting off whatever it took to get to the hardware. For reassembly, I used allen head hardware since the head is smaller but kept the same thread.

I agree! With the over weight bumper on the front and the spare on the back, the overall length is less than desirable. With the roll bar up there, I think it just kinda adds something more in the middle to distract the eye from all those long, sexy stripes. Another thing cool is all those lights!!! ... or not. :roll: Obviously, the cheaper (yeah cheaper than the ones already up there) and more rusty ones than the ones I already have are going to hit the bricks. As for the visor, I already got a PM on it. The poor Chief that the parts came from sat outside for its whole life. That visor was voter, counsel member, and mayor of fiberglass cracks-ville. I figured I would let it return to the earth with the rest of the truck.

Slightly productive day. I managed to replace the leaking o-ring on the injector today. I had an extra fuel rail sitting on my shelf that I grab parts from. Got the o-ring replaced and put back together… first injector leaks. Okay. Pull it all apart again and replace that o-ring. Seems as though I didn’t put on enough petroleum jelly on the bottom of the ring and the cup on the fuel rail torn that o-ring. Put it put back together and?… the second injector starts leaking. Take it apart again to replace that one and put it back together and it still leaks! Do it all one more time with plenty of jelly on everything and it all just pops together. No whammies… no whammies… NO LEAKS! I was ecstatic to say the least. That’s a happy truck!

Very good day in the truck! Lots of power zipping around town. No wobble at all. Slight clunk in the front end after a day of driving... need to go through and torque everything again. So, what does one do on a shake down run on their new MJ? Go get other MJ parts, of course! First scratches! First mess! Slight issue, though. That's what I get for letting an engine sit for so long... leaking o-ring on an injector: Sign of things to come (addition of the roll bar): I've been picking at this truck for a while now and I think I've gotten some pretty good parts out of it: Hacked up factory brush guard: The buckets came from another deal… but it’s too bad that Jeep never made a crew cab from the factory: The Chief also had power locks and windows. Grabbed the wiring and switches: Anyhow… I figure it was a good day. I’m kicking around the idea of selling some of it especially the Dana 44 and driveshaft all because I’m moving soon and it’s heavy. The other stuff can sit on shelves easy. Hmm… I dunno.

As far as I know, I'm the closest. There is another that is just south of where you'll be, but he hasn't been on here in a while... I think he jumped ship. Currently I'm in the St. Cloud area but am moving to Alexandria before you get here.

Even if you made it easy on yourself and went with the light bar you showed, you could add the guards around at anytime. What I did was use thin wall aluminum tubing that fit in an electrical conduit bender. I figured out how much radius I wanted and just sorta kept bending and cutting tubing until I thought there was enough there. Steel would work just the same... cheaper too.

Thanks dude! The light bar consists of hacked up XJ Yakima roof rack mounts and a custom rack in the middle. I do have an issue with the mounts though. Problem is, with the height of the whole assembly, it can shift around back and forth... around town, I don't think it would be an issue, but at highway speeds I think it might loosen up. I am currently working on getting a factory roll bar for the truck. The plan is to get rid of the old roof rack mounts and mount the light rack on the roll bar pretty much just keeping the hoop and light guards.

I play mostly my bass. Anything with strings I can either play or fake pretty good. I especially enjoy my baritone ukulele. Played in a couple bands over the years all over the state until the last one kicked me out of their club for not being a team player... apparently not wanting to play a show because I need to work the next day at 4:00 a few times was too much for them. Anyhow, I left and the band broke up two months later. From what I heard, everyone was asking where the dude in the kilt went. ... wish I still had time for that kid stuff.

Agreed. State to state may have different laws on how many lights you can have on a vehicle. Also, you should check on laws saying anything about how many lights can be above and below the hood. In MN, you can have no more than four forward lights on. However, you can have as many lights as you want above the windshield as long as they aren't on when you're on any pubic roads. Just this last week, I was with a friend in this Mustang and we were pulled over for the amount of lights on the front. Cop didn't say anything about the exhaust too loud, no plate on the front, windows too dark, or the fact that he was driving too fast. Local cops love to pull drivers over for anything as long as it isn't obvious. That said, I've ran into issues with breaking lights whether they were on the front or on the roof so I wouldn't run anything that costs too much. The lights on my truck are all single packaged tractor lights from Fleet Farm. All metal housing, crazy bright, crazier bright when bunched together, and at $11 each they are easily replaced if you break just one.

As of now, our closing is set for September 2nd. Figure we should probably find a new house next, right? Did that! We shot the sellers an offer just to be returned with the information that they had already taken an offer... about a month ago. Oh... what a drag... dude... There still was a chance, though! The house was on the market for a while now and it was apparent that the sellers just wanted out so they accepted a mega low-ball offer putting the house on a short sale list. Now things were complicated as the offer was given to the bank and it was up to them to take or reject the low offer. In we come, guns blazing and a hail of furry, willing to drop full asking price if it meant getting it off the short sale list and us moving in. Granted, the house was already a great deal for what it is, so full price wasn't an issue. Wait a couple days... wait a couple more days... got the call yesterday while out racing (legally) with my brother. Got the house!

Very cool dude fo' sho'! Definitely a tip of the cap to you, your fleet, and your ability to keep this crazy place running and moving forward. From jumping in to keep the peace, to allowing a strange out of state member sleep on his futon... I bet this guy would do just about anything for any CC member. Side story: A couple years ago I went out and bought "High Performance Jeep Cherokee XJ Builder's Guide". I was flipping through it very eager like as with any other Jeep book, and I saw Pete's truck. I was all, "OH MY GOD! I KNOW THAT TRUCK FROM THAT CRAZY SITE THAT I'M ON!!!". Little did I know that I would one day see the truck in person... let alone drive it around the block! If life is all about the experiences, then this guy has opened the door for so many here.
