Damn Ben, I posted in that thread and don't even remember doing it. Yeah... I saw that too and had a quick giggle to myself when I saw this:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=34559&hilit ... still as cool as it was in February though!

I have to be honest... if my '88 wasn't an Eliminator it would've gotten a full blue interior swapped in. That and those silly looking skinny steel wheels and beauty rings. I love the "old man pants" blue! There's just something so dated about it! The red (not maroon) is a close second followed by black. No vinyl seats for this guy either. It's all about the checkers! ... Maybe the Eliminator will get a black treatment someday. Maybe...

Cut down a couple trees today and used the '91 to move the brush and wood.

Tried to find the build page for it... was this deleted? :hmm: -
Mine loves simple things. Birthdays... anniversary... Christmas... I'm the king of planning simple things that seem like such a huge ordeal that have a ton of thought put behind them and turning nothing into a huge adventure. For example, my wife's birthday is January 6th and this is our first year living at our new part of the state. This year, she had to work so I dropped her off and when came back I had three options laid out. 1. Hit up a local hockey game and kick it in the avid fan section. (We aren't sports people by any means so from time to time we enjoy going to some sort of game and hoot and holler along side the craziest person we can find and almost turn it into a cheering competition.) 2. Go to a local play house. I found one that was featuring a local cast of West Side Story. (I was actually hoping that she would've picked this option. For the most part, I hate musicals... however, I'm a sucker for West Side Story and The Sound of Music.) 3. Hang out at Caribou Coffee with some board games for the evening. I had several options that I had along when I picked her up so if she were to choose the Caribou option then I'd be prepared. In any case, she chose option number three and we sat until they kicked us out just sipping on some coffee, rolling dice, and almost making a scene when she kept winning at Yahtzee... I'm talking like seven times in a row! Beating me bad too!! Anyhow, with setting up an evening of options there always has to be that unexpected gift at the unexpected time. In her case, we had been at Caribou for a couple hours and she was having a nice time with a quiet evening and out came a framed puzzle. A puzzle? Yup... years ago she was all about big cities to the point that she was almost ready to pick up and move to New York. She found little things to pacify her wanting to move like fancy nick-nacks to remind her of past vacations. One of such was a puzzle of the New York skyline that she almost had put together when her cat decided to use it as scratching post. The puzzle was ruined and that was that. Well, years later, I found the same puzzle, took the time to put it together, frame it (made the frame and had a piece of glass cut), and hide it in the basement. She lit up! Something so simple yet a throwback from years ago that I still remembered her getting all worked up that her cat destroyed the first one... hey, it was a hard puzzle! The moral of the story is don't be afraid to be cheap. Look at your city's website for local events and plan from there. Be ready to have a backup in case you pick something and it sucks... but try and make it look like you're just winging it. Pair that up with a thoughtful gift at an unexpected moment and call it a night. If all else fails, you can always resort to the traditional wedding anniversary gifts for each year. Sixth is iron or sugar. Typically, I'll work something around the traditional gift each year and put a fun spin to it. Bare minimum would be taking the first half of Jim's advise. Maybe take out the old scrap book, put some slow jams on the ipod, and just stay home.I'm not too far behind that the wife and I just celebrated our 5th year a month ago. Good luck and congratulations!

I've got some major work to do on the house over the next coming weeks so I decided to start cleaning the garage in preparation. In doing so, it finally came time to throw some parts at this truck that have been sitting around for a little while. On the list? Fuel regulator and A/C bypass pulley and bracket. I also went around and tightened the valve cover hardware. Took some engine degreaser to the as much of the engine that I could and gave it a good spray with the hose. In doing such, my under hood light decided to start working! It's the little things count. As far as the house, one of the big steps will be knocking down half of my garage to go bigger. That means that everything from two stalls need to be moved into one. Needless to say... I've got a lot of stuff. Some parts went down to the basement while most got stacked up in the other stall. And then some parts didn't fit in either place. Not sure it the roll bar will stay in this truck but I think that it really jazzes it up some!

If you want those exact stripes just wait a few more years. My truck is bound to deteriorate enough to just shake the rust flakes off the back of them! :rotfl2:

... or into the fall if others want to move the weekend but not that far out.

I'm with the crowd to change the date because I'm out... and I don't want to talk about it. Maybe in the spring? :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

I guess from my experiences, why would you want a black shirt to wear outside in the sun at a car show? :hmm: Personally, I'd go yellow with blue text to match the truck.

Truck looks nice! You're putting a 10 slot in the XJ... right?

Off the top of my head, Neohic is a huge VW guy, he's got a beetle, dunebuggy, and various hands in the pot including some engine swaps... Yeah... that German stuff is kinda cool too. I used to rock a '98 Jetta... ... which I totally miss driving, a '00 Jetta which made friends with a deer... ...my first complete car was a '76 Beetle, I currently have a '72... ... a (mostly) '74 dune buggy... http://forums.vwvortex.com/newreply.php ... p=68560441 ... I've dabbled with anything from Things to Transporters of all kinds, to a VR6 swap on my brother's '87 Cabby... http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.p ... -Cabriolet ... which I also miss having around. Yup. You're right at home here.

... just because everyone loves a dancing banana. Ben' date=' I thought I was bad... I think you have just eclipsed me. By a longshot. Plus, if you want me to come up in August, you will have to pre-plan my back country roads all the way up to you if I'm not supposed to go that fast. [/quote'] I'm both touched and honored! To keep the look as is, would changing the gear ratio be out of the question?

I'm with Don on this one. Leave it alone or lower it a touch. Your truck just has this character to it that I think you'd loose if it were lifted. As much as I hate to say it, there's just something "cookie cutter" about an MJ with a few inches of lift and 31s. This one is special! It needs the trim put back on and something done with that side dump exhaust... but it's special! As soon as you start messing around with the appearance of it, then it starts to slip into looking like so many MJs and XJs out on the road and it takes away another part of the uniqueness of the whole package. As far as highway speeds and rpms, maybe this little truck is trying to tell you something? ... and then I'd be all, "Oh... thanks, Farmer! You know, one day you'll be a cool truck just like me! And then we can park side by side and see just how the same we are and at the same time embrace all of our differences!". See? I told you that you should just leave me as I am!... but I'll let you come that conclusion by yourself. Better yet, I'll let you make the right decision. Then other trucks would chime in and give you their opinions... OH! Better yet! What if it was like A Christmas Carol type of deal?! You'd have all you MJs of Christmas past telling you their thoughts on it... and then your MJs of Christmas present would chime in... and last would be your MJs of Christmas future! This may be getting out of hand... Your diesel would also give a... ... just because everyone loves a dancing banana.

The only other wheel I'd consider putting on an Eliminator like that would be the five hole Gambler style. A little wider, but they keep the same style and feel.

Speaking of which, you never updated any of your builds. How I feel MJs *should* have come from the factory Getting the paint on before the paint goes bad... 'sup with that? Sorry, Jim. :hijack:

Be that as it may, it's in my best interest not to have an ebay account. Saves me from myself on tons of stuff.

... must... not... sign... into... ebay... under... wife's... username!!!

Awesome, awesome http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... %20awesome ... yup... I want one. Never noticed this before, but why are the firewalls black and not color matched to the bodies on both trucks? The a diesel thing?
