  1. Wow! Really good looking truck. REALLY good looking truck.
  2. Good practice if not anything else. Start tearing into it... what's the worse that can happen? If it's already rusted to the point of not being structurally sound, you can replace the steel. If you start replacing and it doesn't turn out like it should then at least you tired. Just be sure that the welds you put into it are sound and safe for use on the road. I'd say use it as a learning tool.
  3. Bumpity, bump, bump.
  4. Sawzall everything that looks like it won't make it perform better offroad. Rinse and repeat as necessary. Done.
  5. What a trip this month has been, eh? First the site change over... then no COTM... then all this happens just to fill the void. Thanks to everyone again for the kind words!
  6. It's not red?
  7. http://comancheclub.com/topic/14128-my-6-year-build-so-far/ Some information here... pictures too.
  8. I like pulling door seal parts from two door XJs and trimming them down to fit. Then I can really cram a bunch in there nice and tight!

    Gentleman?

Jeep guy south of Pueblo... it that an official title? Has a nice ring to it.
  10. After I finish up the house, the plan is to try and make a workable space for myself again. Even if it runs into winter, I'd like to insulate a garage stall and finish the inside just to brighten it up a bit. I've had a few members asking about bumpers and I unfortunately have to keep pushing them back. Hopefully have some time to explore some other MJ related products as well. Otherwise, I've been promising myself that I'd get back to the dune buggy.
  11. Yeah... I need OEM or nothing.
  12. Poor way to talk about a piece of education! Just think of all the good stuff you learned from the old Commander... geez... some respect. :shake: Whatever happened to the old girl anyhow?
  13. More so because I'm curious about them than anything else... anyone have the factory rear window louver panel that they can part with?
  14. One of the original thoughts was to add a 12v battery so I could run a few electronics. The more I thought about it, I thought that it took away from some of the simplistic charm of the whole idea. Besides, the less stuff there is, the less stuff to go wrong. As far as pictures... uh... sorta packed away right now. I need to really air it out before winter and I'll try to snap some when that time comes.

    Lost, No Title

Yeah, not so sure Jim needs any rust making disease among his flock... but I'd offer the same deal next time I'm in the neighborhood. :D
  16. This is the O'Reilly in my home town. I try to go to the Napa right across the street when they're open but even then I have my small list of employees who I can trust. My Napa is the type of parts store that I can walk in with a problem and I can bounce ideas off them. Say if I need a bushing with X" inside and X" outside and X" in length... let'sget out the "big book of bushings" and find one! That's how they roll and I like that.
  17. ^ That's the ultimate goal. Eventually, we'd like to tile the shower and do away with all the moisture-sucking drywall. I think for now it'll work. Yours is beautiful! Diggin' the color choice! Onto another note, my concrete guy is stopping over today to set up the rebar. Hopefully pouring tomorrow!
  18. ^ This. Don't cheap out!
  19. Yeah... this is still going on. Hopefully getting some fancy new concrete this week. This weekend was spent swapping out windows along the backside of the house. The three windows in the bedrooms were extended down lower to meet egress. Not a huge deal. I went with the same rough opening width and just cut the frame lower. The bathroom was another matter. Why is it that carpenters in the '60s loved to do stupid stuff like put a window in a shower? Yup... IN the shower. To keep it dry, the previous owners had a short shower curtain to cover the wood frame and trim. This was nothing less than an annoyance everyday. Air warms up... gets behind the curtain... starts to rise up and out... sticks to your arm... ALL THE FREAKIN" TIME!!! Ugh... anyhow, my solution was to get a little creative with some pvc 1x6, some glass blocks, and some pvc trim.
  20. In case anyone needs to swing one way or another... September is half over. How about half a truck?

  22. Is it possible for one person to be COTM twice? Won't that tear open some kind of time/space continuum type of thingy?
  23. ... Maybe we should ask the guy who makes the calendars what he thinks...
