This just might turn into another mustache/facial hair appreciation thread! :laughin:

It's almost time to take the '91 off the road and pass the point of no return. I'm expecting to break every single bolt taking that truck apart so once it starts getting swapped over, there's no going back! As for the new chassis, it got a little more stripped down. The interior it totally out, along with a few more underhood items. The manifolds came off due to the crack in the exhaust manifold big enough to... how was it Austin?... "big enough for midgets to walk through". While I was in there, I started looking at what I'm going to do for fuel lines as I know the ones on the '91 are not going to swap over nicely. Fortunately, Austin left the lines for the 2.5 that was in there and the quick connects at the firewall. Cool! I'll just leave that alone and splice into the rubber lines that connect to them. On to the interior, I knew that the floors needed some attention. I was happily surprised that they're still mostly solid! I only need to change out the common spot under the pedals. Here' an interesting spot on the trans tunnel too. You been hauling around chubbies in the past, Austin? :laughin: Well, the box came off too to take a closer look at everything and I was again happily surprised at how solid the frame is. I've got a couple mouse nests to clean out, but the only real rust is on the axle and springs. Let's compare: Hmm... I still have some work to do. I kinda wish I could just do some magic Freaky Friday type of change-o switch-o. :thwak:

Strange color for a Chief. I totally dig it.

Wife Wanted A Headboard... Six Years Ago
neohic replied to neohic's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Yeah... it works okay. Every once in a while I have to tell myself to keep the hammer strikes to one side when I notice it starting to lean. Threw some paint at it last night... update! -
Why did I actually laugh out loud at that?

Wife Wanted A Headboard... Six Years Ago
neohic replied to neohic's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
Another day on this. I added more to the scrolly, leafy things and added some formed channels to put the wood into. Other such headboard stuff as well... Going to be some oak 1x2s stained the same color as the rest of the trim in the room. -
Cool project! I love the lines of these Falcons and Rancheros. Any long term plans for it?
-
With a smaller tube diameter, I think it'd look neat with a double tube setup. :dunno:
-
... so I figured it'd be a good time to start. I started with 2" and 1.5" round tubing and 5/16" and 1/4" round bar. It's for a kind size bed so that means I've got a ton of real estate to work with. Did some notching... some cutting... fitting... welding... you know, headboard stuff. Obligatory close up of a weld: Planning on some wood work between the two lower tubes. Not sure how I plan on finishing it yet... probably something awesome though.

Comanche Of The Month - June 2013
neohic replied to Automan2164's topic in Comanche of the Month (MJOTM)
I love the almost cartoonish stance about this truck. Almost like one big RC! The antenna just adds to the look. Great truck! Totally deserving of MJOTM! -
All yours if you want it, Jim. The wife put a veto on the thought of turning it into a permanent outdoor grill.

Cut Out Fender Flares Longbed

From page seven of THIS THREAD: -
No idea. Hopefully turning it into a bi-yearly type of deal with her relatives out there. Why? You want it?... and risk introducing the rusty plague into your clean environment?! Granted it does look pretty clean, but I would wager that it's still a carrier of the disease.

These Accident Recreation Guys Really Hate Jeeps...

... and Dodge mini vans. -
I had it bookmarked just for these couple pictures showing the difference in firewalls: ... If you look on the right side of the area above the transmission tunnel, there is a "step" at the top of the newer one that allows the 4.0 to clear it, whereas on the older engine its not there... ... he did a great job of showing how to dissect a front crossmember in the "Damien" thread too.
-
I'm sure you meant to put that in your other thread on the matter, but while it's bumped to the top... anything new on this truck?
-
I was only thinking about it so I could say that I have four and two half trucks. :D

Couple of good 4.0 swaps from Drahcir: http://comancheclub.com/topic/28613-project-drahcir49%E2%80%9Dtwo%E2%80%9D/ http://comancheclub.com/topic/29853-project-damien/ ... wonder if he ever finished them?

It was the wife and I's 6th anniversary over this past weekend so we decided that it would be a great time to get away and just spend some time together. It was great! We made a little drive to the opposite corner of the state from us... Duluth. Of course, if we were going to Duluth, we just had to stop by and see what was happening at the Archer facility. Let me tell you... some stuff happened. I sat down and had a nice chat with someone that was very connected in the Jeep scene during the reign of Comanches in the SCCA. Got some interesting new information about the trucks and heard some amazing stories. Who was this man? Only the guy who shifted through the gears in the #33 truck... Mr. Tommy Archer! Couldn't leave the building without a souvenir either. Problem was that we stopped there on the first day of our trip. Rather than carting stuff around with us, I had to make an awkward trip up to the hotel room. Not that I'm complaining, really. I had no problem waking up to this each morning. Yup... in all its lightweight, fiberglass goodness! Granted, they only ran the fiberglass hoods in one race before they were caught and had to remove them but I think it'll make a great addition to the truck!

First!!!... Welding Equipment And Such
neohic replied to neohic's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
At the rate I go through them? Nope. -
How many threads do you have in those spacers?
-
Solution: tow bars... lots of tow bars... like a train.
-
I would assume that you've already started the adoption process and are interviewing potential care takers? :rotf:
-
it will be, mr smarty pants. :D still working out how I want to begin such a mass migration of threads. How did it all go down when the "Popular Threads" section was put together?
