  1. Just fought this on mine this past weekend. For me it was some oxidation on the fuse and where it plugs in. Used a bit of fine sandpaper to remove that and all is well again.
  2. I put red LEDs in my 88 for night time non-blinding, if ALL dash lights (and the one on the 4wd selector and the two tiny ones in the HVAC controls) are replaced the dimmer will not work, but if you leave one incandescent in there somewhere the dimmer will work, at least that's what I found on mine.
  3. How about the gas cap or filler neck sucking air?
  4. First thing I'd do is get it in your name unless you're willing to do all this work for nothing on your friends truck.
  5. Just a note: If you do order one of these make sure and get "The Cure for Jeeps" and not just "The Cure" unless you have upgraded to GM 1 ton components. Both are listed under Jeep parts on their site. NC Tom, I'll measure the right one when it comes and post up here or you can roll down the hill and have a look in person.
  6. Are these 74's or 37's, or a mix? And how many of each for instrument panel/heater control? Edit: Nevermind, figured out they're the same. Found a 10 pack on Amazon for 6.99 with free shipping.
  7. Looks like factory bucket seats, wish I was closer.
  8. How do those headlights work at actually projecting light? Seems to me they wouldn't do well. They look cool either way!
  9. I might show up a bit late if I get mine back from the shop tomorrow. How long are you guys going to be there??
  10. Please update with solution as I have this same problem, not necessarily after stall, but if truck is warm and restart. Only happens occasionally on mine, not predictable at all.
  11. Correct, PO welded tow hitch to original Comanche bumper mounts as well as to frame under bed so removing bumper mounts was out of question as I didn't want to lose tow hitch.
  12. I got the Fey for mine and also used the factory mounts, took a bit of persuasion to get to fit but worked out fine. Sure looks better than the rusted shell that I had.
  13. Well, I went over to the parents at 2am after reading Richasco's post, but that wasn't it. I think an easy way to test this without going through pulling the shifter would be to see if reverse lights come on with shifter in R, just to help folks in the future. I did it at 2am because I had a trailer sitting at my father in law's house waiting to pull it the next day and wanted to be sure before going through all that. Thanks for the help though, it was worth a shot.
  14. Sounds like I'm hoping for transfer case linkage (sounds cheapest). It happened at as a good a place as it could... I had just dropped off first of two deliveries and only had to go 1 block to second delivery and another two blocks to parents driveway so it won't get towed and I could get out of neighborhood of second delivery without having to back up. Then my wife brought me my car, I had to quit delivering but made it back to the store to get clocked out and made it home (straight shot up main road that had been scraped). Impulse, I may have shifted to second as it happened and have already gotten it out of 4 into 2. I'll have to go to the folks and see about the feel of the shifter, but it very well may have been just the shifter moving around and gears not engaging (that's what I suppose since I drove it with the stick in neutral). I'll check the transfer case linkage tomorrow, I've already put in for a day off at the full time so I can try to figure out what's going on and already had tomorrow night requested off from the part time pizza gig so I'll have all day to mess with it. Eagle, I'd be kinda nervous getting in to the transmission, is what you're describing fairly easy or pretty complicated (realigning the shift forks)? Why do you have 2 stuck if it's not too hard?? Not trying to be smart but trying to figure if that's beyond my wrenching skills. Would this be a good time to try to find a donor to grab a tranny and transfer case (the one with part time 4wd)? I've been thinking how nice that part time 4wd would be for a while now. Thanks for the help guys! Aaron
  15. So I'm stuck in gear, not sure if 2, 3 or 4, but was driving in 1st when happened. I was leaving a driveway in 4wd (snow and slush) got out of driveway fine and got out of subdivision on to main road where I tried to shift out of 4hi while in 1st before cutting wheels to turn. Bam truck lurched and died. Cranked with clutch in, put shifter in to 1, let out clutch and died. Burned lots of cluth to limp to my parents driveway and am now stuck. Any help appreciated. 1988 manual trans (pugeot) 4x4
  16. Is there any possibility of a 242 with the Peugeot ba10 or should I be waiting for it to die and then do all at once replacing w ax15?
  17. Good save but your grill is upside down. Use the search feature, there's a good write-up on here about the sending units somewhere.
  18. http://hickory.craigslist.org/cto/4266567667.html just saw on Craigslist and thought of all the cussing I'd get from the wife for bringing another truck home so posting on here.
  19. So the kit came with 4 bolts. Last night I got the driver side done in about 1 minute after hooking the come-along up, but the drivers side. I spent a while pushing and pulling and cussing and pondering and then remembered the kit came with 4 bolts. I compared the two I had left over and sure enough, one had a small head and the other had a large head. After I figured out I had used the wrong bolt the fix was relatively easy. Thanks for the help guys!
  20. I did use the new bolt that came with the kit. I didn't even think to check if it fit. Hindsight's always 20/20. I did all this yesterday when it was much warmer and I didn't have to be at work in an hour. I'll have to try the come-along, trick will be what to tie off to. Is this bolt head in the hole all that holds it all in line?
  21. So I put on a Chevy drop shackle and add a leaf and am having trouble getting the top/head of the leaf pack bolt seated back in the little hole on the bottom of the axle. Am I okay to just lower and drive around the block and hope it reseats itself then finish tightening the u-bolts the rest of the way? Thanks in advance!
  22. What parts do you need? I have half a parts truck that was a column shift, have the cluster listed in the classifieds here.
  23. Is the "headlight switch relay" the headlight switch , the headlight dimmer switch or something else I can't find? My clock works when the headlights are off, no dash lights, had to jerry rig the radio to work (jumped off another fuse). Is the headlight dimmer switch just the back half of the headlight switch, and if so why is it more expensive than the whole thing? Thanks, Aaron
  24. Where can one find one of these delays? Part number, proper name? I'm searching and can't find them. Thanks, Aaron
  25. I'm in the same boat with the wife's nephew, can't really write him off. Thought I'd learned long ago never to loan money to friends or family, got a bit more comfortable with it in here lately because of good experiences with other family members that he was aware of, and haven't seen any of the money since Feb. We had a contract drawn up and everything with the car he was borrowing the money for as collateral, but 1 day after he got the car, before he had any insurance or tags on it, he slid it sideways off a wet road and smashed it into a tree at about 60 MPH and totalled it. So much for the collateral, and the money it seems... Just take it as a lesson learned and NEVER loan friends or family money unless you are totally prepared for that loan to turn into a gift.
