Thanks Eagle, but over on this coast, for a 20 or 30 year old vehicle rust is never an issue. I'll be looking at getting as late a model as I can find. Something with a real nice interior. I'll run the 360 for awhile but later down the road I have diesel plans for her. :evil:

I went out today with my buddy Eric in his 89 2 dr XJ. We headed up the hill to go sleding with the women. We had a blast since neither of us had to go to work today.

i used a cutoff wheel on an angle grinder when i did mine. seems like the dremel wouldnt have the balls to do it.

Ok these are pics my girl took when we went for a drive so she could do some shooting. (She is a photographer) I didnt know where to put them. Keep in mind this is most snow I've ever seen here, so thats why I think its cool. I have a lot more too, she loves to take pictures.

I'm looking into getting a FSJ. What I really want is a Grand Wagoneer, a later model in real good condition. This would be my primary vehicle, (keep in mind I drive a company truck to and from work). I'll use it to haul people and do some occasional towing. I'll be modifying it of course, but hopefully I'll be able to keep this one more mild. Anyone have any input? Any FSJ guys out there?

I don't see what the big deal is, s-10 tailgates are the perfect platform for a gooseneck hitch.

Where do you think they got the axles from? I have a 44 front from the junkyard, I'm also building a rear 44 I got from the junkyard for $60. I'd say almost everyone here uses parts from the junkyard when available. These prices are based on what my yard charges me. HP 30 with 4.10's - $100 8.8 (disc brake) 4.10's and LSD -$100 AX-15 - $200 NP231 - $100 Front and Rear Shafts - $100 M.O.R.E. 8.8 kit and e-brake kit - $325 Have someone do the welding on the 8.8 for you and the rest of the parts are all direct swaps. (more or less on the ax-15) Throw in a few dollars here and there to replace any worn parts. So for less than $1500 you could build a badass Jeep from the junkyard.

for 5-grand you could buy a very badass comanche. you could convert your to 4x4 using junk yard parts for about $500. then find someone to do your gears.

If you can find a baseball bat, I can tell you how to get rid of that screen so it will never come back!

i'd adjust your linkage first. if it pops out, i bet thats the problem. IMO the best way to adjust it is to loosen the adjustment bolt on the shift rod and manually shift the case into 4Lo then tighten the bolt back up. presto, your done!

I don't think it will work. I believe early explorers have quite a large fender opening up front. measure in plenty of places first. it will be hard to tell since the explorer has a round opening and the jeep a more square. but like a said i don't think it will work.

That shackle is worse than the holocaust. I bet they didnt even take the stock shackle off to make that awesome piece of ghettofab.
