  1. Hey all, I picked up a 2nd truck the other day and this one is a manual. In fact it is the first manual I have ever owned, though I do know how to drive stick. Well I got all the signals working and got a temp tag for it so it is street legal and I have been trying to drive it some to find the kinks. My issue is that when driving it if I am not giving it gas it will die, it does matter if I am coasting around a corner or at a stop light or the like it just dies and then it doesn't want to start for about a minute. :hmm: It has a really long crank time too so I am surprised it hasn't killed the battery with the multiple cranks I am having to do for a short trip around the block. The truck idles pretty good but due to the huge hole in the muffler it is really loud making it a bit tough to listen for much while it is running. So my question is: has anyone else had the issue where it dies if not given constant gas, and if so what causes it? The truck is an 89 4.0L manual(4+O) not sure which tranny though. Thanks in advance for your help!
  2. Took BB down the road after getting the hazards and blinkers to work properly (had to use fused jumpers) and the truck died on me in the middle of the street. I was literally blocking both lanes because I was attempting a u-turn when it died. Couldn't get it to start back. Had to push it out of the road and walk home. Got in Clair-e and drove to get some gas in the can, figured my assuming that the seemingly functional fuel gauge was accurate was in error. I was right, threw a couple of gallons of that good old unleaded in and drove it right home! Also finally got my little cousin into the project. This truck is intended to be his when he can drive, he's 13 currently. He helped me get the remains of a decal off the rear glass and was present for the whole running out of gas debacle. all in all a good day: all lights work and it made it back to the driveway tomorrow it gets a good cleaning!
  3. Damn, well it was worth checking. Looks like I have holes in the doors for nothing!
  4. Forgot to mention: 89 4x2 manual, which trans has yet to be determined, though it does have od.
  5. Managed to remove all the mossy oak stuff off the windshield and back glass
  6. I think bb my have an exhaust leak :rotf:
  7. Let me introduce you all to my second MJ which I am calling bumblebee; for obvious reasons I got it in a trade in which I gave up a Toyota Cressida, which I acquired from my mom after my stepdad and I built her an xj to drive. I paid $600 for the xj up front so that is what I considered to have had into the Cressida and therefore into this truck. As you can see the truck has some issues, but if it didn’t then it wouldn’t be any fun now would it?? Known issues: PO’s bad rendition of a paint job (though I'm digging the color scheme) Jacked doors Jacked fenders Jacked header panel Mossy oak all over the place (even the floor-mats) LOUDNESS Very hard to shift into first Bumper is pretty rough Several circuits have no power (I was afraid of that) Stupid PO’s inability to remove anything before rattle can paint job E-Brake release missing and ratcheting spotty Dash is trash Radio wiring has been hacked up (what is wrong with people?) The good stuff: NO EXTERIOR RUST Vinyl floor Decent tires (though one is a different size) Intact rear window Dome lights present Tailgate decent It’s an MJ Hey it runs! Here’s some more pics for your viewing pleasure: In the background you can see my DD MJ Clair-e for which I have not yet created a tread, she is awaiting the warmness of spring for a fresh coat of paint, though I already have the bed fenders and tailgate painted and waiting.
  8. I will have to take a closer look in the light in the morning, thanks for replying
  9. The mirror pictured below was present on the mj I picked up today, I'm thinking they are factory since there is a cover over where the other type would mount. so what's the verdict factory or not factory?? Ty for any help on this.
  10. The aspire one zg5(a150) model can have 1.5gig of ram with 512mb being built on and a 512mb being replaceable with a 1gig stick. The Aspire one d250 can have 2 gigs of ram. I used a d250 as my main pc for a while running xp, not too bad and it is really thin, especially for the time it came out. As far as asus goes i fixed one up for my mom a few years ago, I find that they can be a quality computer but you have to make sure you get a good model. They are kind of hit and miss but overall they are a good product
  11. I actually supplemented my income (or lack there of) for a while by fixing netbooks. Mostly Acer Aspire one's. I've done at least ten of those and a few other laptop models. I generally buy them cheap on craigslist or ebay, but sometimes I get ahold of them for free from a family member who has broken and then upgraded. Great thing about netbooks is their parts are generally really cheap, and if you purchase recovery media from the oem you can actually use it on multiple computers if they are the same model, hence my focus on Acer aspire one's  easy way to make a quick $100 here or there. having the prominence of being a third year computer science major has also allowed me to get paid to fix a few computers for friends along the way too. gotta love a netbook
  12. At least google monitors you for free, with apple you pay them loads of cash and then they track your every move! its sort of like employing your stalker.... :ack:
  13. $12 : http://www.computermemoryoutlet.com/Asus-Asus_Notebooks-Eee_PC_1018P_Netbook-memory.htm
  14. They are not the same but you may be able to determine what kind you need by looking at the ram you already have installed. First of all how much ram do you have installed currently? Secondly if you can remove the ram cover on the bottom and examine the ram for any identification on the modules themselves they may reveal what kind you need. Also I looked it up and it seems that asus eee pc's have only used 2 types of ram, one is 200 pin ddr2 and the other is 204 pin ddr3 so that's good, if you can not find the type on ram on the module you should be able to count the pins (both sides) and figure out what kind you need. Though I know that model number has got to be on there somewhere! check this out :http://support.asus.com/repair.aspx?no=565&SLanguage=en
  15. It won't be a sticker it should be printed onto the plastic itself, somewhere near the asus logo on the bottom. Some models also have the model number printed on the corners of the bezel around the screen. If you still can't find it try checking the system properties by right clicking the my computer icon and pressing properties or using the hot key Windows Key + pause (which may require the use of the fn key on your netbook). If all else fails upload a good quality photo of the bottom of the computer and we I be able to help you identify it.
  16. :agree: I live like 2 mins from them, go there practically every weekend
  17. I love that bumper
  18. :yeah that: I wish I could weld that thing is sick!
  19. Awesome, thanks hornbrod
  20. you make an excellent point
  21. They've got to be some of the weakest rear bumpers I've ever seen. Thy can't take even the mildest of hits and everyone seems to love to back them into something! Though bumpers are designed to buckle under pressure to absorb some of the energy from the impact so... :dunno:
  22. I believe that the early AMC clusters were also white so color alone might not be the best indicator  ive got a renix 3/4 cluster if you want it
  23. Give $5 to a neighborhood kid if you don't want to do it yourself... worst that will happen to them is a and a "get outta my lawn"
  24. Hey guys, today I picked up a blue chime module and an xj visor at the jy. I was under the impression that the blue chime module would chime if you left your lights on, so far I am unable to produce this result; I really need it I have been known to leave my lights on from time to time. Can someone set me straight regarding the chimer? Regarding the visor I know some people have modified the xj visor to fit the mj, how much work is it? I am not afraid to put a little elbow grease into it, this was the first one I have ever seen irl so I had to have it. For $9 you can't go wrong
  25. That is crazy high! from a jy...
