I would love to help out  . I just need advanced notice because of work/family. Where exactly are you in FL? I know you told me but I cannot remember for the life of me. I think this sounds like a plan, get a few of us together on a weekend and have a little wrenching party  RockMJ

I would probably ride with someone. Mines 2wd still and I get nervous just driving it around the block to be honest. Still have a lot of kinks to be worked out of the system but I'm down for some exploring RockMJ

Same here man. I would love to come up and give a hand just need to know in advance when your thinking. I'm pretty much free on the weekends other than working on my own junk lol RockMJ

Ive been saying this for 6 months now haha! Well, hell if possible it would be nice to get everyone together to give you a hand with the motor swap. Would go a lot faster if we got all of us to come and give you a hand RockMJ

Hey guys, I am in need of a passenger side door panel to replace my destroyed one (PO's handy work :shake: ). I am looking for this style of door panel and in good shape please I live in FL and I do not mind driving to pick it up within reason but shipping would probably be the best option. Let me know what you have, post a picture and lets make a deal! RockMJ

Well of the three of us responding I think one of our rigs are currently drivable, that rig being Drahcir's. I would definitely like to link up with everyone even if its for a meet and greet type thing. My MJ should be moving after this weekend once I replace the injector o-rings and a few other things RockMJ

Agreed, the worst thing you could have done is try and turn it over and then actually starting it takes the cake. You are likely going to have issues but we all live and learn. Hopefully this is a lesson learned, and I believe weve all had our fair share of "idiot moments." If it makes you feel better I had an 87 YJ that I (the night before) put a snorkel on and was feeling brave. Well, I forgot to seal off the TB portion of the setup and I sank and stalled it in some deep water mid February in Pennsylvania. Here's a pic to clarify my "idiot moment" Note that at this point it had been pulled back 10' and when it originally occurred the water was cresting the bottom of the windshield. Really, really stupid on my part but I learned! Last time I ever entered deep water with a Jeep ;) RockMJ

Acceptable rust for a restoration buy?
RockMJ replied to Alexia's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have to agree with what everyone else has been saying. I know the thread is over a month old, but I'm curious as to what you decided upon based on seeing the MJ. My MJ was purchased from Ocala, FL about 8 months ago and I paid a good amount for it because of the condition it was in. Dropping 1600 doesnt sound like a lot, but I definitely got a rust free MJ (minus the typical floor spots). With a bit of POR-15, some time and effort and some Herculiner its all new again. I knew going into it that most MJ's have moisture problems under the rug so I was expecting minimal repair. The reason why I snagged mine is because the bed, body, rockers, etc are completely rust free. The Jeep has lived in FL its entire life and it certainly shows. The frame is completely spotless and ive been going through and undercoating what I feel necessary to keep it that way. All in all, what 87Warrior said is the best way to look at it. Too much rust depends on your level of skill, willingness to tackle it, and of course a wallet full of cash. Good luck man, and I hope we can welcome you to the MJ world soon RockMJ -
Ive run Clayton's Long Arm's in the past and the products are top notch and they withstand a serious amount of abuse. After running their product I wouldnt even consider running another LA kit from another manufacturer but thats just me. But the obvious cost scares people away and they go with a lesser kit and regret it. I did this myself and if I had gone Clayton's originally I would have saved a lot of time and money. And if you were curious, I ran the Rubicon Express kit before swapping it out for Clayton's stuff RockMJ

Btw, I read it to my wife and she replied "aww that was sweet of him. Tell him its okay!" Thanks again man and I'm sure well meet up at some point being as were pretty close RockMJ

Its all good man, no hard feelings. Sh*t happens and life gets in the way so its no big deal but I really appreciate you apologizing about it. We just couldnt afford to come back out that way as it was about a two hour round trip for us. I actually ordered up an LED third brake light setup so it all worked out in the end. I made the decision that a brake light is probably more useful right now over the bed light seeing as how the roads are overflowing with the elderly lol RockMJ

Just ordered up a 12 LED flush mount third brake light for the MJ. Simple two wire hook up and its all waterproof and sealed from the elements. Looking forward to getting it! RockMJ

Any info on the LED third brake light? Would like to see some specs on it and a place to purchase one. Jeep's looking good man RockMJ -
What are the reasons your going with a 3.4? It just seems with all of the work youll be going through you might be better off going with something that has more power output. There are several companies offering kits for our Jeep's to swap a SBC or something similar in. IIRC that 3.4 is pushing around 160hp or so right? And trust me, I'm not bashing by any means, I'm just curious as to why is all. Good luck man RockMJ

Gotcha, I remember your WJ man. Always liked it. I had the green ZJ I did the V8 swap in and the 44 axles from the FSJ BHFear, What condition are the release handles in? Could you post up pics? I need one to replace my beat to sh*t one. I would pick those two items up off of you. Let me know man RockMJ

I did figure out what I needed to make them work. I havent purchased them yet but its on the "tax return to-do list" RockMJ

There is a guy on eBay that sells the correct Pioneer decal kits and they are good for the LWB and SWB models. He can also do custom colors, ive already asked :D. Here's the link and the MJ looks great man http://www.ebay.com/itm/MJ-JEEP-COMANCHE-PICKUP-PIONEER-STRIPE-DECALS-STICKER-/160675276104?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item2568fe2548#ht_1556wt_1124 RockMJ -
I should probably make note that we should have a 'Manche Mash South East event for MJ's only :D RockMJ

Sorry guys that I havent responded to this in a while. Ocala is where I bought my MJ from a while back. I havent heard of that club but after a bad experience with one group down here out of Tampa I pretty much gave up on the club scene. Not to say I wouldnt get involved with another group if they were true Jeep people. Its nice to know there are more MJ owners in FL, and relatively local actually RockMJ

Thanks a ton for the heads up man. don't I know you from NAGCA a few years back? You had a blue WJ right? Dragon wagon or something like that? RockMJ
