It's rear. Buick V6 - 231ci. I'm gonna just grab another trans out of a junkyard.
-
Anybody know if a buick V6 bellhousing bolt pattern is the same as a SBC? I gotta go check. Edit Damn
-
Blew up the torque converter in my cutlass supreme today... Apparently it wasn't designed to stand neutral dropping from 4K with my foot hard on the brakes... Stupid GM. That is all.
-
What's your price for it? Pay like .63 a liter here, 87 is at 1.08.
-
Isn't propane inconvenient in the states? Here probably ever 3rd gas station has it. I heard from a dude with an RV on propane that he had trouble finding places to gas up, and had to wait outside BBQ stores and crap.
-
Do you know where that is? It looks a LOT like a place northeast of here. (Although, I know it's not.)
-
Did you make your gas tank? Or did you buy it? Oh yeah, your Jeep looks darn nice. Sometimes I think I should have just restored mine... Only thing is, I would never find a bed. Just noticed, you've got a lot of stocker rims/tires :P
-
Yeah, MIG is easier, nicer and everything else. But for the price... I'm simply too broke. And 70amps just doesn't cut it, at all.
-
You have to pull of the valve/head cover and clean it out to effectivly stop it. And change all the PCV lines ($$) or clean them out if you're cheap. Or so I hear. There's tutorials. I've never bothered - mine isn't too bad.

Sounds like mine... I had two 'manches in there, neither could move. Tools, well, I'm seriously lacking there: 10 pound sledge 5 pound sledge (only mention these two because they are favorites) A makita cordless drill (that won't die...) A makita angle grinder Makita chop saw (metal disk on it) Vice (usually just use c-clamps instead... either I'm lazy, or a sadist) Crap 70amp MIG (which I ran out of gas for, so I went back to flux core...) Bunch of random hand tools Oil hearter (best addition, hands down) Stereo (second best... other than it's a peice of crap) Bunch of other stuff... None worthy of naming, other than the scrap lumber, maybe. I make do with what I've got for the most part. Wish list for tools: (not in any praticular order) Drill press - I do it the annoying way. Half inch plate just ain't fun with a cordless drill. Real welder - I'd think stick, most band for the buck Bench grinder - Hate using an angle grinder to sharpen drill bits, etc. Air compressor - Nah, air tools are for pussies... Although, it would have made stripping my whole truck easier. Press - would be very nice...

Never been a fan of round, but it looks clean! -
Redoing all the vac lines
DirtyComanche replied to 87manche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My FSM covers every model produced in 89. YJ, XJ, MJ, SJ but as it does it 10 series(SJ), 60 series(MJ), 70 series(XJ), 80 series(YJ) (I think). It has every transmission other than the AX-15 (which I have a seperate book for) and every T-case and engine... Also has a seperate book for electrical. It's kinda useful, even when my friends with cherokees (of varying years) break things it'll normally be in my FSM. -
There's a sensor under the coolant resivoir bottle, bolted to the fender, if memory serves. The dash light might be burned out. And yeah, they all got them, if it is 4wd, I think.

That looks sharpe! I was going to do that to my axle at least... then I said f' it.

Where to buy speedo gear?
DirtyComanche replied to Bounty Hunter's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Those are discontinued? That really is not convenient. Might try phoning advance adapters - I think they make the speedo gears? -
Brake porpotioning valve...
DirtyComanche replied to DirtyComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Safety isn't an issue as I see it. I'm going to die young one way or another, so it might as well be in my jeep. Okay, so I should just get the flare wrenches out and have at it, I think. Although, I guess I should hit up napa again first for some more brake lines. -
We've covered this before? Ohwell. I'm looking to remove it, as it never functioned for me anyways and all my brake lines back there are rather on the rusted through side. I'd also like to run my brake line from the center of the crossmember down to the pumpkin. So, it has a return line from it, which and it's seperate from the line that actually runs to my axle. From this I can assume that it allows pressure to bleed off the line and back to the MC. Am I right? Or do I have it all wrong? My light broke in my garage, so I was kinda guessing. Now, to remove it. All I have to do is remove the T that runs to it, pull it off, and plug the return line at the MC? (It's all an assumption that the return line goes to the MC, I couldn't see... stupid value village lightbulbs) Or am I off my rocker?

I've got to invest in some body armour myself. Luckily I'm not afraid to take 3 days with an angle grinder to make things fit. But first, make it driveable... or rollable.
-
Hmmm, TPS? Try cleaning it, if that helps, buy a new one.
-
Oh, wait, I "think" the rev limiter is 5200... I've hit 6grand because my trans has a few issues... I've never actually just left it in first and kept on it until it hit the limiter. So, I dunno. I'm not very helpful as far as that goes.

Scary noise coming from my 4.0L
DirtyComanche replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You said you pulled the belt? So you've narrowed it down to not being your fan or any accessories? How about if there was some crap in your bellhousing that rubs the flywheel or something? -
Transmission mount
DirtyComanche replied to DirtyComanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Awesome, that's all I needed to know. I figured there shouldn't be any issues. I tried shifting it, and it shifts fine right now at about an inch higher than normal, so I should be good. Yeah, I had to re-drill the transmission mount holes on the crossmember too. Seems there's more differences than they knew of. However, it's all no big deal really. -
Is it okay if my transmission winds up being 1/4" to 1/2" higher than stock? I've got to build a new mount, and I want to take the easy way out. I think my driveshaft angles shouldn't be an issue. To middle fingers to rusty's for never having installed their kit on a 'manche.

5200 for the renix, I think...
