ahem. Id take an old Blue Oval pickup over an old BlowTie pickup any day. 300cid inline-6 Fords are damnear indestructible. I have a thing for old Ford and Dodge trucks. Chev Cars are really nice too, but I like International-Harvester's too. Merc pickups are sweet too. But no Chevdroolets

My friend and I are setting up a POS 1984 LTD (implanted 305 2bar th400 auto) as a derby car. Its got a Ford 9" and we're looking to throw *no* money into it. We need to lock the rear end and we're thinking welding it. Helpful instructions would be great, theres really no cause for safety, its going to be destroyed.

The Stereos on our MJ's
Kenosha Warrior replied to CWLONGSHOT's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
When I go to upgrade the sound, I'm going to get the headlier re done but before that, I'm going to fab some speaker boxes out of wood and cover them in headliner material, mount them up in the upper cab corners. No loss of storage space and none of that muffled sound from the seat (I like my bench) -
There's a separate computer for the tranny in a XJ. It may be toast, but from what you describe, it may be a bad Tq Con.

alternatives to bucket seats
Kenosha Warrior replied to DansGreyMj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thats funny add 4 of those Pizza Pizza boxes that hold 2 XL pizza's, 2x24 flats of pop and some chips and you can barely see. -

whoa now. With determination. 2 guys 5'11 and 180+ pounds and a girl 5'10 170 lbs can stuff into my benched MJ. Its a tight fit and everyone gets to know everyone else. And you need to open the doors from the outside, and lock them on before you shut them, ect. It can be done :) -
JBHill does :brows: but the sheer weirdity of his MJ makes up for it.,

Changed the grill today...
Kenosha Warrior replied to BLHTAZ's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Nice. I just threw the grille from a '85 cherokee on the MJ. fake-chrome 8 slot :) -
cover the dizzy. You should be good. oh, maybe cover the alternator? Relays are a must to be covered.

I fell in love with Jeep's after watching Urban legends and getting scared half to death, with the 4dr Brown Woody G-Wag. I laid eye's on my MJ (first one ever, too, I was a paperboy) I bought it and still want a FSJ, specifically a GWag. I'm debating. Ill know tomorrow if I can afford it or not haha.
-
Eagle, Oh yeah. I'm going to go over the frame like mad. Ive seen people bondo FSJ frames to pass it off as good :(

This summer I'm cannabalizing an XJ to wheel. so The waggy may pull tow rig for the XJ but it'll be my DD. Propane may be an option. I may do the prop swap, what are parts availability and how hard would it be to do the 'pane swap, Scott? its in good shape. Once I see some pics I may revise my price. But for a running, sh*t kickin' shape waggy for $1000-$1100 isn't too bad. Id probably get under there and box the frame with plate steel though. Wire wheel it and plate it, then undercoat it.

Ive got a chance at a 1984 Grand Wagoneer. Its 2hrs away from me and would be my DD because the owner of the GW will either take the MJ as a trade OR Ill sell the MJ to pay for the G-Wag (he wants 1250 obo canadian, so I may offer $1100) I could get atleast $850-$900 canadian for the MJ. Its in great shape and will pass the safety now with a clean slate, same with emissions testing. The Good for the Wag. I want one badly. I love MJ's but my original Heep love was the Grand Wag from 'Urban Legends' It fits more people its 4x4. rebuilt motor (360) and tranny (727) (dates and mileage to come) It was a family DD so it wasn't abused. The Bad: its a v8 360 Its a 4x4 it fits more people I'm 17, so the bad really is just because of the Insurance. If I keep the 360 tuned nicely, I can probably swing 12-15mpg. The wag is in awesome shape, so it my MJ. Both are low to moderate with rust, wag owner says the tailgate needs a bit of work. Wag will pass safety no problem, same with the MJ. Any opinions? Its all here in Ontario. I want a G-Waggy so bad it hurts. I can forego bad fuel economy for no e-test. Ill have pics and mileage ASAP.

socket and breaker bar on the Harmonic or pull it and let the clutch out in 3rd gear

pics!?

ok. linkage check time. if the handle goes all the way down, but its still in x4, Id check the linkage.
-
put it in 2wd, jack up the front and turn the wheels. The CAD shaft should have disconnected and you should only turn 1 wheel. if its stuck in x4, it'll turn both wheels. Sure the light isn't malfunctioning?

Put a BF flathead screwdriver against the lil box that holds both switches and hit it with a hammer. It pops through the dash and you can pull the switch out easily. I do it in the junkyard whenever I need a switch. Ive got an old-tyme roofer's hammer. large flat head, the end is flat and has a notch for pulling nails, but its completely flat. I use that and a BF flathead/prybar. Sometimes an ax.
-
Thanks. :D Don't forget to grab the switches from the dash too! entire unit will be coming out. but Ill probably hacksaw the dash about 1" around just because I'm lazy.

I found a haven of junkied mj's, a few with rearends sitting on the roof. I know of 3 cargo lights. that are there. 2 that have all parts and one that needs the lens. Once the snow melts, so in the spring, I'm going to go get all 3 of them. Ill bookmark one for you, man. but don't stop looking haha.

Kenosha Warrior replied to gildo's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
