  1. I hear you loud and clear
  2. ^^^ Previous owner had 4 different size tires( no where near 32") with 4 different tread patterns and depths :hmm: . I got a full cluster off of an XJ at the Junkyard as well since mine was originally the "idiot" light one. I think I may have a tach laying around in my garage so I'll try to dig it up just to cross reference the readings.
  3. I'll pop cover and count the teeth when I get a chance, I'm actually kind of excited to see if I do have 4:56's :) ,,,, but then again if I don't????
  4. 235/75/15 - so 29" tire ?
  5. Between $2,000 -$4,000 on average, unless it's had a lot of custom work then the prices go north of $7,000.
  6. Hey guys, I decided to mess around with the RPM/gear ratio calculator many online sites offer and noticed something isn't right with my set up. At 75MPH on the highway my tachometer shows 2700RPM ( and I must say it runs BEAUTIFUL)meaning my ring and pinion would be close to a 4:56 ratio? I've never actually tried to figure out the gear ratio but if I'm not mistaken the 4:56 ratio was only available with the 2.5 from the factory? is it possible that I may have an issue with my transmission overdrive or torque converter lock up ? the transmission shifts perfectly fine, the transmission fluid is Dex/Merc and it's 100% new since I had it flushed this September. One last thing I checked the fuse under the dash in the passenger side and it's good, thanks.
  7. Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase.
  8. Sorry to keep dragging this on and for asking a dumb question but will I need a wheel alignment after swapping in the WJ stuff? I'm guessing the toe may be a little off ? thanks
  9. It was not possible at all without puncturing the "tubes" on the one evaporator I got that actually fit the heater box, the second one I got didn't fit in the box at all.
  10. If you end up finding one with the hole please let me know,I got a few different ones from Rock auto and none of them had it.I'm thinking of pulling one from the junkyard and having it flushed.
  11. Thanks for sharing Hornbrod
  12. Nice!!!! wanna trade? :brows:

    Finally...

    No kidding!! Congrats OP
  14. Sorry to hear that buddy I hope everything turns out OK for you, BTW I agree with your title as well. Part of the big reason I plan on getting the heck out of So Cal LOL!!
  15. Do you know if I will also need to install the WJ booster and MC? I already have the dual diaphragm 96 XJ one installed.
  16. Hi there, I think we'd be able to help you better if you gave us some info on your vehicle.
  17. This ^^^^ is the greatest! Seeing the younger generation have enthusiasm for a classic I agree a few of the younger guys where I work have commented on mine in a good way. I gave a ride to one of them when he was new and he said he had NEVER seen a truck like mine :laughin: .
  18. Man I am jealous!!! That looks like a great way to relax. You have a very nice MJ as well.
  19. Oops you're right I forgot to list the calipers and corresponding caliper brackets. I will try to verify the stub shaft interchangeability when I get a chance.
  20. Good to know the 4WD stubs will be OK to use. Here's where I'm at on this upgrade- WJ Knuckles WJ Hubs WJ Rotors WJ Stub Shafts WJ Lower Ball joints Spidertrax 5x5 to 5x4.5 adapters does this seem right?
  21. Thank you, I have one off of an 86 in great condition and the comment just threw me off a bit
  22. 1. Loosen up the 4 fan mounting bolts ( do not remove yet ) 2. Release Tension on serpentine belt 3. Remove mechanical fan together with fan shroud 4. Remove AC compressor You can see 2 bolts holding the bracket towards the top and there is one more under them (cannot see it in this picture) It helps to have the bracket on a vise but it is not 100% necessary. IMPORTANT- measure the gap between the pulley and the bracket so you know how far to press it back on when you re install it or you may have serpentine belt alignment issues, it doesn't have to be exact just close enough. You can use a 3 jaw puller like the one shown to remove the fan pulley. These are easily available from Sears, Harbor freight or can be rented from the big chain auto part stores. I had to use some spare pieces of steel plate as a shim ( I tried shortening the arms on my puller but they wouldn't hold), I wound up using a socket once the pulley made contact with the "shims" to pull it through Fan mount pulley removed Backside of AC bracket You will need a ball joint press tool to remove the old bearing, set it up so the force screw pushes the bearing out towards the front of the AC bracket. The press has a hole large enough for the bearing to pass through on the other end. Here is the old bearing next to the new one, the original was also manufactured by NSK. I used a combination of washers to press the new bearing in. I wanted to use the outside of the bearing instead of the bearing shaft to press it in. Here's the way I set up the washers, the big rusty washer was to give the ball joint press something to press against. This is a light press and doesn't need an impact or a lot of force. I used a thinner piece of metal I had lying around so the force screw had something to "sit" on Front of Bracket Rear of Bracket New Bearing installed Use the same procedure to press the pulley back on (the washers aren't necessary for this step) Finished!! NSK bearing part number 885586 or 665325 will work, the only difference is the 885586 bearing shaft will extend further out of the backside of the bracket which doesn't matter since there won't be any interference with anything. I was able to get the 885586 from Motion Industries for $35.00 and the 665325 from locate ball bearings.com for $35.00 also I emailed them to confirm availability, it seems it's a common number so I think it's safe to assume they aren't scarce.
  23. Congrats!!! you have a very nice looking truck  ,,,,, sorry to sound like an idiot but all Comanche tailgates are the same right?
  24. If you didn't have that chirp before and haven't changed anything aside from the thermostat housing I would put my money on the belt being soaked in coolant as the cause of the noise, I would suggest cleaning the pulleys with brake cleaner as much as possible to keep the new one from getting contaminated.
