  1. Then its pretty much a direct swap. Just make sure you have the correct year cluster. If you get a cluster from a 4.0 it will need to be adjusted for the 2.5, but I can't really help with that
  2. I like that idea, i even have an extra Jeep hood i can use.. Maybe I will make a second dog house and use the Hood as the roof.. I don't know why they don't use the one in the kennel (the kennel is huge, almost the same size as my house)
  3. So I am having trouble keeping Charlie off mt Jeeps. I was fine when she only got on the Comanche, but because its been broken down at my parents house Charlie has moved to my Grand Cherokee. Its been raining a lot lately, and we think she is looking for a dry elevated spot to nap. (elevated to the point my other beagles can't bother her).. So far the scratches look like they will buff out. So, we are thinking about making a small platform in the front yard and hopefully she will stay off the Jeeps.. There is also nowhere I can Park my Jeeps where my Dogs can't go. I am going to fence off the back yard at some point and that will keep her contained... maybe... (all my dogs can escape the kennel..) I am open to ideas, but mostly just venting my slight frustration with her. Every time i see her on the jeep i do spray her with water.. Other than sleeping on the cars she is a well behaved dog
  4. Just wondering, I have been looking into getting a better welding machine than my 90 amp Harbor freight. It's good for small things, I already killed one while working on a small project but, thankfully the warranty replacement was simple.
  5. if you plan to run full time 4wd I would look into V8 ZJ cv style shafts.. I have some, (and a couple pics on my build thread) it will make turns smoother while in 4wd, the shafts are simple to swap. you can keep the U-Joint shafts as backups if they are in good shape
  6. my 242 fit without any problem, now as far as properly (correct shaft length) I don't know.. All i can say is it bolted up to my AX-15 and it seems to work
  7. when i spoke with the Jeep parts department, they said it was not available anymore ant they could not get it... so 3rd party suppliers might have them, but you might only be able to find it in a junk yard. I am still looking for the same part.. I have been looking at the Novak shift cable http://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/shifters/sk2xc.htm
  8. I took a chance with the TJ bracket pictures above. The pictures that Blue88Comanche posted up top is the bracket you and I need. Any chance you remember the website for that mopar wholesaler? I don't remember them, I have tried for months to find them again.. I have also searched all 4 of my email accounts for the order and can't seem to find it anywhere. the problem is there are a ton of other websites that where set up almost identical to the one I used. I am pretty sure they where based out of florida however. but its been about 3 or so years, sense I bought that part
  9. I had the same problem finding mine... I ended up finding a MOPAR wholesale place online that had it. normally I stay away from those places but when I called they actually had someone answer by the 3rd ring, and it was an American, who was actually helpful. I think shipped it was about $100 total, the rubber part was seperate
  10. Well while my check was in transit someone bought the Comanche. But its not going to the crusher.
  11. how did you mount it to the mj? Don't the XJ and MJs have different setups?
  12. yesterday Steven and I removed the last few parts we wanted before i call the local P&P to take the jeep. Sadly the fuel sender and gas tank where in terrible condition
  13. That's it! I love how it looks
  14. I have seen it done here on the forum, i wish i had some links and names for you.. there was one guy who had a rear tube bumper made with lights and a hidden winch, it looked awesome. gearing is going to be your best friend for gas mileage. for my front bumper, i still have the factory bumper but added a warn Trans4mer grille guard. it has a 8k winch and 2 recovery points mounted to it. (you can get a front 2" receiver instead of a winch carrier) its not super heavy
  15. the rear drum brake "should" adjust automatically in a perfect world. how i adjust the rear brakes, I remove the tires and drum brake, and adjust the screw thing at the bottom, then i test fit the drum, till its almost snug. i then put everything back together, get in the jeep and drive forward a few feet and press the brakes hard, then reverse and press the brakes hard, repeat 3 to 5 times.
  16. so my uncle is going to look at the Comanche tomorrow, if it runs we will buy if not I told him to at least get the tail lights, (I need to add the tailgate to the list).. if its in good shape I will be sending him the money and he has offered to tow the Comanche down for me, as it turns out they where planning to come down and visit my grandparents anyway. so that's a big plus!
  17. what is the amp output of the welder you are using?
  18. When I was first told about it I thought it was an impounded Jeep. I also can but don't have the best method of transportation for the jeep. But I am going to buy it. I have made up my mind.. just need to talk to my uncle
  19. it also turns out the jeep is owned by a guy who works at the impound yard, so it should have a clear title.
  20. I have a class III hitch, but don't have a brake controller yet. I am thinking this would be my best option its in or round Huntsville, AL I think dad and or I will be getting it. mom says I can't put it in her yard till I get rid of red lol
  21. if you are interested in selling your old SWB shaft, Dad has been looking for one to start his 4wd conversion.
  22. Back when we had the F-250 I used a Uhaul car trailer. I have a WK with the 4.7L V8 but Uhaul Says i Should not (and may not) use their car trailer.. I was thinking about a dolly but i don't know the condition of the tires on the truck. I may be able to Borrow another uncles Dodge 1500 (again 4.7L V8 but uhaul says its good, I guess because its bigger?) the only problem is they only have the one Truck and i am unsure if my insurance will let someone other than me use the Jeep (i will be checking into that), I know His insurance will not allow others drive the truck, so he would be coming along as well.
  23. and the exterior of the bed looks awesome.. I just don't have a good way to tow it across the state
