  1. Swapped out the parking break cables, but ran out of daylight before I could get them and or the drum brakes adjusted properly. Tomorrow after work hopefully I can get all that taken care of. But as something is fix why must something else stop working! I also get to figure out my interior light problem as well...
  2. Ya the 36 is close enough for now, I think in February I will get a 37. -- Fixed the coolant leak, a small hole developed on the upper radiator hose under the hose clamp by the thermostat housing. It's no longer leaking anywhere I can find! :)
  3. Got my Comanche back last night. He only regeared the rear axle so far. He said to bring it back after Christmas and he will do the front then. Swapped speedometer gears, it appears I may need to buy another one... I still need to try my 36 tooth gear. Before I took the MJ to get the gears swapped I replaced the pressure bottle and thermostat. Well now the bottle is fine and its now leaking somewhere around the thermostat housing.... I hope the housing is not bent or cracked. Hopefully today I can also replace the parking break cables.
  4. Looks Great!
  5. from what i read, newly machined parts are not perfectly smooth, they have tiny "mountains" and pores. when new gears are "broken in" the rubbing surfaces cause these tiny "mountains" to be warn down, and leafing tiny metal particles in the oil. the added friction from wearing those mountains down in addition to the new gears not having the oil soaked into those microscopic pores (creating a protective film) generates more heat than normal. the metal particles in the oil can also increase wear on the bearing. the article i was reading also said the friction heat can get hot enough to destroy new bearings and or gears. Thus the cool down time for the first few trips.. That's how i understand it anyway. It makes sense to me...
  6. Does the Co2 last longer or more uses than compressed air from the same size tanks?
  7. x2 its not a new Jeep lol. while it may not be needed i am going to play it safe anyway. I will just use the jeep to make short trips in town till i hit 150 miles then take it to work (30 min drive) 2 days a week till i hit 500 miles. the change the oil. and may change the oil again with the next oil change to make sure the roll pin is not working out again....
  8. most of those precautions where from a vendor from another site.. wish i saved the link for reference. but good to know i may not need to follow it to the letter
  9. I hopefully will be getting my Jeep back this sometime in the next day or so. I have read on several forums how to break in new gears, just want to triple check. This is what i have gathered: The first several trips must not be longer than 20 min. After the first several trips the diff must cool down for at least 45 min. No heavy acceleration Vary speed (if possible) Change diff oil after first 500 miles No towing during the first 1,000 miles After towing for the first time let the diff cool down for 45 min. Anything i missed or should add? Thanks,
  10. Here where bad plays on both sides. I am glad the game is over lol. So, because Ohio won their game, does auburn have a chance an the national?
  11. War Eagle!!! That was an awesome game!!! That was a very close game, both teams played very well.
  12. The last few minutes of this game is killing me! LOL
  13. The game has started!
  14. The iron Bowl is tomorrow, and I now wish my sister did not sell her season tickets (including the Iron Bowl). I think it will be a good game and I am hoping it will be a close scoring one as well. I don't really follow college football or know how the ranking system works so...... Ultimately I want a team from the State of Alabama to go to the National Championship game. But I would be thrilled if Auburn won the Iron Bowl, and so on. My family has planned a gathering to finish off Thanksgiving leftovers, and for some other home made goodies. Tomorrow will be a great day with family, no matter what team wins.
  15. Replaced the battery today. My gauges where acting up.. when I would start the car the tachometer would drop to 0 then a moment later work like normal, then the gas gauge would do the same. I wonder if there is a built in test that let's you know the battery is going bad. When I was heading home the car almost did not start... So I went straight to the auto parts store to test the battery and charging system. The test that advanced auto did showed it only had 275-350 amps, its was a 650CCA battery.. now I have the police package battery with 1000 CA and 900 CCA. And everything it working properly again.
  16. I could not find my fishing line, otherwise it would have been my first choice.
  17. I tried to reply sooner but the tapatalk app on my iPhone keeps throwing a code.... Anyway, I plan to use some rubbing compound like you suggested. As for the cowl hood idea that's awesome! Pm me your zip, and we can work out a price. Tomorrow I will get some pics with it sitting on the hood of an MJ.
  18. Got the scoop off today. It was not too bad with the right tools. It was also a 2 person job. I had to enlist the help of my mom lol. Started with this ugly thing.. To remove it I used a hand held steam cleaner and a 3 foot section of hand braided waxed dental floss. the scoop was starting to come off by it self any way so that helped some.. i was able to pry up one corner so mom could start directing steam at the tape.. we would alternate steam and the floss tool till we where able to completly remove the scoop. after the scoop was removed we used the steamer again to remove the last of the tape. a credit card was useful in this step. I washed the hood then came back with a clay bar, that removed most of the marks. We then used scratch doctor and got most of the remaining marks off. these are the only marks i could not remove and seem to have damaged the paint. it was caused by a support in the hood scoop. Thankfully they are not very noticeable. I then applied a nice thick layer of wax to the hood. And here is the Charger's new look! I think it is much better without the scoop. braiding the floss took the longest of all the work, simply using the strands unbraided would not provide enough strength to actually cut the tape.
  19. I would say wait and see if they offer something better than usual. They might discount certain parts rather that a % off coupon. But if you need the MJ ASAP I would just use the discount you have. But seeing as I am broke from my gear replacement, all I can do is look through their catalog thinking "I really wish I could afford those rear shocks"...
  20. it sounds to me like the price really does not matter as log as repairs or body work does not exceed $500... but i haven't read your attached link yet The vehicle itself has to have an established value of $500. Which can be done with the ads. . I just read the rules... disregard my first statement... sorry about that
  21. you can get a set of o rings from most any auto parts store, they usually come with a tool to help install them.. might as well replace all the injector o rings while you have the fuel rail off.. also would be a good time to clean the injectors. it took us about an hour or so to remove clean and re-install the injectors
  22. dads was leaking, we started by replacing all the o-rings. then we discovered one of the injectors were cracked. went to the JY and bought a set for fairly cheap. here are a couple pics i could find

  24. I will PM you so we don't Hijack this thread
