  1. Plus it takes fewer cycles in New England since everything rusts there, including plastic. :D That ain't no joke... Well waiting my next paycheck to buy a new radiator... luckily $100 isn't too steep for a fix like this. Just puzzles me how it could happen, especially now out of any other time... Bad coolant mixture -> Water froze and cracked the radiator? Something else failed which caused it to overheat and blow out of the radiator? I'm thinking that because the radiator actually blew after the car was turned off, that it was due to the fact that the fan shut off and that the water pump stopped circulating...
  2. Well, I was making the "maiden voyage" to my dorm with my new-to-me and finally-fixed 96' Grand Cherokee. Needed a tranny replacement, and while I was down there also changed out the NP249 for a NP242. Shortened and balanced driveshaft. That's about it for work to it. So, I figured why not? It's only a 25 mile ride... I get there, hop out of my car, go to the passenger's side door to get my things, and all I hear is a pffft-ssssssshhhhhhh followed by a lot of fluid on the ground and steam everywhere... Sigh... Should I be worried as to WHY is busted like that?
  3. So far, I've seen cheapest prices at Advance Auto using their online order system with applicable coupon codes. Got a battery there for $70 after tax that was originally around $110 or so. Try codes CCABIN or VISA -- they give the biggest discounts.
  4. http://worcester.craigslist.org/cto/3125982322.html If I had the money, I would totally grab this... Already seems like a good base to start with, some rot but doesn't look to bad. Wonderful interior color though :chillin:

  6. $14K and no buckets? Deal breaker :clapping:
  7. If you are looking for another helping hand, I've had experience with phpbb, IP Board, and SMF, and I wouldn't mind helping to organize and/or migrate. Who hosts the site now? It seems a little odd that they have no experience with phpbb... IMO, I would move hosts in that case. Either way, let me know. I've not sure how badly damaged this current one is, but phpbb has always been an easy one to play around with. As long as you don't lose the information that's stored...
  8. So, not the inner shifter boot? http://www.quadratec.com/products/52109_02.htm
  9. I have never seen the newer style gauges with dummy lights, interesting
  10. I'm not seeing the 97+ swap already done, unless you were stating that it would be a good candidate for the swap...
  11. Until someone determines you 'unfit'. So you don't mind someone (gov) determining your rights? the govt should also do the same for chainsaws, nail guns, torches and or anything else that can hurt you... If thats your thinking where does it end? before you know it you will have have the govt check and see if you are eligible to hold a permit to poop  Oh please, I think guns are far more dangerous (especially in the hands of a mentally-ill teenager or adult that was able to buy one with proper background check) than a chainsaw or nail gun. It's like getting your driver's license... What, do you all find that unfair also?
  12. I am all for this though
  13. Is that a ZJ grill on it in the first picture?
  14. They hold a soft spot to me. On the right truck, I think they're just as handsome as all get-out! Just part of another theoretical build in my head. :hijack: I understand completely, and it seems that they'd go even better with a nice '86 diesel MJ... Mmmm...
  15. I've heard many people say ZJs with the 4.0 are like dogs... I've personally never drove one. I currently own a 96 ZJ with the 5.2... It's a peppy vehicle, when its running. The transmissions on these things are known to go, so definitely check out the fluid and make sure its not burnt or badly soiled, then you could be in for some trouble.
  16. I actually had a "problem" on here... Sent $40 via money order to jtdesigns for a gauge cluster. Never received the cluster, nor have heard back from him. I'm not sure if something went horribly wrong, does anyone have any idea where he has gone? :???:
  17. I don't think he's posted any pictures yet... :dunno:
  18. But... a lowrider 4x4 isn't technically stock with these trucks...? Yeah, I understand that they are 4x4 and people go... well... 4-wheeling... but I prefer a Comanche stock whether it be 2WD or 4WD... Go buy a Cherokee if you want to wheel ;)
  19. I tend to be a purist with Comanches, I'd go back to stock/restore. I can't stand when people take these and lift the up and cut them up
  20. You see Comanches that are selling for more than $14,000 (in today's money, roughly $7500 in 1992)?
  21. I'm not sure I like the style of organizing and selling the actual vehicles through YouTube videos, but that is just me... I think text with pictures would look much nicer and cleaner
  22. Well, since I only own one vehicle currently, I'll combine all vehicles I've had. 1989 Dodge W100 - 23 years old 2000 Saturn SL2 - 12 years old 1988 Jeep Comanche - 24 years old 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee - 16 years old Average of 18.75 years
  23. I do believe its the transfer case making the noise. Put a stethoscope on it and the noise is certainly worse near the transfer case. Question is, do I stay 249 or go 242? Another question, are they the same input/output shafts and linkage for 4.0 or 5.2? Just wondering if I need to be careful to which engine I grab one off of. Is the 242 a simple swap out with the 249?
  24. Does anyone have any experience with the above? Went to go check out a '96 ZJ 5.2L that has the 44RE and the NP249. I know the viscous coupler on those transfer cases like to go, and the transmission themselves aren't that reliable. Vehicle does have 193K miles on it, but current owner changed tranny fluid and filter. As for the noise, you can hear a grinding noise coming from right underneath whenever the vehicle is in motion. It becomes worse as you go faster. As of this point, the only way for me to check and see what it really is would be to jack it up on all four wheels and observe it in drive under there. Does anyone have any ideas? The unit itself is overall cheap, but I just don't want to get myself into too much of a project. I'm hoping its just the transfer case (easiest swap imo) rather than the transmission itself or the front axle.
