mine is 45" collapsed 49.25" extended with a sye, and SOA. had a custom cv driveshaft made out of 3" or 2.5" tube, forgot to measure when i was just out there. it wasnt cheap coming in at $380. your setup needs to be corrected, either lengthen your driveshaft ( around $100 at my place) and fix the seal, or get a sye and have a custom shaft made for $$$. as it was stated before, the terra 2 low doesnt change gearing, it just allows you to be in 2wd low range instead of 4low. i just find it fun to see how far you can go in 2wd. sounds like the guy in town has a good gig charging $100 to install a seal and $250 to install a sye :ack: when i did my sye, it took 2-2.5 hrs. take your time and have a little patience and i would say most people can do it. or prepare to be bent over and screwed without lube by your trusted mechanic

the driver side of the mj floor needs alot of work, rust going halfway up the tranny tunnel. I'm sure i can make it work, but does anybody know for sure if they are the same exact thing, meaning the bends/reinforcment beads etc lineing up? and also, the crossmember or lower radiator support, did that change over the xj/mj years? the mj has a 97+ radiator in it and i don't like the crossmember, kinda browsing to see if i need a 97+ or what.

I just sold my '92 but before I did I went through the cooling system. I read as much as I could find for about a day or two because I tend to over-think things and research too much. I was also ready to pony up for the 3 row, but in the end I went with the copper 2 row with metal tanks from radiatorbarn.com and was totally happy with it (got it the next day even though I paid standard shipping). I read that the cooling differences between the copper and aluminum were actually nil, and that aluminum was easier to corrode. I also read that the 2 row was more efficient than a 3 in most situations. It seems that people who spend a lot of time at slow crawling speeds liked the 3 row, but only if they had really strong fans. For most trail and D/D situations the 2 row was more preferred. I also needed to replace my aux e-fan and decided to buy the newer 10 s-blade design, cut off the connector and splice it to my old connector. Worked perfectly and did a fantastic job. After all this I tested it out in my driveway by removing the mechanical fan and letting it sit at idle to get up to operating temp and see what the e-fan alone could do. Took forever! I ended up holding it at 2000 rpm just to get the temp to climb and when the e-fan kicked on at 220* it only took about 30 seconds to bring it below the 210 mark where the fan shut off. I actually drove it for a couple weeks with no mechanical fan at all just to see how it felt, in traffic as well, and the temps never quite got to 210*. I recommend keeping the stock 195* thermostat also. Ended up putting the mechanical fan back on because I didn't find the gains I was hoping to see. That's my experience, and also my recommendation as far as radiator. from this thread.. http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/radiato ... row-49018/ I'm sure youll be fine with the 3 row, but a while back i was reading up on 2 row vs 3 row and have decided on the 2 row when i get ready to upgrade. from what i remember reading, some people were having cooling issues with their new radiators from putting a lower temp t-stat in, just a fyi if that happens to you.

Rustys Throttle Spacer??
cody4359 replied to 1989 Eliminator's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
don't wast your $$, never felt or noticed any gains with my poweraid TB spacer. i did notice a SLIGHT power increase with a bored out TB and close to 1 mpg gain. i also put on a banks torque tube and noticed a decent low end increase. over all id say save your money for gears/tires/lockers and skip the small bolt ons. 505 performance has a few cams that have always caught my eye tho -
i have a advanced adapters sye, it was my sencond choice to the JB conversions sye which was on back order when i needed one. while its apart, throw in a terra 2 low. twoards the bottom of the page is the terra 2 low, cheapest place i could find it and it has free shipping http://sams4x4store.com/TeraFlexDriveTrain.htm the hardest part of the install is messing with the snap rings. invest in a quality heavy duty set. and you can install it with it in the truck to save time. just keep in mind that if you do a sye, its going to move your yoke ahead a few inches, meaning that you will more than likely need to get that fancy aluminium driveshaft lengthened.

 is your buggy a sammy? i might have to break down and get the 231 cable shifter one of these days

1990 Rebirth ('97 Conversion)
cody4359 replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
while you have the tcase apart for the sye throw in a terra 2lo. only taken mine out a few times since i installed it but it added to the fun factor. i put in a advanced adapters sye because the JB conversion was on back order. everybody seems happy with the AA kit, not that its nessary but JB has a shorter output yoke and it looks like they were a bit more high quality. -
