mustang 5.0 to jeep fuel injector
offroader461 replied to jeepman09's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
stock renix injectors have a 1 pintle sprayer...the ford injectors have a 4style pintle sprayer which means the fuel will atomize better..the HO motors also have a similar style pintle..they are both better than the Renix ones -

offroader461 replied to jeepman09's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
i put them in just over a yr ago and my HP went up slightly(minimal), my idle smoothed out greatly and my MPG went up which is what i was hoping for...very good upgrade if you get the reman'd ones -
Was walking down one of the isles today at the local yard and happen to stumble across this trashed 88 Comanche: salvaged what i could but it was REALLY DESTROYED

My 2wd drives like @#$^&*&^%#$#$@
offroader461 replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Did you replace the bushing? I saw some two piece ones for 10 bucks at rock wouldn't be a waste to change it would it? I'm actually talking about the bolts that attach the TB bracket to the frame -

I'm about to unfortunatly pull the head off my 87 MJ 4.0 and was wondering when i put it back together should i use any copper sealer on the headgasket?? I'm using the Felpro headgasket part # FPG 9076PT1 from NAPA have read alot of threads that say not to use anything and just put it on dry...ANY THOUGHTS???

No Radio or Clock memory
offroader461 replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs

? on Mechanical temp gauge
offroader461 replied to Throttle_Jockey's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
np a little more help to make it easier...the sensor has only one wire going to it. don't pull the sensor unless the motor is cool and on a level surface...coolant will flood out, or burn the $#!+ out of you. just like opening a radiator cap...not a good idea :P did that when i swapped that sensor out..it sprayed me and i jumped off the truck LOL  -
? on Mechanical temp gauge
offroader461 replied to Throttle_Jockey's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
you can buy a late model thermostat housing and it has a port for the temp guage already threaded in it...just find the correct thread adapter and you will get the most accurate reading you can find...Hope that helps some  -
IMO i would just leave it alone until you have money to start another project..

LOL...yea F' the neighbors...what you see when you look at my house is my MJ parked blocking 1 spot in the driveway and partially in front of my neighbors house (he is cool with it tho)..my brothers s10 with no motor in it sitting in the driveway..my Integra in the street in front of my house...then when my g/f and buddies come over there is cars EVERYWHERE...

Well unfortunantly the old XJ was just giving up on me..only averaging 13 MPG recently..it needed new gears (complete rear axle), then trans was slipping and the A/C pump went out...so i stripped most of the aftermarket stuff off and sold it..time to move on  But the new owner called yesterday and already busted the p/s axle shaft due to stupidity
-
Well i was forced to let the XJ go in favor of a vehicle with better MPG so now all my attention will be 100% focused on getting the MJ back on the road... Need to fix now: -Replace head gasket: Leaking oil on the passenger side of the block between the head and block -Replace rear main seal AGAIN...suppose i didnt do it correct the first time -Re-seal the output flange on the t/c..leaking fluid due to old seal -Weld on the rear shock mounts and install new shocks -Get hardware kit for my RockKrawler steering and install it -Install and wire up the Waggy front header Dang it never seems to end LOL

Checking your Alternator
offroader461 replied to chicofuentes0224's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That's a good article Don, thanks. So, I guess I'm looking for an alternator that's 130 Amp? There's no battery/alt shops around me. Can anyone recommend a good alternator for an 88 4.0 and place to buy it? (Napa's out of the question.) The only aftermarket higher amperage alternator is MEAN GREEN and its ridiculously priced...the ZJ alt won't work on a RENIX motor...i tried and the wires don't line up and the brackets are different...best option is to have it rebuilt with higher output. I used to run 4 150W KC and full stereo on my MJ with a Duralast gold Alternator and my Optima Red top and never had an issue with anything -
Checking your Alternator
offroader461 replied to chicofuentes0224's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
your alternator should only be a 90 Amp one...170 AMPs is way overkill for your jeep -
here is my Protofab one w/o the pre-runner bar....I'm having Mike (owner) make me some custom sliders and rear bumper...its great that ive known his brother-in-law for 5 years now so all my stuff is discounted :D

if theres an empty spot I'm down for it...just pm the details
-
i think ill test fit it on the MJ and take some pics...the header panel has to be replaced anyway...has a big crack in 2 places I like these: Image Not Found Image Not Found
