  1. Old Bumper. Dakota bracket welded to Comanche bracket. Welded brackets mounted inside of bumper. Coat of satin black to help with rust prevention. Done!
  2. Truck doing fine. 1st gen Dodge Dakota bumper install in progress. will post pics soon...
  3. I got it a discount store in radcliff ky. Ollies or something. I have been in there like twice. Harbor freight carries it now. Looks like the same stuff. The glue I used did not hold up in the heat. Used a high heat resistent contact cement the 2nd time. We will see if it holds up better this summer. if not, i will cut a thin piece of laminent and screw it to the lip that goes around the roof and then glue it to that.
  4. Every time something goes wrong on the comanche, I think I need to get rid of this effing piece of rat sht. then i fix it and tell myself. Cheaper than a newer truck. and it is pretty cool too.
  5. Just put in a new tank. Mine was leaking. $100 is cheap insurance. 23 gal. See my project for pics.
  6. Painted and reinstalled skid plate for fuel tank. Welded in some new studs. cut out and repaired a small frame rust spot. new brake calipers. 1 was sticking so just replace both. now if it will just dry up a little outside so i can get it out of the barn.
  7. Has it eeally been 5 years aince i took this truck off my sons hands? Man time flies. just replaced thw gas tank and pump gave up. New one on order. cleaned up and painted the tank straps. skid plate was a b*@$£. Will be drilling and tapping several bolts. Probably need to paint the skid plate too.
  8. Check the bolts for the steering box.
  9. Replaced fuel tank yesterday. Was rusty and leaking. Fuel pump is bad. Diagnosis over. It is the @#$! Pump. Prices vary quite a bit online and retail stores. Any recommendations on brands? What price range? I normally try to buy cheaper/reasonable quality. Not usually one for top of the line stuff. Especially for the ole mule. But I don't buy cheap if i think quality sux. Suggestions?
  10. Looks good. I like them. I'm sure you didn't pay the price on the windshield, but; damn vehicles are expensive now days.
  11. Did same swap. With non cad front axle. I wondered why light quit working, but didn't really care. ;)
  12. I have considred this. I think the easiest thing would be to find a later 2door xj, short bed mj, cut them both in half and bond. Would be a lot of fab work, but you would get the more modern xj engine, electronics and interior. I think it would be easier than trying to stretch an mj.
  13. Probably Automatic only.
  14. You roll the dice with anything you get in that price range. Avoid old Kias like the plague. Newer ones are ok but the older ones very bad quality. Whatever you get, the better the maint. The better luck you will have. 2 + owner cars with questionable maint. Are simply a risk. Good Luck.
  15. Comanches are definitely a love hate relationship. More than once I have been tempted to take the 12 ga to mine. Thankfully it is not my dd or it would have been long gone. Just a truck for when I need one. Serves me well in that regard.
  16. No matter what they come up with, I won't be spending $40k on a new whatever.
  17. I never worry about the cost. If I keep this truck until I die, it will still be cheaper than a new one. Vehicles have gotten simply ridiculous. If i ever get rid of the mj, cost won't be the factor. It will simply be "tired of f'n with it".
