  1. WJ boosters are much easier. You don't have to swap out the push rod...only modify it slightly (drill a larger hole, and grind a little flat spot).
  2. I'm rootin' for you Joe! here's to a quick and speedy recovery  .
  3. We go from a cool name like T&T - and end up with TOE. eeeeww ;)
  4. Nice detective work! 8)
  5. Well the shop diagnosed the problem as a bad brake booster. Swapped one in from a parts MJ, and all it well! Thanks for the help!
  6. I'd still trade my MJ for an H1 in the blink of an eye.
  7. HFB Pat. You're exactly 2 weeks older than me.
  8. You know, I was looking at our C2500 the other day, and I realized that it has a hydroboost brake set up. $1000 is a little much now. Its definitely a cool idea though, and would really be a sweet setup!
  9. I've tried this over 10 times on the MJ, and it still won't work!! I have a line on a 00 WJ master/booster. We'll see how it goes from there.
  10. Well I tried to gravity bleed it...and that didnt work. Then I tried to bleed it again...and it didnt work! I'm fed up with this, and think I will call a shop tomorrow morning. I have to get this fixed, and I don't have a lot of time to do it! :hateputers: I'm currently researching the Dual Diaphragm Booster swap. Looks spiffy!
  11. I bypassed the rear height valve. It goes from the prop valve to the rear flex line. I don't think the booster is bad because I still have power brakes...its not a hard pedal at all. And I have no brake light (I don't even know if that feature works anymore.
  12. I know how to bench bleed...and I have done it to other masters. I didnt do it with the new one because it was already bled when I pulled it out of the parts MJ. I've tried THREE different masters in the MJ, and two sets of calipers! Same result every time.
  13. I hate my brakes. They never really worked, and the pedal would ALWAYS go to the floor (except when you slam on them)...even after 3 bleedings! Today I swapped in an XJ prop valve, and a new master from a parts MJ to see if I could get them to work. We bled them and they are worse than EVER! It almost doesnt stop!! Any Idea what could be wrong with my brakes? The rear is completely new within the last year and a half, and the front calipers/pads I bought less than a year ago! I have a trail run in 2 days, and don't want to drive it with these brakes. :hateputers:  :headpop:
  14. The manual says it takes about 4 quarts if you drain/refill the oil pan. I've been doing 4, and it seems to work.
  15. I think its 11mm actually. 7mm is really small!
  16. My plan was to make brackets, bolt them up, then hold the main part of the bumper to them, and tack weld them on. Fit is great..much better than I expected. I guess you could say that I winged my bumper build :???:
  17. I thought I had a rear main leak...and was pretty peeved about that. I also knew that my valve cover was leaking too so I got a Felpro one from NAPA. Turns out my old gasket was broken in 2 places, and was spewing oil out of the back, which dripped down the block, and onto the trans (which I also thought was leaking). Try the valve cover first (because it is the easiest)...then go from there.
  18. I'd buy it for $500 if the cab was 100%. Surface rust is fine, but an holes in the florr, rockers, or cab corners would be a big no-no.
  19. incorrect. newer AW4's (cutoff year sometime in 1990) are 23 spline output. x2. My 1990 had 21 splines. To be 100% sure, its best to get one out of a 1991+.
  20. Just think what people had to go through in 1900 with these problems, and no pain meds
  21. Could you get an AW4 with a 2.5 bell housing to work?
  22. Man I wish I was closer to you and Pat. I'd help in an instant. 2 years ago my dad's disc let go and made it impossible for him to walk. He went into surgery, which worked great! Then 2 days later, he was back in bed. It turns out that another massive chunk had worked its way out and was now crushing the spinal cord. It took ~4-6 days to get that fixed. Best of luck TNT. Do you mind me asking what happened to your back to make it so bad?
  23. Mitch, if you can't find the ball...I've got 2-3 kicking around somewhere.
  24. Thats what I'd do. Or rent a u-haul like previously stated.
