Got my seats swapped in. I can't believe that I survived without them this long :brows:.
-
Sounds like you know your stuff, and have a plan. The Toyota looks nice. Keep us updated with pics of the new MJ!
-
Its going to need new axles if you do any type of offroad driving with the D30/D35. ;)
-
Is the D35 really cut out to do all that?
-
Glad you're home Joe! Hospitals can be depressing places  .

We had to pull it. We were lucky because the Explorer was ontop of another car, and the rear axle was dangling at shoulder height. We just took the u-bolts off, snipped the brake line, and ebrake cable and slid it out. There are quite a few like this. There were people there with hi-lifts, and floor jacks. They don't care what you do to get parts out. I even helped a guy flip a ZJ over so he could access the last few bolts to remove a 4.0.
-
They easily had 15 Cherokees, 1 YJ and 1 CJ. Lots of ZJs, and 1 WJ. No MJs. comanche87- I got the master for myself. I plan to swap it in at some point. If I decide to not use it, I'll let you know. ;)

After an oil change, I always do 6 quarts.
-
I was going to ask that too. :D

I get it now! I'm still rather inexperienced with brakes. Thanks for the help Eagle, and Hornbrod! 8)

Does the limit the ammount of fluid that the master can push to the rear? Thanks for the information Eagle!!

Holland's Used Auto Parts. http://www.hollandusedautoparts.com/ It was the all you can carry for $50 day. There will be another one in August. I will definately be there then! They said that on a normal day an 8.8 would run you ~$150 if you pulled it. Still a GREAT price compared to other yards in MA!! I also got my new seats installed. Its SO nice being able to tip the seats forward to access stuff behind them!!!!
-
Will do. 8) I'll try to remember to take pics. I found the master/booster on the only WJ in the whole yard! The thing was a mess. No axles, doors, seats, engine, trans, x-fer case...Just the master/booster...waiting for me! I hear is a pretty basic swap. I've seen some good articles on NAXJA, which I will review again.

Yeah, I'm so glad I found these! I have 4 door buckets in there now, and its such a PITA to get in behind them.

I got... -2 XJ 2-door seats. Complete and in great condition! -2 XJ front doors. Purpose if for half doors. -3 miscelanious transmission coolers. I hope to use one for my power steering. -WJ master/booster. -2 front XJ lift springs. My guess is 2-3 inches. -Front marker lights. Because I hit the ones I have now on a tree....again. All for $52.50! And my friend got.... -8.8 with 4.10s & discs. -2 ZJ front doors. -5.9 ZJ steering (draglink & tierod). -5.9 ZJ sound bar. All for $102.50!

Well I got a WJ master/booster today. I'll swap it in the next nice weekend we have.
-
I pulled one off my parts XJ, other wise I'd get the 136 amp (or whatever the number is) model. Gotta love free parts!!
-
So thats not supposed to be there? I thought it assisted in the cooling of the alternator. :chillin:
-
Any ideas why? :D Turns out that the bolt for my tow hooks is within a 1/4 inch of the alt. Everytime the motor mounts are loaded, then unloaded it causes the alternator to smash against the bolt. All I need to do is take the bolt out, and grind a little off the end. Easy fix!
-
Actually the 1986 MJ is not identical to the 87-92 MJs. The firewall is different, and I believe the radiator mount is different too. ;)
-
X2!! I love my C4X4 brackets/hooks. I have bent them slighty, but thats just from hitting rocks with them. I'd buy them again if I had to choose again. Great (cheaper) alternative to a full bumper.

This year Mass is getting rid of emissions testing on 1995 and older. :jump:
-
I took lots of door handles off (mostly from my parts Jeeps) and I never had an issue. I'm in MA too.... :hateputers:
-
When I purchased my XJ at 183k I didnt have an issue with it. 2.5 years later and now the odo reads 205k. I havent regretted the purchase...ever (well except for fuel costs ;) ).

Front suspension moans & groans
Twisty replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
To start, re-torque all the bolts. Such as track-bar to frame/axle bolts , control arm bolts (at frame/axle ends), check steering box -> frame bolts, tighten tie rod end (TRE) castle nuts (35ft/lbs). If you're going to lift the MJ, now is the perfect time to get new parts (track-bar, control arms, steering components). If you're going to stay stock, I'd replace all the bushings on the axle (2 UCA) and control arms (4 LCA and 2 UCA). The TREs can wear out too. My friend had a TRE at the pitman arm go bad, and it would creek when the steering wheel was turned. I'd say that is really rare for a coil to sag much. My XJ has 205k on the odo, and the front still sits higher than the (sagging) rear. My MJ has 6.5" coils and they're not new at all. I bought them from a friend, who bought them from one of his friends, who bought it from somone in our club. They've been on at least 4 Jeeps...probobly more. And They still sit at 6.5"...even after 50+ total wheeling trips.
