i can dig that. ive just had luck with the 8.25, so its what ill choose everytime. personal preference as stated ;)

thats what we call a butter face. everything looks good but her face :rotfl2:

the pinion is an inch longer on the 8.25 but you should still have play in your slip yoke on the 231 to make up the difference. especially with a 3" lift. i don't know anything about the ax15 but with my aw4, 231 and spring over, i didnt have to change anything to the driveshaft. there are several disc brake conversion write ups out there. its VERY straight forward to do. i had no issues doing mine off a 96 grand. as far as perch spacing, (IIRC its was like 41 or 42" and some change but don't hold me to that), just remove the old axle, slide the new on in and bam you've got your spacing. pinion angle is more what id be worried about. slightly more involved then a eye ball perch job lol i prefer the 8.25 over the 8.8. not really any serious reasons why, just preference i guess. although ive seen more people in my local club have more issues out of the 8.8 than any with the 8.25 ever had. shafts, carriers, tubes letting go, etc etc... i don't think anybody has broken a 8.25 29sp shaft yet. even guys on 37s when guys on 35s break 8.8 shafts like candy. could be driving style though or just flat out bad drivers or crappy ford parts :rotfl2:

What I tried was, I put the ball joint press on, tightened it down so there was pressure on the joint, then proceeded to heat the knuckle. It didn't work. I got that thing red hot too.
-
Funny thing is, we made a joke about having to do that in the beginning. Looks like it could come to that

Alright so Ive done a few sets of ball joints on XJ/MJs in the past but this one has got me. I bought an spare hp d30 to build up, well its completely stripped down but the bottom ball joints. Ive tried PB and all sorts of penetrating sprays, putting heat to it, several air compressors and impacts, even a wrench and 5 ft break bar. Nothing worked. It even bent my C press in the process of all that. So I'm asking. What would you do at this point?.

yes it is

agree 100%. I think politics aren't welcome because of how quickly it could spin out of control. People are passionate about their beliefs. Me personally, I think dems and reps are crazy. We need an independant, someone who sees the middle ground between the crazies

sounds like they just need to change the bunny a bit so its not a trademarked icon. of course everyone will still know whats up being playboy has been around forever
-
i picked up a non-cad hp 30 today for less than a bill. i got it home and started the break down :brows: plans are ball joints, wheel bearing units, fresh ujoints, truss, gussets, jks mini skids, 4.88 gears w/master install kit, lube locker and whatever else i come up with. planning on a new steering kit to go on there as well. the way i look at it is, I'm never going over 35s so a well built 30 should be fine. shafts will always be the weak link and I'm okay with that. ive got a pile of spares already lol

Muddin Recuvery System, Chains, Shackles, And Straps?
SW86 replied to redwolf624's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
bubba rope or one in the like as far as mud goes. if theres enough room to get a running start youll be out of there in no time! i have a smitty 30ft strap cause it was cheaper. it does the job. i also have a 30ft chain,,, that never gets used. of course theres always just buying a winch and be done with it -
had to replace my drag link. it got a nice rainbow curve to it somewhere along the line. went on and installed my extra ZJ link i got when i got my ZJ V8 tie rod. didnt put it on the first time because i assumed it was the same as my stocker. not the case. its a hair beefier. maybe this one will hold up or ill be going DOM and heims next. probably should of anyway....
