  1. Haha well I hope I have a good day coming up in my future, I think after all the bad luck I've had this year I deserve something good. I do agree "Crunch" would deffenatly be a great rant about how my truck got run over by a huge @$$ Chevy. As for that Chevy and its direction.... I was approaching the base of the rocks to climb up them, the Chevy was about 5-7 car lengths behind me. Then his brakes went out forcing me too attempt the rocks at full speed. On a happy note I have fixed everything except the motor mounts, and we have replaced the brake system in the Chevy! I hate to say it, but I love that truck.
  2. When my truck was black I left it black and loved it, when I went red I left it black and unlike the rest of the paint it came out great, now that I'm going back to black I think I will do it white to give the truck some Pazzaazzzzz
  3. I went with the Cowl method and I have no regrets on it, at first it feels sketchy as hell, and the noise bothers the crap out of you but I have no problems with it what so ever, and never have had a issue with water seeping in.
  4. Started the peachy process of painting my rig today. Came out like crap in my opinion, probably going to paint over it with a nice flat color. ...yeah defenatly going black again
  5. odd, my 89 4.0 came with a E fan and a clutch fan
  6. I'd pick it up. there is nothing that can't be fixed
  7. Obvious answer....Xj Shaft, long travel yoke..
  8. Don't you love things like this? My commute was only about 15 minutes down the road so maybe uhmm 3 miles max with traffic, then they decided it would be a fantastic idea to start night road work in the center of town, in the morning I catch the crews packing up causing traffic to pile up well they fiddle with cones and barrels, then when I leave work and head over to my night job I catch them setting up :fs1: There is no winning for me :fs1:
  9. Morning everyone, For those of us heading out to work at these lovely hours have a good one.

    Poor MJ.

Seems like something I would come up with...
  11. I haven't checked the grounds yet, I spent the day messing with fuses. I checked and re checked them and they are all fine. I have tail lights, and marker lights but still no darn dash/brake lights! It's to the point were it must be a ground somewhere. I'll check out the one behind the tail light, but where else should I look? I'm not sure the location of any other grounds. Are there any diagrams to were they could be found?
  12. In my opinion, rust holes no big deal, rot holes..little bit of an issue
  13. For the ten millionth time my dash/brake lights have gone out. Checked the bulbs they are good, replaced the following fuses hzd, dome, radio, and every other 15 there is. I still have no dash or brake lights. I have marker lights/tail lights if that helps at all. I'm thinking that it is a ground somewhere but I'm not sure were to look. Any help would be appreciated.
  14. I drove mine for like...4-5months without rear shocks, sure the rear end liked to pick up when coming to a stop, but it's not unbearable.
  15. I'm going to make this a very short rant (As I typed this hole thing 10minutes ago and my computer decided to lock up and need to be restarted) I went wheelin today with some friends and my wife. We approached a rock section of the trail (As some of you know I am no rock crawler) So I pulled over to allow the following rigs to pass. I loomed in my mirror and saw my buddy Jay coming barreling down the trail flashing his lights at us. Over the Cb there were mixed voices yelling "Get out of the way" "Move, F*****g move" and my wife screaming in my ear and I quote "F*****g Hammer it". I made my attempt to get out of there, which ended up with my poor Manche getting air off of the rock pile and landing just ever so gently in the brush on the other side. After making sure the wife was okay I ran over to see what just happened. My buddy in his 6million pound Chevy slammed into the rocks and his truck died out there. Apparently his master cylinder decided it had better things to do with it's life and stopped working, He did down shift to manually slow it down but due to his hand throttle that was less then effective (Why he didn't lower the hand throttle is beyond me, guess it was a split second of fear were only basic motor skills functioned) Fast forward an hour or so we have pulled Jays rig to the road and awaited a tow truck to bring it to its respected driveway. My little Manche is coughing, and has come down with a terrible cold. :headpop: : Fast forward another hour or so, I finally got my Manche home, only having it sputter to a screeching death at a few red lights  I decided to checkout what was going on under the hood. Problem #1 My motor mount decided it no longer wanted to be part of my rig and fled for it's life, Causing a small crack in my exhaust manifold..Somehow. Problem #2 Video It would seem a object or two have taken refuge inside my Cat, which would explain the crappy crappy idle (after dropping the cat it idles very smooth and sounds awesome  (Click the picture to watch) I didn't bring my camera wheelin today (What else is new...) so there are no carnage pictures  But I can show you that I out ran this bad boy. Getting hit by it probably would have caused a few complications with my day.  End rant...for now   (Can you honestly look at that smiley without laughing?)
  16. Did a little wheelin today Sorry no idea how to post the video so you can watch it here And my buddy got a little hung up.
  17. You know you drive an Mj if... When it is sitting in the driveway in a million pieces you have no problem spending your entire paycheck to make it up to par to drive around town. You get excited knowing you may plummet through the floor at any moment. You could restore it back to 100% but that would take to long, and you want to drive it now! When people bad mouth AMC you get upset. Nobody outside of your town can figure out what the hell you're driving. Sometimes you wonder what you would have done with your money if the Mj had never come along. When the police in your town don't try to pull you over for all the moving violations you are committing. The kids in your town wave to you/run over to your truck when you pump gas.
  18. Holly
  19. I jumped the gun a little bit and used that damn liquid electrical tape on one connector...big mistake, it took me forever to pull it apart and get all that gunk off. I'll be going to pick up some of that grease you guys speak of. As far as how deep do I want to go? Well most of the trails we go on around here have water about fender deep, and during the real wet times it can be clear over the hood. (After hydro-locking my xj I'd rather not do that to my mj)
  20. I've recently found out that my Comanche is..less then water proof, and my exhaust at times likes to suck in water rather then pump out exhaust. I plan on building a snorkel out of 2" pvc connected to the stock airbox. I then plan on buying a piece of exhaust pipe that I can't clamp onto my tail pipe for deep water crossings. Okay, I have all that set in stone, but now what is the best way to make the electronics/misc things under the hood water proof? I was thinking I could use liquid electrical tape on the connectors and rtv on things that need to be sealed off. Does anyone have any ideas/things I should know before building these things?
  21. Went to court today, won! Promptly came home with all my excitement decided it would be a great day to dig into the power steering lines, put the new ones on......now they leak like a son of a gun and i have no power steering :fs1: The Comanche gods can only give so much in one day
  22. Yeah mines a wee bit messed up, my cousin backed it into a tree and managed to mangle the right side :headpop:
  23. I have court in the morning for my Mj being "To tall to be on the street" I looked up the Ma lift law and it appears we use a formula that is wheelbasextrackwidth/2200 which comes out to about 2.5 inches. I just want somebody to double check the math for me before I bring this to court with me and end up looking like a fool. If somebody could just measure there rigs and run it through the fomula I will be in your debt.
  24. ..Hey now, those without goals often get things done as well you know, especially when they keep changing their minds. When I lifted mine I wanted to be a rock crawler, when I decided to get some Super Swampers I wanted to be a bogger, when re geared I wanted it to be a daily driver, when I locked her I wanted to be a rock crawler again, currently I think I'm in another bogger phase. Remember; just because your wife kicks you out of bed and doesn't talk to you for days for spending all of the families money, does not make those new parts work worse then before. She just needs to learn..
  25. :fs1: I'd kill to find that in the Jy, I've been searching for butterfly windows FOREVER!
