The Xj is indeed a 4 door. thanks guys.
-
That's odd, I have had nothing but good luck with them.
-
Will the drivers door from a 91 Xj fit on my 89 Mj? I compared the two and they appear to be the same but I just want to make sure before I buy something that won't work.

I've come up with a few things to save my alternator. First we tried to fab up a little box around it to keep the water out, didn't work very well and caused more damage then it saved. Second we attempted to re locate in the ac region. My best advice is just pick up a second hand alt from the junkyard. They usually run me no more then $30 and it's defiantly a good thing to have a extra of. Although my current alternator hasn't crapped the bed yet and it has been through some deep deep water.

Make sure you stop before or after crossing the Bourne/Sagamore bridges. My favorite places to sight see our The Cape Cod Canal, Cape Cod Canal train bridge, main street Hyannis, and the old Paragon Park. Cape Cod is a fun little place to explore, especialy if you have never been out their before. Words for the wise...I usually like to avoid Province Town, but hey that's just me.

Today on lunch a co worker and I headed down to a local restaurant, originally I had planed on just grabbing a italian sub but that changed when I saw a chalk board sitting on the counter. "The Challenge!-5 half pound burgers, 5 baskets of fries. Eat in 45 minutes and your meal is free!" That doesn't sound like it would be to bad right? I mean 45 minutes that's plenty of time to eat 2.5 pounds of burger and about 1.5 pounds of fries...right? (Note:that is not me in this shot it is my co worker Aj, I took the picture of the meal.) After eating for what seemed like an eternity, I was put on "The wall of Shame" I got down the 5 patty burger with about 25-30minutes remaining, but couldn't handle so many damn fries, they just didn't end. I was disqualified for vomiting (That was a disappointing moment, a grown man who eats until he throws up :ack: ) After being disqualified I had to pay the $18.99 for the meal. Also point of interest, you get a free beverage of choice with the meal but you must drink it to complete the challenge (I chose Mello Yello) and wouldn't you know it a gosh darn fly flew into my drink...guess who had to drink it? :grrrr: When we returned to work, the remaining 5 hours were not pleasant.

Working here made me by my Mj, There is no way I could deal with all the issues Rovers have they are way to quirky. By night/weekends I work in a Deli for fun money for my family/projects.

When/where/who did you buy this from? I watched this very truck (Or one absolutly identical) be built on oh crap I forget what forum. I remeber the coil bow being somthing of mention in the build thread, the builder was calling it "anti-squat" but "anti-squat" should only apply to the rear end. The front and rear axles have little truss's on them correct? The one from the thread did, just trying to see if this is it. I just scanned the web for the build thread and couldnt find it but then again I didn't look to hard. If I remeber correct when I found it I googled "Radius arms on jeep comanche" My suggestions, Shims, drop it down an inch or two, man up and lengthen those arms a little bit (But hell, I wouldnt)

I need Help with overheating
MjPioneer replied to MjAllTheWay's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'd check the pressure bottle/cap first, then trace all the lines and make sure there are no leaks, then check out the radiator make sure it hasn't $#!& the bed. If all seems well maybe a flush will do you good? Sounds stupid but is there enough coolant in the system? We all have our moments. -
I vote you paint a sharks mouth on that sucker. Nothing says get out of my way like a sharks mouth.

Since there are so so many pictures floating around the internet of offroading fails I thought we would have some fun and post up our favorite offroading fail pictures. I'll start Autozone Shackles! Mall Crawlin fail

We waited, and waited for this monster storm to hit. The tv guys said to take cover, I even went as far as putting the Yj in the garage and putting tarps over the Xj, and Mj. We took in all the patio furniture locked up the garage doors, locked up the bulkhead, closed every window in the house although my wife insisted we should "leave them open" got down in the basement with our candles turned the radio on and started playing monopoly with my wife and son. 4 hours later it hadn't even rained yet. Today was a huge disapointment storm wise. After checking the old weather stations I guess the storm went right around Holliston ma.

Like Pete stated if it's the right axle, you could get that in there in a matter of hours with just simple tools.
-
I suggest you try a basic tune up

I need help ending a little arguement that is going on amongst people I wheel with. If you have a posi rear end, will you need a locker in there? Or will just locking up the front sufice as the rearened is already spining both tires equaly. None of us have posi to test this theory, but we have formed opinions and I'm sick of hearing the bickering back and fourth over this.

Idk about othere people but around these parts the automatic fillier is a big no-no

Ha you think thats bad? Try going to the pump in a Yj. The guy couldnt grasp the concept you have to fold the licence plate down to get at the tank.

I need help!! (with axles and gears)
MjPioneer replied to The BOMB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I wouldnt throw away the idea of 35's right away. I have a friend who runs 35's on a 30 front and 35 rear with the stock gear ratio's. He's done this for over a year now and nothing has blown yet. I'm not say I suggest it, but it can be done -
After many years of dedicated service my little girl has retired. She's a 1989 Mj Pioneer, we have had many good moments together, from the day I got her to the day her first lift went in. She had her own personality that only I seemed to get along with. This week has been rough for her, so it unfortunately is time. I have made a little time line with photos that I have Sadly I don't have any pictures of her prior to the most current lift, as I didn't own a digital camera until currently. (Don't you love being behind the times?) June 2005 I found my Mj in the want ads for $800. Advertised as 1989 Jeep Comanche 2wd,1inch spacers up front and nothing else. I picked it up with 18X,XXX on her, paint was peeling, and the tires were bald. July 2005 I had the body sprayed black, threw on some 30's and it was time to hit the street! March 2006 The tranny began to fail, so it was time to get a replacement, off the the JY I went for a replacement. All I could find was a MJ with 4wd so I decided it would be a good idea to do the swap. I picked up a Hp 30, Nv231,Ba/10, and all the fixin's. The swap ended being pretty straight forward and isn't hard in any aspect if you know your way around a wrench. The swap was completed in about 2weekends off work. September 2006 With my newly acquired 4wd I decided it would be best to but a lift in there. I went with a BB (for a Xj...) I put in 2inch spacers and a "2inch aal" which ended up being about an inch. ( I didn't know at that time Mj's and Xj's had a different leaf arch) Oh and I stupidly welded my diff ( I was not a smart kid at this point) December 2006 I found a D44 in the Jy that I had to have. I picked it up for about $100. Brought it over to my work stripped it down rebuilt it and installed it. I was the cats meow with my D44. actually you can ask my friends, I didn't shut up about it for weeks. December 2008 I picked up a 1990 Xj Pioneer originally for the motor, front axle and random little parts here and there. But after driving it i decided I couldn't chop up a mint condition Xj. January 2009 Regeared the axles to 4.55, did a cluster swap no more dummy lights and super gas gauge, stripped out the carpeting and patched the floor. March 2009 Actually this is when I lifted my Xj... Mid April 2009 I decided my saggy lift was not..well good. I did some research and decided on a SOA. I dragged her into my work ripped out the d44 relocated the spring perches, replaced the leaf spring bushings, relocated the rear shock mounts, added a extended yoke to the the 231. I used Rusty's offroad 5" coils for the front, Zj steering, some no name stabilizer, RE track bar/drop bracket,RE upper control arms, Rustys lower control arms, RC shocks all around. I then picked up some 33" Thornbirds (What a Mistake) March 2010 After an off and on battle with Floor Cancer my Comanche lost her battle and it was time for the pans to be replaced. So..I replaced them. April 2010 Showing her age the exhaust finally let go. I added a Flowmaster Super 40. Later this month I wrecked her on the trails, ripping the the front end to pieces (Lower control arm mount on passenger side mangled, trackbar mount snapped, track bar, tie rod/drag link crumpled, header panel destroyed. When we tried to winch it back up the hill the front bumper actually pulled off the truck and ripped through the frame horns. April (again) 2010 rattle caned the body flat black, Fixed all the damage to the front end as much as I could. June 2010 Brand new RC shocks all around! Current She is showing signs of far to many issues, Death Wobble is back and in full force, Front axle is getting ready to let go, U-joints are ready to be replaced, all the electrical is failing, Me and her have finally reach 300,000+miles (which is proves how strong the 4.0 really is) and I'm beginning to leak fluids everywhere. Random pictures over the years Lifting the front end (New coils, shocks, track bar, and brakes) 36X12.5's I bought for dirt cheap, Also you can see how the rattle can job was coming out Oh hey I went doorless! Then I wrecked So whats the plan for her now? Full on Truggy style build! 4inch lift springs on top of the SOA Sye 42's D60 rear and hopefully a D44/d60 front if I can find one Rear gear to 4.88 Full exo/internal cage Hopefully a D300 tc, if not a doubler kit for the 231 New front bumper that absolutely will not rip off the unibody Unfortunately she is going to be a trailer queen for the remainder of her life, there is no way I could get rid of her, but there is no way I can justify spending all the money on making her road worthy again. Thanks for reading, I know this post was a little bland and not to fun to read (especially with my bad grammer and awful spelling) but I'm a tad bit drunk and saddened over my lost Comanche. holy crap its 4:06am...I need to be at work in 3 hours...

Personaly I can't see in there well enough, but I think there are none on either of my rigs

Rough Country LAs and the BA10/5
MjPioneer replied to MrFreeze5's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Here is what I'm doing, I ordered the Iron rock offroad brackets as they arn't a full crossmember, I then called RC to see if I could just get the arms. They will send just the arms no crossmember but they need you to call them to order them. I recently decided to make my own long arms instead of spending the money on the RC ones. Also you could ask them for the entire kit minus the cross member I don't see why they wouldn't sell you that Money is Money. This is the friendliest method with the ba10. Also you could buy the Iron Rock 3link upgrade kit for a similar price to the RC arms. The brackets can be found here http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merchant ... e=IR-X_LAB And the upgrade here http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merchant ... y_Code=PFX Or the whole kit your choice. -
Could be the master cylinder, or perhaps a line is going to the wrong caliper? Also are you 100% sure your bleeding them correctly? It sounds stupid to even say but we all have our moments.
