Anybody here with a cage?
MjPioneer replied to MjPioneer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks! thats exactly what I was looking for! -
I'm finaly getting around to building my internal cage for the Mj. I have a few questions I'd like to get solved before I dive into contruction tho. I'm having a hard time with frame tie in locations due to the small interiors of an Mj. Whats the best way to tie in a cage to the unibody? What would be the correct size tube to be using? I was thinking 1.75 but I want to make sure before I buy it and find out I got the wrong thing. Thanks guys

Always wanted one, especialy after finding out pretty much all my Xj parts would work with it. I stumbled across one that a kid and his girlfriend "co-owned" and all they did was beat this piss out of it. They advertised it as "Lifted offroad Comanche" Which in fact ment it had spacers in the front and 31's, and plenty of trail rash. I ended up picking it up for $300 since they said "It's no good for anything except offroad". This Mj is now my DD, Oh ignorance!

Ugh brake lights out again!
MjPioneer replied to MjPioneer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Currently I have parking lights, just no cluster or brake lights -
Brake lights went out on the way home last night. Pulled the fuses everything looked good, checked the ground seemed to be fine cleaned it anyway and still nothing. I suspect I over looked a fuse since the dash is also out now. What fuse controls the interior and tail lights? Thanks for helping me on my daily thread guys.

Shackles are a little  somtimes. They have a tendancy to turn your leafs into a flat peice of wood rather then lifting your rig. Using a shackle on its own I don't support but should you toss an AAL in there and then through on a shackle thats a little better imo

I've been looking for a tow rig for a while now, and I have stumbled upon a cute little Mj that needs a little bit of work that I was hoping to use. Now I'm looking to tow my current Mj with another. Specs on mine are as follow (well the ones you may need to kno) 4.0 I6 5"lift 33's Not sure on exact weight at this point What I was hoping I could tow it with is a 4banger 2wd Mj completly stock Aside from the sheer size diffrence, the fact the tow rig is a 4 banger is there anything majorly important kno? Or should I just not bother with it?

Thanks guys, Just measured my truck, looks like I'm sitting around 5.5. So i guess I'll be picking up some 6" coils. Now I need to find some seriously flexy coils.
-
As of right now my front end sits a bit lower then the rear of my truck, I'd like to level that out a bit this week. I think I have a 3inch coil with 2inch spacers, It's been a while since the lift went in bare with me here. I have a Soa rear end which should be somewere in the ballpark of 5inchs of lift. I was looking into new full size coils and can't for the life of me figure out exactly what I need. since I'm not positive how big my exsisting coils are, or how the measure the lift I have on my Mj. If someone could shed some light on how to measure the lift I would appreciate it. Also I'm looking for a coils that will have some good flex. I currently have rustys coils (Hey atleast I kno that much) and they are as stiff as a board, and don't flex if my life depended on it. Thanks guys

Another leaf spring question

Thanks guys -
Today was eventful for my little girl. Took her wheelin, popped her into 4lo for some "technical" rock climbing, after I reached the top I could shift out of 4lo. Had to crawl under her, found the linkage popped off Easy fix. Then later on after climbing another "little" rock the gas went straight to the floor, thus my throttle cable let go, had to crawl under the hood to pop her back on the throttle body. Aside from that it was a great day of wheelin. I'm amazed at how cool my 4.0 is runing at this point 302,xxx miles and it still runs at about 180 with only an electric fan, It did reach up to 215 at one point on the trail but hey what can you expect?

Going wheelin right now!

Thought I'd vent. It's 4am, I need to be at work at 7:30. I just spent the last 45minutes reasoning with the police not to arrest my brother. I got a phone call from my sister in law saying I had to come over and get my brother because he is freaking out and she is scared of him. So being responsable I drag myself out of the sheets trying not to wake the wife (But what are the odds, I did) got dressed quickly,, put the doors back on my mj andh headed out to my brothers house. I arrived half expecting to get in a fist fight with my brother over this but what I found when I arrived was my sister in law chasing him through the house screaming. Well that didn't last long (I can't stand family fights and always try to break them up) I brought my brother outside and talked to him, apperently they had some friends over and after a night of drinking they got into a arguement over wallpaper...... which ended in my sister in law freaking out out my brother and calling the police, then calling me telling me that my brother was losing it. Well it wasn't long before the police came and wanted to haul my brother in for doing nothing and wrongfully having the police called on him. I had to really pull some strings to let it slide. As we all kno police are prone to doing as they are told, so when a women calls at 3:30am and says her husbands freaking out on her they are going to want to take him in, even if it isn't the truth. So after a long conversation with the ever so freindly police off they went, they didn't seem to want to go but they did. I ended up bringing my brother back to my house to crash on the couch, I couldn't feed him to the lions by leaving him there. My wife thankfully back to sleep but I feel I'm in for it when she gets up. Working on the Rovers in the morning is going to be a treat with 3 hours of sleep! Just thought I'd vent this on to you guys

I once exploded into a frenzy of orgasams when I found out not only is my Manche the only one within 20miles that runs, but that my Manche was bought here in New England, raised here in New England, and still lives in New England and is mostly rust free!

After all my ingition problems I routed the problem down to this soliniod looking thing. From what I have found the battery runs to it via power cable, and the ingition runs a signal wire to it. It is located in the jumble or relays behind the battery, if you can't tell it is the large silver rectangular thing. I need to replace it to get the ignition to work as it's suppose to. For the time being I have by passed to a push button for that neat ricer effect. What is it called and where can I find a new one?

My wife had one when we first met, we never had any serious issues with it aside from it destroying tranny mount after tranny mount. As far as the suspension goes I havn't heard of the front end giving out, Although a 89 is now 21 years old so it the leafs are more then likley begining to wear.
-
I could havw sworn I heard about this somewere else as well.

Interior looks decent, and that motor is worth grabbing

I was looking into swapping my front end, the only problem I have is I just put new oem fenders on my Mj. Is it possable to use the 97+ header panel with the pre 97 fenders? Thanks guys
