So if you get hosed on a deal is it your God's fault? :brows:

I have seen more than one full of themselves and freshly trained person like that handed their hat in a bar fight. Seems someone who does heavy manual labor for a living and who drinks/fights regularly has an edge... :D

It is true to the FC's roots, though. I would drive the crap out of either of those.

I pay a large Bavarian woman named Helga to "punish" me if are are looking for recommendations...

Completely inappropriate Jim. Punish yourself accordingly and post up when done. :D

Heck I am a jerk and even I thought they had gone too far

Fender Flare thread
Incommando replied to 1990 Pioneer 4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Rear TJ flares at all four places look good IMHO 31x10.5's on factory wheels with 1.25" spacers on a no lift 2wd with no rubbing: After SOA & fine tuning the fit Image Not Found -
I can see the knee-jerk reaction being a ban on suspension lifts starting in Kali and moving East...

Did you remember to get your millions in gubmint hand-outs? So far that has been about the only proven fact about this bio-whatever & electroBS crap the greenies keep pushing...as long as they get big fat tax-sponsored checks.

 Holy get me all excited for nothing, Batman. This is a 2009 article based on interview with a guy who retired some years prior to that... :headpop: The Fiat connection probably means any info he may have had from that period probably is even less reliable today. I know the OP never posted it as such but I was hoping it was new info for hopes of a Jeep truck. "During an Allpar Forums discussion about the future of the Dodge Dakota pickup, some suggested boosting Dakota-platform sales by adding a Jeep variant. In 2009, veteran engineer Bob Sheaves wrote:"

I know...I am sure every manufacturer is still rocking cutting edge designs from a drawing board in 1982 or so....

Now add the Rocky Mountain edition front sheet metal.... Image Not Found

If you want to make a new Comanche... The Liberty platform is significantly stronger than the XJ was and could be moded just like the XJ was modded to turn it into the MJ.....

I purchased patch panels from them for a Road Runner about 20 years ago. They were of a good gauge of steel and didn't require a ton of work to make them fit like a lot of the cheapie companies' products... But 20 years is a long time.

Anyone here know FSJ stuff? Particularly D44 front axle....
Incommando replied to yellaheep's topic in The Pub
The J-series and wide-track FSJ Cherokees ( think of the Cherokee Chief with factory fender flares) used one axle width and it is wider than the Wagoneer and narrow-track Cherokees ( no flares). They are not that super rare but you do need FSJ "wide track" axle shafts that aren't as plentiful as the FSJ narrow track shafts. If it is a driver's drop axle swapped into the XJ the donor axle was from an '80-'83 W/T Chero or an '80 to '88 J-truck and if it is passenger drop (they changed the XJ t-case, too, then) the donor was from a '79 to about '74. Rear axle differences are even greater as the pumpkin off-set was dictated by the factory transfer case. If the donor that they are calling a "truck" is actually a N/T FSJ ( these axles were never available in the actual J10 or J20 "truck" ) than you can use FSJ N/T axles. The N/T axle is about 58" WMS-WMS while the W/T are about 63" WMS-WMS. Some people call CJ's and XJ's "trucks" so who knows for sure? The axle shafts you list: Jeep Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer 80-92 30 Short Left 15.80" 5-760X & Jeep Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer 80-92 30 Long Right 32.12" 5-760X were never OEM in a truck. Again, front Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer/Cherokee N/T FSJ narrow-track inner axle shafts WILL NOT work in a FSJ W/T housing! -
When was jeep ever independent? Willys-Overland produced makes other than the Jeep. Kaiser Motors sold cars under the Kaiser and Willys nameplates while they made Jeeps as will as their many industrial ventures...AMC made cars under the company name of AMC, Nash, Hudson before and after buying jeep as well as making military vehicles, buses and delivery vehicles, major home appliances, commercial refrigeration, and lawn care products. After 1980 and during the formation of the XJ/MJ Jeep was under French control via AMC/Renault much as it is under Italian control now.... Although it was closest to being an independent under Willys-Overland it has actually been small sub-division of a corporation forever and especially every since 1953 when Kaiser took control of Willys.... I think the fact that they have more parts-bin availability than before as well as a new leadership makes it more likely now than ever.

If it is a 3.7 KJ you can change the filter easily by standing in front of the jeep and reaching down. It is on the front of the motor under the PS pump. Easy peasy.

1) I have owned over a dozen jeeps out of the 50+ cars I have owned 2) I am a big enough margarita fan that I once had litter-mate cats named Jose & Cuervo 3) My Wechsler results generally fall into the 165-170 range 4) I had to give up my love for all things spicy after an aneurysm in my colon required surgery 5) My quickest E.T. ever in the ol' 1320 was 9.32

How about a TJ 6-speed and 4.0 in a MJ?
Incommando replied to fcjunkie's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You will like that tranny. I have on in my KJ. -
You know how yahoo's who tear up land while 'wheeling illegally gives all off roaders a bad name? Living in a densely populated residential neighborhood and having your yard conditions make the average junk yard look like a hospital room does kinda the same for those of use who wish to work on our own vehicles at home.

x2 More FSJ in one place than should be allowed by law.. Just note.. The board culture is much like this one.. Don't bring drama.. don't act like a douche.. True dat...

The M20 is a fairly probelmatic axle due to its weak 2-piece axle shafts ( cutting edge 1930 technology.. :D ) and thin tubes. Swapping to aftermarket 1-piece shafts and welding the tubes to the diff housing is a big improvement for them. The FSJ version, although still called a M20 by most, is technically the M23 with better tubes and 1-piece axles from the factory.

If it is an auto it had an AMC-patterned 727 from the factory not a TH400 ( the last year for the TH400 was '79). It looks to have lock-outs which probably means a 208 part-time transfer case. If it is a full-time 4x4, it has a 228/9 and the lock-outs were added later. IIRC the rear D44 did not return until '86 so unless it is very late '85 the rear axle should be an AMC Model 23, a heavier duty version of the M20 found under CJ's. The rear diff cover will look like half of a basketball. The front would be a D44. If you talk to him again his tranny issues is probably that he does not have the kick-down linkage for the replacement carb to the tranny adjusted correctly. If he has driven it much like this the tranny is probably smoked. If he catches it in time he can adjust it correctly and be fine. $2,000 is pretty optimistic, IMHO.
